Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 318: Chapter 224: Showing Off at Zijingang Again! He Knows Everything

Shao Yuqiao called in the director of the radiology department. After a meticulous examination, they did indeed find a blood clot in an extremely well-hidden location inside the stent!

The patient’s two previous heart attacks had been caused by this very clot!

Now that they had found the superficial cause, the patient was safe, at least for the time being. The next step was to figure out why this tiny, hidden blood clot had formed in the first place.

Shao Yuqiao and Shen Guofeng re-entered the operating room. After they performed an arterial thrombectomy to remove the clot, the patient’s condition finally stabilized.

The ECG, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and other vital signs gradually returned to normal.

”Looks like the patient’s condition has stabilized for now.”

”Now, we just need to find the underlying cause of this small blood clot.”

In the consultation room, Director Shao, Professor Shen, and Shen Siyuan could finally let out a small sigh of relief.

”Wu Ting, we really have you to thank for this one.”

”How in the world did you manage that? To deduce that a clot would form based on the stent’s coating, its drug-eluting properties, its material, and its physical structure!”

”You’ve never even studied cardiac stent intervention, have you?”

Even Shen Guofeng, who knew Wu Ting quite well, was completely astounded by his ability.

Wu Ting scratched his head and said humbly, ”I learned it all from my teacher.”

The two directors looked toward Shen Siyuan.

Shen Siyuan’s face flushed.

”Come to think of it, Wu Ting did ask me yesterday about cardiac stent intervention and aortic valve replacement. I gave him a general overview and recommended a few journals...”

’But I don’t remember ever mentioning the complications of stent intervention,’ Shen Siyuan thought.

’And to deduce the risk of a clot just from the stent’s materials and physical structure... that’s just uncanny.’

’That level of detail is something you’d only see from a patient who has the disease themselves and obsessively researches every possible aftereffect and complication.’

Shen Siyuan was used to his prized student giving him undue credit, so he went along with it.

In the consultation room, the other junior doctors stared at Wu Ting as if he were a god.

’He’s just too incredible.’

Everyone realized that if it weren’t for Wu Ting’s encyclopedic knowledge today, the tiny, hidden clot would have remained. The next time it caused an attack, the patient would have likely died instantly, with no chance for resuscitation.

At this thought, both Shen Guofeng and Shao Yuqiao felt a wave of retrospective fear. They were more grateful than ever that Shen Siyuan had brought his prized student along today.

”Next, we need to find the underlying cause of the thrombosis.”

Wu Ting already had a few theories, but he needed the patient to wake up so he could ask some questions and confirm them.

It was getting late. The patient’s condition was stable, and another clot was unlikely to form anytime soon. The team decided to call it a day and resume their investigation tomorrow, after the patient had recovered a little more.

After bidding farewell to his teacher, Director Shao, and Professor Shen, Wu Ting returned to the house Shen Siyuan was temporarily borrowing.

「The next morning.」

Wu Ting arrived at the cardiac surgery ward.

The patient’s color looked much better today.

The family members were also relieved for the time being.

Director Shao, Shen Guofeng, Shen Siyuan, Huang Dian, and the other doctors entered the ward together.

The way they arranged themselves today was quite telling. Wu Ting stood subtly in the center, flanked by Director Shao and Professor Shen, with Shen Siyuan next in line.

In the ward, many of the other patients looked over and began to whisper among themselves.

”Who’s that young doctor? I’ve never seen him before. The way they’re standing around him, you’d think he was the head of the department...”

”I’ve never seen that doctor here before, but I heard he’s the one who figured out what caused the heart attack for the patient in bed 27 yesterday. They say Director Shen and Director Shao found the clot in his stent thanks to his tip... If it weren’t for that young doctor, the patient might have dropped dead already...”

Gossip traveled fast in the hospital ward, and everyone was remarking on the story.

They all pricked up their ears, trying to listen in.

Wu Ting began to question the patient carefully.

Shao Yuqiao and Shen Guofeng had already heard the patient’s story once, but they still listened patiently, paying close attention to Wu Ting’s diagnostic approach and any details they might have missed.

And through his questioning, Wu Ting did indeed find a suspicious lead.

The patient had a history of breast tumors and was undergoing regular treatment!

Wu Ting asked the patient to show him her previous treatment records.

Wu Ting then began asking about the medications the patient had been taking recently.

The patient thought for a moment before answering, ”I’ve been regularly taking reishi mushroom capsules, but I asked Director Shao about them, and he said they were fine to take.”

”Anything else?”

Wu Ting pressed on.

The patient blinked, thinking for a good while before she remembered.

”Oh, right! The last time I went to get my prescription, they were out of the reishi mushroom capsules, so I bought Doxorubicin instead, since it has the same effect!”

Hearing the word ”Doxorubicin,” Wu Ting’s eyes lit up.

”Director Shao, Professor Shen, Teacher, I think we’ve found the culprit behind the blood clots!”

Hearing this, the others asked in confusion:

”You mean it was the Doxorubicin?”

The patient was skeptical. ”I asked about it! They said it was the same as the reishi mushroom capsules. How could it cause me to have a fatal heart attack?!”

Director Shao and Professor Shen were also confused. This was truly an obscure piece of medical knowledge. It was hard to imagine how anyone could not only be aware of it but also recall it so clearly.

In the past, Wu Ting would never have known this either. But now, he possessed the pharmaceutical expertise of Jia Jun and Lou Musaang.
