Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 308: Chapter 219: Chief Scientist Finds a Kindred Spirit (Part 2)

Lou Musaang agreed that, at this stage, Wu Ting was getting a bit ahead of himself.

”His project is overly idealistic and far-fetched, I’ll admit. But his concepts and thought process are still quite impressive. I admire them.”

”In fact, from a certain angle, this ’Fengmu Tiada’ drug that Wu Ting has conceptualized combines the strengths of our current projects—the Yangzheng Xiujie Pill and the New Medicine for Banzhe. It’s a step beyond, an ideal new drug for curing primary hepatocellular carcinoma caused by hepatitis B.”

”If he’s truly interested in developing new drugs and is willing to put in the hard work, I wouldn’t be opposed to him coming to our R&D center to learn and collaborate in the future.”

Due to her own health issues, Lou Musaang cherished every minute. She poured all her time into her work, which made her seem cold, reclusive, and a bit arrogant.

But deep down, Lou Musaang highly valued promising young people. She knew her own time was limited, and if she ever met a successor worth mentoring, she was willing to pass on everything she knew.

”Jia Jun, go get Feifei and Wu Ting. I’ll have a chat with him.”

Hearing that Lou Musaang planned to speak with Wu Ting, Jin Yihong’s interest was piqued. Lou Musaang’s standards were notoriously high.

’This Wu Ting is brilliant in a clinical setting and has a solid grasp of research theory. I wonder if he can win Lou Musaang’s approval in pharmaceutical R&D.’

When it came to investing in Wu Ting’s project, Jin Yihong wasn’t focused on immediate returns. She didn’t expect him to produce results anytime soon. What she truly valued was his potential, and the man himself.

Having Deng Feifei join Wu Ting’s company was also a strategic move for the future, much like the relationship between herself, Lou Musaang, and Jia Jun.

A short while later, Jia Jun entered with Deng Feifei and Wu Ting.

”Dr. Wu, I’ve heard about you from President Jin. You are preparing to start a project on curing primary hepatocellular carcinoma caused by hepatitis B, and in the third phase, you proposed a concept drug called ’Fengmu Tiada’...”

”I’d like to know what you understand about new drug development. It’s an arduous and protracted process. Youthful passion alone isn’t nearly enough...”

Lou Musaang began to casually probe, wanting to see if Wu Ting was acting on a whim or if he truly understood the world of pharmaceuticals and new drug development.

Backed by his knowledge of the Yangzheng Xiujie Pill and the New Compound Medicine for Banzhe, Wu Ting was not about to show any weakness in front of Lou Musaang.

”Then allow me to briefly share my views on drug development, especially concerning primary hepatocellular carcinoma...”

”First of all, I’ve done in-depth research on the various stages of new drug development. A pharmaceutical company typically divides the lifecycle into six stages:”

”The first is the drug discovery and screening stage. This is the initial phase of development and a comprehensive test of a researcher’s scientific acumen, innovation, and exploratory skills. The failure rate is extremely high, but it’s also the most critical step for any new drug. Only after a lead compound with the desired activity is screened and confirmed can you proceed to the next phase.”

”Once my liver tumor laboratory is constructed and the equipment is installed, I will begin researching the lead compound for ’Fengmu Tiada’.”

Wu Ting spoke with confidence and eloquence. Lou Musaang and Jia Jun had expected a casual chat, but they were caught off guard by how well-versed the young man was.

’Looks like he’s really done his homework.’

Deng Feifei was also surprised, and a flutter of joy rose in her heart. ’It seems he really did study the books and materials on drug development I gave him.’

’No wonder he’s achieved so much at his age. His breadth of knowledge and his incredible drive are amazing.’

Deng Feifei listened quietly.

Wu Ting showed no signs of stopping. To win the favor of Jia Jun and Lou Musaang, he was preparing to go all out.

”The second stage is preclinical research. This phase includes pharmaceutics, as well as pharmacology and toxicology studies.”

”Pharmaceutics can be further broken down into the manufacturing process of the active pharmaceutical ingredient, its structure and structural elucidation, the formulation process, quality standards, testing methods, selection of packaging materials, stability studies, and more.”

”Pharmacology and toxicology studies are subdivided into pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, as well as acute, long-term, and special toxicology studies.”

”This stage is also the most complex and riskiest part of new drug development. There are management risks, financial risks, and most importantly, technical risks.”

”Within technical risks, the primary factors that can lead to a project’s failure are the complexity of the drug candidate, the degree of difficulty, and immature technology. Therefore, a top-tier R&D team equipped with advanced instruments and facilities is absolutely crucial. And this is precisely where I’ll need the support of your company, and of two senior, top-tier scientists like yourselves, as I build my own lab.”

Wu Ting had seamlessly integrated the known expertise of Jia Jun and Lou Musaang with his own current situation, presenting it all back to the two scientists.

Seeing Wu Ting’s mature, systematic response, the two scientists were clearly stunned.

They didn’t feel like they were talking to a novice who had yet to set foot in the pharmaceutical industry. Instead, it felt as if they were conversing with a chief scientist from a peer-level R&D department.
