Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 175: Chapter 160: Major Drop! The Synthesis Path for the National Highest Science and Technology Award

Shen Siyuan was still young, after all, and her credentials couldn’t compare to Shao Yuqiao’s. Moreover, she had poured the vast majority of her energy into the field of immunology, so she hadn’t spent much time learning to read ECGs.

Shao Yuqiao, absorbed in thought due to the patient’s complex condition, hadn’t considered Shen Siyuan’s weakness in this area.

Suddenly, Shen Siyuan caught sight of Wu Ting beside her. ’Isn’t this kid supposed to be skilled with ECGs?’

As the saying goes, it is the disciple’s duty to take on the labor.

She couldn’t let her own personal disciple just stand by and watch.

Without a change in expression, Shen Siyuan passed the ECG into Wu Ting’s hands.

”Wu Ting, you’ve worked in the emergency department before, haven’t you?”

Wu Ting, not expecting this move from Shen Siyuan, immediately nodded.

”Then you take a look at this ECG. I’ll check your work.”

Shen Siyuan’s expression made it clear: this was the first test from his mentor.

For Wu Ting, interpreting ECGs related to cardiomyopathy was second nature.

”Yes, Professor. If I make any mistakes, please correct me.”

After taking the printout, Wu Ting put on a convincing display of humble gratitude for the opportunity, looking both earnest and slightly nervous as he began his careful analysis:

”Based on this ECG, this wave segment... we can determine the patient has right ventricular dysfunction, tricuspid insufficiency...”

”...Based on this analysis, combined with the patient’s lower extremity edema and Director Fu’s finding of a congested liver, we can correlate this with the classic ECG characteristics of cardiomyopathy to diagnose right-sided heart failure... This has led to cyanotic congenital heart disease. Hypoxia, right-sided heart failure, and liver damage from the immune response to the hepatitis B virus have caused his transaminase levels to rise to over three times the upper limit of normal...”

Although Wu Ting’s analysis reached the same conclusion as Director Shao’s famously concise one, his was far more detailed. He combined typical diagnostic methods for cardiomyopathy ECGs, methodically linking various textbook principles. It was as if he were peeling back layers of silk from a cocoon, laying bare the entire diagnostic process for all to see.

Not only did Director Shen Siyuan, who was less proficient with ECGs, understand, but even the junior doctors accompanying the other department heads found the entire principle and diagnostic result easy to grasp.

”As expected of Professor Shen’s grad student. He’s incredible.”

”Right? An expert like Director Shao makes you feel what true skill is, but someone like Wu Ting actually shows you *why* he’s skilled.”

Shen Guofeng, Shen Xiaofei, and the other directors also cast appreciative glances toward Wu Ting.

Shen Xiaofei in particular felt a slight pang of regret. Seeing Shen Siyuan and Wu Ting, the very picture of a master and her brilliant apprentice, he thought, ’Why isn’t a talent like Wu Ting my student?’

”A fine analysis. Since it’s right-sided heart failure and right ventricular dysfunction, the best treatment is open-heart surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass!”

Shen Siyuan might not have been an expert on ECG diagnosis, but once the specific cardiac issue was identified, she integrated the opinions of the other department directors and immediately proposed a treatment plan.

Shao Yuqiao nodded in agreement.

”Director Shen is right. In that case, we should perform a tricuspid annuloplasty... as well as a right atrial repair and aortic valve replacement...”

When it came to cardiac surgery, Shao Yuqiao was an absolute master.

”Once we’ve addressed the cardiac issues, the next step is to deal with the patient’s liver tumor!”

Shen Xiaofei and Director Fu began their discussion.

”The patient’s condition is complex, so we can only perform a two-stage operation. Stage one will be the cardiac surgery, and stage two will be the liver tumor resection...”

”Since the patient’s liver tumor is already in the mid-to-late stage, simple resection won’t be very effective. We’ll have to use interventional therapy. For stage two, I recommend treatment with Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization...”

Listening to the surgical plans from the two hepatic surgery directors, Shen Guofeng voiced his dissent.

”I don’t see an issue with either surgery on its own, but the patient has comorbid conditions and needs a two-stage procedure with a very short interval between them. And while Director Fu’s minimally invasive procedure is less traumatic for the patient, it inevitably won’t be able to completely clear the hepatitis B virus...”

”Furthermore, undergoing two major surgeries in quick succession will disrupt the patient’s own immunoregulatory functions, likely triggering an inflammatory response... I still see significant problems with this approach...”

Listening to the senior directors discuss such cutting-edge technical solutions, Wu Ting and Huang Dian could only listen on in bewildered awe.

It had to be said, the medical team from Jinggang University was truly the best in Jin Province, and even ranked among the nation’s elite.

Every single person in a consultation of this caliber was a top-tier figure in their field. Fan City First Hospital would have to burn incense and pray just to get one of them to visit.

Wu Ting felt an unprecedented sense of happiness and satisfaction. He had a long time ahead of him to continue his studies here in the Haijin Port medical scene.

No wonder the doctors from City First Hospital treasured these opportunities for advanced training. This was a chance to gain real knowledge, broaden one’s horizons, and renew one’s faith in the medical profession and the conviction to scale the peaks of the medical field!

Soon, Director Shen Siyuan presented her research findings—an adjuvant therapy related to immunoregulation, the only one of its kind in the country.

Shen Siyuan laid out her reasoning in meticulous detail. As they listened to her plan, the other directors nodded silently in approval.

It was the first time Wu Ting had felt the full force of his mentor’s charisma from up close.

To be able to win over this circle of male directors so completely... Shen Siyuan truly was the ”maniac” who lived and breathed research!

After another half-hour of detailed deliberation, they finalized a comprehensive surgical plan.

The operation would be divided into two stages. For the first stage, Director Shao and Shen Siyuan would collaborate on the cardiac bypass surgery. Director Shao would be the lead surgeon, while Director Shen would be responsible for the immunoregulatory adjuvant therapy.

For the second stage, Director Fu of Hepatic Tumor Surgery would be responsible for the Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization, with Director Shen again handling the immunoregulatory adjuvant therapy.

Of course, Shen Siyuan’s immunoregulatory therapy could only improve the success rate of the surgery and reduce the patient’s postoperative complications to a certain degree.

However, this immunoregulatory therapy still had a long way to go; there was still much room for improvement.

Watching all these top experts showcase their unique talents during the consultation, Wu Ting was filled with respect for the Haijin Port team.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host, for participating in a high-level, high-difficulty, comprehensive grand consultation with Director of Hepatic-Biliary Surgery Shen Xiaofei, Director of Emergency Medicine Shen Guofeng, Vice Director of Cardiac Surgery Shen Siyuan, Director of Hepatic Tumor Surgery Fu Jinfen, and Director of Infectious Diseases Ou Xiaodong. You have obtained an entry from Director Shen Siyuan: Immunoregulation Theory (Purple). Professor Shen’s research on immunoregulation is still a work-in-progress, with significant room for improvement.]

[Obtained an entry from Director Fu Jinfen: Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization (Purple). A cutting-edge, minimally invasive technique with excellent therapeutic outcomes for patients with late-stage hepatocellular carcinoma from hepatitis B. This technology is only practiced in a few top domestic hospitals.]

[Entry Synthesis Recommendation: Immunoregulation Theory (Purple) + Traditional Treatment Theory for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis (Purple) + Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein Theory (Purple) = Immune Negative Regulation Therapy for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis (Black), Radical Cure for Primary Hepatitis B Cancer: Stage Two.]

[Missing Entries: Traditional Treatment Theory for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis (Purple), Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein Theory (Purple).]

’This grand consultation, bringing together all these top experts, really dropped some top-tier entries for me!’ he thought.

[Entry Synthesis Recommendation: Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization (Purple) + Anti-Hepatitis B Drug: Fengmu Tiada (Purple) = Late-Stage Hepatitis B Liver Cancer Therapy (Black), Radical Cure for Primary Hepatitis B Cancer: Stage Three.]

[Missing Entry: Anti-Hepatitis B Drug: Fengmu Tiada (Purple). An extract found in the classic texts of National Medicine; a miracle drug for hepatitis B.]

[Note: In traditional medicine, the liver is the organ of ’Wind’ and ’Wood.’ Its qi is meant to ascend and spread, favoring free flow and abhorring stagnation. This miracle drug will require the Host to spend a significant amount of time on research and development.]

[Note: The Radical Cure for Primary Hepatitis B Cancer (Red) is divided into four therapeutic stages, corresponding respectively to: early prediction of hepatitis B-related liver cancer, treatment for early-to-mid-stage hepatitis B cirrhosis, treatment for mid-to-late-stage primary hepatitis B cancer, and finally, late-stage post-operative therapy to prevent viral reactivation. Once all four stages are acquired, they can be synthesized into: Radical Cure for Primary Hepatitis B Cancer (Red).]

[Note: This systematic therapy can provide a complete and radical cure for primary hepatocellular carcinoma caused by hepatitis B. It represents a truly world-shaking, top-tier medical achievement, worthy of the National Supreme Science and Technology Award.]

[Note: The National Supreme Science and Technology Award is the highest honor in Jin Country’s scientific community. No more than two individuals win each year, and to date, only 33 distinguished scientists have received it. These winners are essentially peerless scholars of the nation, equivalent to academicians! The prize is awarded across all fields. The famous Tu Youyou in the medical field was the first native scientist from Jin Country to win a Nobel Prize in a Science category!]

The fact that a path derived from Professor Shen Siyuan’s Immunoregulation Theory could, through continuous upgrades, lead to the complete eradication of primary hepatitis B cancer left Wu Ting utterly shaken.

’That’s the National Supreme Science and Technology Award!’

It was undoubtedly the highest aspiration for every researcher in Jin Country’s medical field, and perhaps its entire scientific community.

However, Wu Ting also understood that the road to acquiring all the entries for these four stages was long and arduous.

For the stage two Immune Negative Regulation Therapy for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis alone, he was already missing two entries, both of which, without a doubt, would be extremely difficult to acquire.

As for stage three, it only seemed to require two entries, but one of them—the supposed anti-Hepatitis B miracle drug derived from the texts of National Medicine—was in the field of pharmaceutical R&D, an area he knew nothing about.

He certainly couldn’t dive deep into that anytime soon.

As for stages one and four, he hadn’t obtained a single entry yet. They were nothing but castles in the sky for now.

’I’ll just have to wait for future opportunities!’

Still, Wu Ting understood that if he could complete even one of these four stages, it would be a godsend for patients with hepatitis B and would change the fate of countless families.

Even if a single-stage cure didn’t win him the National Supreme Science and Technology Award, he would still have a shot at the provincial and ministerial-level awards.

Wu Ting wasn’t in a rush. For now, the most realistic and achievable goal was stage two: Immunoregulation Theory (Purple) + Traditional Treatment Theory for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis (Purple) + Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein Theory (Purple) = Immune Negative Regulation Therapy for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis (Black).

Later, Wu Ting planned to consult with Professor Shen Siyuan about the Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein Theory. He was also preparing to make it the topic of his graduate research.

As for the Traditional Treatment Theory for Hepatitis B Cirrhosis (Purple), he would just have to find more opportunities to collaborate with the director of Hepatic Tumor Surgery and see if his gacha-luck would bless him with an entry drop!

He never expected to get an entry with so much potential on his very first day with his graduate mentor.
