Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 188: Chapter 171: Forcefully Snatching a Person from King Yama’s Hands

At the operating table stood only Wu Ting, Yasui, and a few assisting nurses.

The patient’s condition had stabilized!

And in the tray, the several directors saw the mangled liver tissue that had been resected!

Wu Ting was now irrigating the patient’s abdominal cavity with saline and had finished placing a latex drainage tube under the right diaphragm...

Seeing the directors enter, Yasui exclaimed excitedly, ”Wu Ting, we did it! Director Huo and the others are here!”

Wu Ting also let out a huge sigh of relief. He had done everything he could.

Yasui took a step back, yielding his position to Director Huo. Huo Yun looked at the operating room, at everything on the table, and understood all that Wu Ting had accomplished.

”Good work.”

”Leave the rest to us.”

Huo Yun took over Wu Ting’s position as lead surgeon, and the orthopedics director, Lu Xiong, also moved into place.

”Yasui and I have completed the initial emergency treatment for the patient...”

”We established three IV lines and administered balanced salt solution and IV medication in the ambulance. At the same time, we performed a venous puncture for diagnosis. The patient had bile leakage and massive liver hemorrhage. The situation was dire, so we had to perform emergency treatment immediately...”

”After arriving at the City First Hospital’s emergency room, I arranged for blood matching and a preliminary bedside ultrasound. Once the blood transfusion began, we started the laparotomy...”

”Intraoperatively, we found the patient had rib fractures complicated by a ruptured liver and bile leakage...”

”We immediately irrigated the abdominal cavity, debrided the injured tissue, and placed drains. Due to the urgency of the liver rupture, we sutured the laceration and performed a partial hepatectomy...”

”After that, we sutured the common bile duct in the patient’s first porta hepatis...”

”Now, what remains are injuries to other organs and the rib fractures, which will require a joint operation by the directors...”

”The patient’s central venous pressure, blood pressure, urine output, heart rate, and other vitals are being monitored. All life signs are normal...”

”That concludes my report.”

Wu Ting reported his series of emergency measures and care for the traumatic liver rupture, his words clear and precise.

Although he spoke with calm indifference, the directors present were all deeply shaken.

’This Wu Ting really has the makings of a great commander. With only Xiao Xixi and Yasui to help, he single-handedly performed a breathtaking rescue.’

No one else present could have done a better job.

What impressed them most was Wu Ting’s incredibly calm decisiveness and his flawless execution of every critical emergency procedure.

Performing an abdominal paracentesis in the ambulance for a preliminary diagnosis was impressive enough.

What followed was his masterful control over the entire process, saving every possible second.

Most notably, his decision to proceed directly to a laparotomy after the bedside ultrasound, then performing the liver suture and resection intraoperatively—that level of courage and skill demanded respect.

”How incredible.”

Zhang Heng stared blankly at the young man before him, his mind reeling.

Even he couldn’t have done better, especially performing a liver suture and resection without comprehensive imaging.

’Wu Ting... is actually this skilled.’

The directors and Zhang Heng didn’t have much time for a debrief. Continuing the rescue was the priority.

Huo Yun looked at Wu Ting, asking if he wanted to continue with the next part of the surgery.

After all, Wu Ting had his shortcomings in certain skills. He shook his head and let the directors take over, quietly stepping away from the spotlight.

Seeing Wu Ting’s humility, the other directors and Zhang Heng felt a little better. ’So, this Wu Ting doesn’t know how to do *everything* after all.’

Zhang Heng, in particular, found a sliver of comfort. Now that he was taking over the subsequent organ repairs, he wouldn’t seem quite so useless.

The directors rallied their spirits and began the next phase of the rescue effort.

However, as they looked at the patient for whom Wu Ting had already completed the vast majority of the work, they couldn’t imagine how he had managed to remain so calm and efficient in the face of such a mangled patient with a ruptured liver and caved-in chest.

Zhang Heng was very familiar with liver resections. He glanced at the fragments of mangled tissue in the tray, then at the clean, beautiful, and evenly tied knots on the treated area, and couldn’t help but sigh in admiration internally.

And then there was the common bile duct that Wu Ting had sutured—that was a blind spot in Zhang Heng’s knowledge. He had not yet studied some of the special techniques for handling the common bile duct.

’This Wu Ting’s surgical abilities are far too comprehensive.’

Zhang Heng realized that all his previous judgments about Wu Ting had been wrong. This Dr. Wu was different from the other doctors at City First Hospital.

”This young man is interesting.”

After admiring the wound site Wu Ting had handled, Zhang Heng decided that after the surgery, he would get a copy of the entire emergency procedure recording to study carefully.

As it happened, he had a surgery scheduled for the next day, and he planned to invite Wu Ting to participate.

He planned to show off his own surgical skills. Wu Ting had left a deep impression on him, and he intended to return the favor.

Zhang Heng, coordinating with Huo Yun, Lu Xiong, and the others, completed the remaining procedures.

The patient made it through the emergency surgery without any further scares, and his overall vital signs were stable.

Huo Yun and the others finally had enough time to breathe, and they were all filled with emotion.

”Dr. Wu, this time we really have you to thank for your timely emergency measures. Otherwise, given the patient’s condition, he wouldn’t have even made it back to the City First Hospital emergency room, let alone survived the full surgery.”

Director Lu looked at Wu Ting, his face full of praise.

Huo Yun deeply agreed. He could hardly imagine how Wu Ting, with only Yasui assisting, had managed to accomplish all this.

Zhang Heng was equally impressed. For a large, highly vascular organ, a major rupture combined with a bile duct rupture meant that lacking knowledge or experience in any single discipline would lead to the patient’s death from massive hemorrhage and organ failure.

And that was indeed the case. In the ambulance and in the emergency room, the patient had been on the brink of death multiple times due to massive blood loss.

Huo Yun gathered the directors in the conference room for a debrief, playing back the surgical recording.

The more they analyzed and watched the recording, the more they admired Wu Ting’s astonishing performance.

It was clear the patient had neared death several times, and each time, Wu Ting had forcefully dragged him back from the clutches of King Yama.

Quickly opening the airway and establishing IV access, resuscitating and correcting his hemodynamics, the timely abdominal paracentesis... Then, after the bedside ultrasound back at City First Hospital, he proceeded directly to an exploratory laparotomy and the subsequent surgery when the patient’s condition suddenly worsened.

Rapid hemostasis, thorough debridement, elimination of dead space, and sufficient drainage...

After watching the entire thing, Zhang Heng was left with nothing but respect and admiration.

”Dr. Wu, I’m truly impressed.”

Zhang Heng was completely won over by Wu Ting’s comprehensive emergency skills. Such talent was rare, even at the Jin Province Tumor Hospital.

This level of performance would have been stunning even coming from a top director like Huo Yun. The other directors also expressed their respect as they looked at Wu Ting. ”Dr. Wu, this was all thanks to you. Incredible!”

Meanwhile, in the patient’s room, after the emergency department at City First Hospital contacted the patient’s wife, she rushed over immediately on her electric scooter.

Looking at the weak He Qiang lying in bed after a major surgery, his wife’s tears fell like rain.

”He Qiang, you damn fool! Were you really not planning on coming back? Were you really going to abandon me and our son?”

He Qiang was still unconscious post-surgery, his awareness hazy.

”He Qiang, you have to live. I... I’ll never stop you from going fishing again.”

He Qiang’s fingers twitched.

”Honey, WAHHH... I shouldn’t have said those things to you.”

Grief-stricken, his wife held He Qiang’s hand.

But in the end, his life was saved. The wife, filled with lingering fear, resolved that once He Qiang was discharged, she would have to properly thank Dr. Wu Ting, who had performed the emergency surgery on her husband.

...

...

After returning to his office, Zhang Heng repeatedly watched the recording of Wu Ting’s surgery.

”Besides his surgical skill, this Wu Ting has a steadfast will. His willingness to take on heavy responsibility at critical moments is truly remarkable.”

However, Zhang Heng was, after all, a comprehensive talent who excelled in both clinical practice and research.

’Tomorrow, I’ll have Wu Ting attend my surgery and demonstrate my transarterial chemoembolization technique. With his learning ability, he’ll surely master it after a few sessions. Then, I can invite him to help me establish this Surgical Technique here.’

Zhang Heng was quite confident in his research on mid- to late-stage liver cancer related to hepatitis B. He also believed he could win Wu Ting’s respect with his comprehensive skills in the field of hepatology.

So far, aside from Jiang Ming who was still in advanced training, he had already sized up all the doctors under Huo Yun. To be honest, not a single one had caught his eye.

This time, however, Wu Ting was special. It gave him a feeling of one hero recognizing another. Meeting Wu Ting during this trip to City First Hospital was a significant gain.

Wang Xing’e was a patient from Fuyang, a city under Xiao City’s jurisdiction. She had been receiving treatment for mid- to late-stage liver cancer at the Provincial Tumor Hospital, and her attending physician had always been Zhang Heng.

Wang Xing’e trusted Zhang Heng completely. When she heard Director Zhang had come to City First Hospital, she chose to follow him here for her treatment.

For a doctor, this was something to be very proud of.

Wang Xing’e had messaged Zhang Heng in advance to schedule an appointment.

Transarterial chemoembolization isn’t a one-time procedure. The frequency is determined by the patient’s condition and tolerance after treatment. This would be Wang Xing’e’s third time undergoing the procedure.

Zhang Heng had specifically chosen this patient for two reasons. First, to demonstrate this Surgical Technique, which hadn’t been performed at City First Hospital yet, giving Wu Ting something new to see and a motivation to learn, while also showcasing his own comprehensive skills.

Second, by using a patient who had followed him to City First Hospital, he could also display his medical prowess, the weight he held in his patients’ hearts, and his overall influence.

Early the next morning, the surgery officially began.

Director Zhang Heng was the lead surgeon, with Guo Guoguo as first assistant. Wu Ting wasn’t one to waste such an opportunity; ’even a mosquito leg is still meat,’ after all. His own skill with transarterial chemoembolization was currently far superior to Zhang Heng’s.

But he didn’t mind assisting, as it was a chance to observe any potential issues in Zhang Heng’s surgical process.

’Hopefully, this surgery will drop some new skill entries.’
