Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 197: Chapter 178: Inviting Wu Ting to be an Associate Professor at the Research Institute

As Professor Jin finished speaking, it was clear that everyone was caught completely off guard.

’The most exciting and impressive question Professor Jin has seen in the entire history of this academic exchange!’

’To think this young student received such high praise!’

’So he wasn’t just bragging. He really did propose a profound and complex question that even Goddess Deng couldn’t answer.’

Everyone’s curiosity was thoroughly piqued.

They all craned their necks, watching as Deng Feifei began to SCRATCH the question onto the blackboard.

As the question gradually took shape, the master’s and doctoral students in the audience erupted in a stir.

They were realizing that they weren’t even qualified to understand the question.

”...The specificity of SIGIRR plays a negative regulatory role in inflammatory and immune responses?”

”...SIGIRR is a member of the TIR-related superfamily observed in recent years?”

”...HBV infection can develop into life-threatening cirrhosis, liver cancer, or liver failure, leading to death. By utilizing its negative regulatory role, combined with traditional surgical resection, can we develop a curative treatment for primary liver cancer caused by Hepatitis B?”

”...What is the principle behind the immunopathogenesis related to CHB?”

...

Watching Wu Ting’s question—each part interlinked with the next—slowly unfold a grand vision for ultimately conquering primary liver cancer caused by Hepatitis B, everyone was left in a state of shock.

Although they couldn’t understand the underlying principles, various inferences, and hypotheses, they all understood the ultimate significance of this research topic.

It was to establish a therapeutic theory linking immune negative regulation with primary liver cancer caused by Hepatitis B!

’What incredible ambition! What a grand vision!’

No one could believe that a question like this was posed by someone so young, who looked like he might be a new freshman.

The crowd fell silent, everyone quietly awaiting Professor Jin’s explanation.

After Deng Feifei finished writing the entire question on the board, Professor Jin first praised her, then turned back to Wu Ting and asked:

”Young man, this kind of research topic isn’t something a single graduate student can tackle alone. Are you still insisting that you’re the one who came up with this question? Not your team, your advisor, or perhaps one of the professors in this room?”

Professor Jin took academic integrity very seriously. For such an excellent question, he felt it was impossible to have a complete discussion with a student this young. He hoped the person truly behind it would step forward openly, which would facilitate a proper, face-to-face discussion.

Professor Jin’s sharp gaze swept over the crowd below, but no one came forward.

”Professor Jin, this really is a theoretical hypothesis that I came up with on my own. Please, stop testing me.”

”If there’s anything you’d like to discuss, Professor, I will answer every one of your questions.”

Wu Ting met Professor Jin’s gaze with calm confidence, clearly growing tired of the probing and skepticism.

Deng Feifei was surprised by Wu Ting’s reaction. ’Could this theory really be his? Otherwise, how could he be so certain and confident?’

She knew her maternal grandfather was incredibly rigorous and serious about academic discussions. If Wu Ting was exposed as a fraud after a round of questioning, it would not end well for him.

Professor Jin hadn’t expected Wu Ting to be so defiant. ’I’ve already warned him,’ he thought. ’If we start this discussion and I discover he’s lying, he can forget about ever setting foot in my classroom again.’

”Then let’s begin.”

Professor Jin underlined several terms in the question Wu Ting had posed and drew lines out from them to make annotations.

”Before we begin discussing this question, I’ll first explain some of the terminology and the current state of research in this cutting-edge field to help everyone understand.”

Professor Jin still greatly admired the question itself, thinking it was an excellent, eye-opening topic for discussion and learning.

”First, allow me to explain.”

”SIGIRR is a member of the TIR-related superfamily observed in recent years, and it is expressed in numerous tissues and organs within the body...”

”Due to its structure being different from other members of the TIR-related superfamily, SIGIRR has a specific negative regulatory role within inflammatory and immune responses, maintaining the balance of the downstream signaling pathways mediated by the TIR superfamily...”

As Professor Jin explained, he began to draw structural diagrams and create visual representations of the relevant principles to accompany the terminology.

Although Professor Jin was explaining things in simple, accessible terms, the field was ultimately too advanced and cutting-edge.

Therefore, the barrier to entry for understanding the question was still quite high. The master’s students were all lost; it was like they were listening to a foreign language.

Among the doctoral students, only those who specialized in researching negative regulation were able to keep up with Professor Jin’s pace.

As for the associate professors and lecturers, they were still able to follow along with ease. Listening to Professor Jin’s explanation, they marveled at the depth and brilliance of the question this young man had posed.

’Incredible. Most people can’t even understand the various concepts in the question itself.’

’I never thought an academic exchange between students at our college had already reached this level.’

’This is truly a battle of titans. For those of you who can understand, keep listening. I can only bow in worship.’

...

...

As Professor Jin continued his explanation, Deng Feifei also gained a deeper understanding of Wu Ting’s question, realizing just how profound it truly was.

’If this young man really came up with this question on his own, then he is truly a top-tier talent.’

Deng Feifei had accompanied her maternal grandfather to the research institute for this academic exchange with an even greater purpose in mind: to scout talent for her own R&D center.
