The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 428: Chapter 428: The Gentle Pat-On-The-Head Kill_1

In front of a grand audience, with over a thousand students watching, Layne Reid made a heartfelt confession, casting himself as the prince of devotion.

For students who enjoyed a spectacle and were still innocent at heart, they naturally hoped for a joyous and satisfying conclusion. Therefore, everyone, irrespective of whether they knew Layne Reid or whether Lillian Frost liked him, followed suit and shouted along.

The students might have had good intentions, but Lillian Frost was embarrassed.

If she agreed, then Layne Reid would get his way; if she didn’t, with Layne Reid’s earnest demeanor, wouldn’t it seem like she didn’t appreciate what was good? If she harshly turned him down, she feared many would accuse her of pretending to be above it all.

Lillian Frost could not possibly agree to Layne Reid, even if it meant damaging her own image; it was utterly out of the question!

Just as Lillian Frost took a deep breath, preparing to reject Layne Reid, the stage lighting suddenly changed, and a tall man appeared at the edge of the stage.

The entire place erupted with gasps and exclamations.

What was happening now?

Another boy confessing his love?

Wow, truly befitting a school beauty—the drama unfolded one act after another, absolutely thrilling!

Lillian Frost looked up and her eyes instantly brightened.

Carson Flores!

Carson Flores was holding a bouquet of roses, smiling as he approached her.

Lillian Frost rejoiced internally; her savior had arrived!

Cousin, I love you to death!

Layne Reid, who had been gazing at Lillian Frost with deep affection, now awaited her response, confident he would not lose out regardless of her decision.

All of a sudden, Lillian Frost turned her head, her face alight with joy looking behind her, which gave Layne Reid an unpleasant jolt. He whipped around, only to see a handsome man with a calm smile and a lean figure holding flowers stepping into the spotlight, like a prince walking out of a fairy tale.

Carson Flores didn’t even acknowledge Layne Reid, who was on one knee; he simply walked up to Lillian Frost with composure and handed her the bouquet with a smile.

”Although I lack a knack for music, that was truly lovely to listen to.”

Lillian Frost breathed a sigh of relief, accepted the roses, held them to her chest, inhaled their scent, then beamed at Carson Flores, ”Thank you!”

Carson Flores chuckled, reached out to touch Lillian Frost’s head, and gently ruffled her hair, saying with a smile, ”Keep it up.”

Lillian Frost’s cheeks turned a light pink as she hummed softly in response.

”Wow!”

”The head-touch kill!”

”So Lillian Frost already had a boyfriend all along!”

”So sweet!”

”So cool!”

The whole auditorium became noisy, all the students looking at the stage with envious eyes; Carson’s gentle touch captivated countless female students’ hearts in an instant.

In that moment, Layne Reid, who remained on one knee, seemed like nothing more than a clown in the backdrop, his display of devotion completely overshadowed by Carson’s tender touch that left no trace behind!

No one paid him any attention anymore!

Even those who had just been egging on the cheering for her to accept Layne Reid were now silent.

Layne Reid may have been handsome, not far off from Carson Flores, but the mature aura and the Great Grandmaster’s presence that Carson exuded were far beyond what a student like Layne Reid could compare to.

Even though Layne Reid came from a superior background and was more exposed to society, embodying a more worldly demeanor rather than the greenness of a student, he was instantly outclassed in comparison to Carson Flores.

The situation was exceedingly awkward—it was as if Layne Reid had painstakingly prepared for a confession, only for a domineering CEO to sweep in and whisk the object of his affection away with a kiss.

In that instant, Layne Reid became a laughingstock.

It was foreseeable that for a long time to come, Layne Reid would be the butt of the joke.

Layne Reid looked towards Carson Flores, his gaze filled with venom for a split second.

Remaining on the stage would only add to his embarrassment, so Layne Reid stood up and left the stage without saying a word.

Although everyone witnessed this scene, no one seemed to care.

Wasn’t it expected for the loser to exit dejectedly?

Besides, the two appeared much better suited for each other, clearly deep in affection. It was evident they had been together for a while; his presence was that of an intruder, rudely interrupting!

Seeing Layne Reid depart, Carson Flores gave Lillian Frost a smile and then stepped down from the stage.

Lillian Frost, clutching the flowers with her cheeks flushed, bowed to the audience below and received a round of enthusiastic applause.

Upon returning to his seat, Carson Flores gave Samantha Tate a thumbs-up: ”Nice save!”

Carson Flores laughed, ”The flowers you bought really came in handy.”

Samantha Tate chuckled, ”I told you Tangtang would have tons of admirers.”

Carson Flores joked, ”Did you have a legion of admirers when you were in school, too?”

Samantha Tate boasted, ”Of course, I was the school beauty. The guys who liked me could line up from the dormitory to the school gate!”

As Carson Flores and Samantha Tate bantered, from a certain angle, Layne Reid’s face was ashen, his expression darkening as he made a phone call. After hanging up, Layne Reid turned to instruct the two boys behind him.

”Keep watch at the auditorium entrance, don’t let them get away. That guy made me lose face; I want him to enter upright but leave horizontally!”
