Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 331: Chapter 228: Cheers! The Lead Compound Screening Was a Success

Otherwise, Lou Musaang wouldn’t have been just a step away from a breakthrough for so many years.

”After all, it’s a drug that can treat primary cancer. It was never going to be that easy.”

After this incident was over, Xu Kunlin still planned to recall Sorafenib for further experiments. Only a perfect launch of this new drug would bring him the true sense of accomplishment and fame he craved.

Unlike a pure businessman like Xie Bin, Xu Kunlin still had some scientific ambitions.

’I hope the day Jin Pharmaceutical Group goes bankrupt comes soon.’

Xu Kunlin had already made up his mind. After acquiring Jin Pharmaceutical Group, he could also acquire Lou Musaang’s team and the team of that young upstart, Wu Ting.

He would have them continue their research and develop new drugs under his command.

...

...

「City First Hospital, Department of Hepatic Tumor Surgery.」

As a newly established department, it only had two outpatient clinics so far.

Wu Ting, Zhang Heng, and Cai Qi were the permanent physicians, with visiting experts from other hospitals rotating through the clinics.

Zhang Heng had been recruited from Jin Province Tumor Hospital, and in terms of comprehensive diagnostic skills for liver tumors, he was actually the strongest on City First Hospital’s own team.

Wu Ting, on the other hand, was in a league of his own when it came to primary liver cancer related to hepatitis B.

While Cai Qi didn’t have any top-tier specializations, their skills were well-rounded enough to handle ordinary patients.

As for the other clinic staffed by visiting experts, it was basically a rotation of Liu Xingye, Fu Jinfen, doctors from the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital, and Director Gu and Director Ma from Jin Province Tumor Hospital.

For a new department, its overall strength was already quite impressive. City First Hospital was also planning to recruit more senior doctors in hepatic tumor surgery soon to bolster the department’s immediate capabilities.

Wu Ting had just been promoted to associate chief physician, so it was impossible for him to be immediately fast-tracked to chief physician. Therefore, for the time being, considering seniority and various other comprehensive factors, Cai Qi, as the director of Hepatobiliary Surgery, would serve as the interim director of Hepatic Tumor Surgery.

Of course, everyone knew that the first true director would be Wu Ting.

Cai Qi had long since mentally prepared for this and was more than happy to shield Wu Ting from hospital politics for a while, serving as the interim director during this transitional period.

The most uncomfortable person in the new department was Zhang Heng.

On the one hand, being able to return to Hepatic Tumor Surgery, where he felt most skilled and comfortable, was good news for him. It would allow him to fully utilize his greatest talents.

But what frustrated him was that this meant he would forever be overshadowed by Wu Ting.

However proud and arrogant Zhang Heng had been when he first arrived, that’s how dejected and mortified he was now.

According to his original plan, he believed that City First Hospital wouldn’t be able to keep him, and that he would be the one leaving to pursue greater heights.

The reality, however, was that Wu Ting’s research project was in full swing, receiving all kinds of investments, and had even been designated a key project by the National Natural Science Foundation. Now, a new laboratory building had been established specifically for him, and the Department of Hepatic Tumor Surgery had been created just for his work.

And he was just an ordinary associate chief physician holding clinics in Wu Ting’s new department!

This was simply too frustrating for Zhang Heng, but he could only vent his dissatisfaction in his heart. After all, Wu Ting’s stellar resume was undeniable.

A single publication in a special issue of *Cell* was an accomplishment that would put Wu Ting out of his reach for a lifetime.

The clinical research project Zhang Heng had been pouring all his energy into lately—”A Clinical Study on Entecavir Combined with Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization for Treating Hepatitis B-related Advanced Liver Cancer”—hadn’t shown any promising results or made any significant progress, which made him very anxious.

This was a project Zhang Heng had put a great deal of thought into; he had already invested so much in it, and it was supposed to be his key project at the City First Hospital Research Center.

He couldn’t just let it end in failure.

Watching Wu Ting’s career advance triumphantly, Zhang Heng was suddenly struck by a radical idea.

Recently, after Pfizer’s new drug, Sorafenib, was launched, its performance had been eye-catching, receiving unanimous approval from patients, doctors, and distributors alike.

Most importantly, it was Pfizer’s latest drug, FDA-approved and launched just a few months ago.

’Entecavir is an old drug now,’ he thought. ’Based on the current descriptions of Sorafenib’s efficacy, its therapeutic effects completely surpass those of Entecavir.’

’Besides, the newer a drug is, the more it represents a brand-new field. There are bound to be no researchers who have conducted studies on it yet.’

Zhang Heng thought for a moment and made a firm decision.

’I already have a mature research group, an established team, and full support with all the necessary equipment and instruments. Why not just switch targets and use Pfizer’s new drug, Sorafenib, to replace Entecavir in the combination therapy with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization!’

The more Zhang Heng thought about it, the better his idea seemed.

’Since it’s Pfizer’s new drug, they must be hoping that researchers will use it in the treatment of hepatitis B-related advanced liver cancer to expand the drug’s clinical applications!’

Zhang Heng even imagined that because of the cutting-edge and forward-looking nature of his new project, he would not only be able to secure national research funding but also receive financial support from Pfizer Pharmaceutical!

After all, by conducting this kind of research with their new drug, any results he produced would also help them promote it.

No sooner said than done!

Wu Ting’s recent achievements had stimulated him, igniting his fighting spirit and incredible drive.

Zhang Heng immediately gathered his research group and began clinical trials on the new drug, Sorafenib!
