Chapter 325: Chapter 226: Opportunity: Great Rewards Attract Brave Men

”Today, at the Pfizer Research and Development Center in Xianglin City, a new drug launch conference was held at the exact same time!”

”Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company also announced a new drug: Sorafenib! It’s a multi-kinase inhibitor that targets VEGF and its receptors, and it’s a targeted therapy drug approved by the Southern Country FDA for treating liver cancer.”

”Its efficacy and effects are clearly superior to your new drug, the Yangzheng Xiujie Pill, and it’s a direct competitor in the same market!”

Following this revelation from an attendee...

A large number of attendees immediately began searching for the livestream of Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s global new drug launch.

Just moments ago, Lou Musaang had been proudly proclaiming this as a direct showdown between traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, boasting of the drug’s immense safety with no drug-related adverse reactions or side effects.

But then, Pfizer Pharmaceutical revealed a purely Western drug—one that was also approved by the Southern Country FDA, also boasted high safety with no drug-related adverse reactions, and had even greater efficacy and authority!

The stark contrast sent the entire conference into an uproar.

The glory Jin Pharmaceutical Group had enjoyed just moments before was now matched only by their current humiliation.

Under the combined prestige of Pfizer Pharmaceutical and the Southern Country FDA, how could a homegrown drug from Xiao City—the so-called ”beacon of traditional Chinese patent medicine”—possibly stand a chance?

The distributors who had been ready to sign partnership agreements with Jin Pharmaceutical Group in the next segment of the event immediately adopted a wait-and-see attitude.

The more aggressive ones were already on the phone with their companies, ready to switch sides and head to Pfizer’s conference to try and secure a deal with them instead.

Jin Pharmaceutical Group and Pfizer Pharmaceutical were launching new drugs for the same disease on the same day, at the same time. Whether it was patients, doctors, or distributors, they would all make the same choice.

After all, the other one was approved by the Southern Country FDA!

With this sudden turn of events, the expressions of the investment firm heads who had come to endorse Jin Pharmaceutical Group changed drastically.

They knew all too well the devastating impact this head-to-head clash would have.

They needed to return immediately and adjust their strategy. Jin Pharmaceutical Group was likely headed for dire straits.

Several investment firm heads quietly slipped away, and some distributors simply turned and walked out. The entire conference was descending into chaos.

In disbelief, Lou Musaang took the device from a colleague, which was streaming the live video of Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s press conference.

She knew the conference couldn’t continue.

Jin Yihong acted immediately, bringing the new drug launch to a hasty conclusion. The subsequent contract signings and investor speeches were obviously out of the question.

The conference ended anticlimactically. Jin Yihong urgently gathered her team to prepare a PR and damage control strategy.

While Jin Pharmaceutical Group, having fallen into Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s trap, scrambled to come up with a countermeasure...

Xie Bin played his next ruthless hand.

After Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s press conference concluded, top international short-selling firms—Muddy Waters Research, Citron Research, and other anonymous sources—simultaneously published an investigative report on Jin Pharmaceutical Group.

The report highlighted several problems with Jin Pharmaceutical Group.

First, Jin Pharmaceutical Group’s corporate policy was overly aggressive, with nearly all its cash flow poured into the Banzhe Project and the Yangzheng Xiujie Pill. This rapid expansion phase clearly lacked the revenue to support it.

Second, after years spent developing and finally launching the Yangzheng Xiujie Pill, Jin Pharmaceutical Group was ambushed by the top-tier multinational giant, Pfizer Pharmaceutical.

Third, Jin Pharmaceutical Group insisted on a homegrown, independent R&D model and had just completed a 10 billion equity financing round today, yet its own business model and profitability remained questionable.

Fourth, following the clash at the press conference, three key areas for Jin Pharmaceutical Group—its corporate value, its reputation, and investor confidence—had all suffered a devastating blow.

Finally, the firms also outlined Jin Pharmaceutical Group’s weaknesses and proposed potential ways for it to save itself.

Increase corporate transparency. In addition to the newly launched Yangzheng Xiujie Pill, the company should disclose the specific research progress and more information about the Banzhe Project to the market.

The company needs to clarify its business model and strategic goals. It cannot afford to be complacent and insular. The report suggested that seeking a strategic investment partnership with an international giant like Southern Country Pfizer Pharmaceutical was the fastest way out of its predicament.

The release of this report from top international short-selling firms was another devastating blow to Jin Pharmaceutical Group.

The most malicious suggestions were to publicize the specific progress and details of the Banzhe Project, and to pursue a strategic investment partnership with a multinational giant.

This was tantamount to demanding that Jin Pharmaceutical Group hand over its core project on a silver platter, while simultaneously inviting a corporate raider like Pfizer to come in and rip out the very essence of their homegrown R&D innovation by the roots!

Reading this, everyone understood Pfizer’s blatantly obvious intentions. But their arguments were well-founded, and more importantly, they had uncompromisingly unveiled Sorafenib, completing their precision strike.

...

...

Jin Pharmaceutical Group’s stock price hit its daily limit down that very day.

To make matters worse, Pfizer Group simultaneously dropped another bombshell.

Pfizer announced that it had already established cultivation bases for relevant traditional Chinese medicine raw materials in Jin Province, along with related upstream and downstream processing industries.

Overnight, the suppliers who had previously intended to partner with Jin Pharmaceutical Group doubled the price of the core medicinal ingredients for the Yangzheng Xiujie Pill.
