Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 154: Chapter 144: High-Level Talent Introduction and Primary-Level Physician Recruitment Plan

In the research center’s office, with the expert consensus meeting having come to a successful conclusion, everyone was finally able to relax.

Now, all that was left was to follow through with the plan.

Dr. Yan Xi received a call from her professor. A short while later, Shen Guofeng sent her the digital files for two forms.

Shen Guofeng didn’t explain the specifics; he just told her to print them.

After receiving the files, Yan Xi was a little surprised when she saw what they were. However, it was an instruction from her professor, so she didn’t think much of it and printed the two forms.

’I wonder which physician is so lucky, getting to join the Jin Province Medical Association Surgery Branch.’

Yan Xi went ahead and printed out the forms.

Everyone in the office used the same printer.

As Yan Xi was printing, Jin Yan was also printing out some documents.

She walked over, saw the two forms, and exclaimed in surprise,

”Oh? ’Jin Province Medical Association Surgery Branch Recommendation Form’ and ’Jin Province Medical Association Surgery Branch Application Form.’ Who printed these?”

Hearing Jin Yan’s exclamation, Yan Xi immediately stood up.

”Dr. Jin, they’re mine. I was the one who printed them.”

Jin Yan was clearly surprised to see it was Yan Xi, and she teased,

”Well now, Dr. Yan! Secretly preparing to apply to the Jin Province Medical Association Surgery Branch, are we?”

”But becoming a member of a provincial medical association isn’t so easy. I applied to the Xianglin City branch before. I even got recommendations from our department director and another professor, but I was still rejected in the end.”

”To become a member, you need recommendations from at least two existing members, and you also have to meet some strict personal criteria. Besides publications, you need to have a solid reputation in the field.”

”Dr. Yan, I’m not trying to discourage you, but with your current academic standing and accomplishments, getting accepted will be difficult. I think you should wait a bit. Try again once you’re more established.”

Jin Yan’s words were sincere. Yan Xi had only just completed her doctoral dissertation. And while she had achieved a small success this time, she was still a long way from qualifying for membership.

The other people in the research center office—Dr. Ling Ling, Yasui, and Cheng Feng—were sorting through some files. Hearing Jin Yan and Yan Xi’s conversation, they also glanced over.

”Dr. Yan, I also think it’s a bit premature for you to apply for membership in the Surgery Branch of the Jin Province Medical Association.”

”Besides, applying for membership requires a lot of documentation. You have to fill out forms and find sponsors... it’s a huge investment of time and energy. Dr. Yan, we still have to apply for the Youth Fund project together. I think you should wait until after our funding comes through, then give it a try.”

As Professor Ma’s star student, Dr. Ling Ling was of course very familiar with the qualifications for joining the medical association.

Frankly, there wasn’t a person present who didn’t want to be recommended for membership. But it was incredibly difficult, the process was tedious, and the average person truly lacked the energy and credentials.

Of course, once you became a member of the medical association, you had the chance to run for positions like associate director and director. For a doctor, these appointments were more than just a symbol of status; they also provided an advantage in many situations.

On a personal level, for instance, it gave you an edge in evaluations for professional titles and job promotions. On a larger scale, having someone with a position in the medical association could help the entire department score better when competing for project funding and other selections.

Take, for example, the emergency department’s application to become a designated key specialty for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment. In the scoring criteria, points were awarded for having an innovation group from a National Natural Science Fund project, for team members who had held part-time positions in academic societies in the last three years, and for members of the medical association.

Hearing everyone’s advice, Dr. Yan Xi blushed and quickly explained,

”Oh, no, you’ve all misunderstood. I know my own limits.”

”I wouldn’t dare apply for membership in the Jin Province Medical Association Surgery Branch. My professor, Professor Shen, just asked me to print these for him. He’s coming to pick them up in a bit.”

”As for who the application is for, I didn’t pry.”

After hearing Yan Xi’s explanation, everyone realized it had all been a misunderstanding.

Still, they couldn’t help but feel a little envious of the doctor for whom Professor Shen was personally handling the recommendation and application forms.

After a few more remarks, they all went back to their work.

The immediate priority was to get the Youth Fund project application submitted. Now that the paper was published, all the prerequisites were met. All that was left was to submit the application online.

「City First Hospital, Dean’s Office.」

Dean Tang, Dean Liu, and Huo Yun were holding a small meeting.

Dean Tang gave high praise to Director Huo’s team.

Dean Liu was also pleasantly surprised; he hadn’t expected the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center, established in conjunction with the Emergency Department, to be so successful.

”Director Huo, your research center’s expert consensus was a great success. In particular, having the training, assessment, and certification for surgeons performing the Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy based at our hospital is a huge boost to our overall influence. It will have a profound and positive impact on our reputation.”

”Your team’s performance was excellent this time, especially the team led by Dr. Wu Ting. They will be publicly commended at the next hospital-wide meeting.”

”We’re also approaching the recruitment and talent acquisition period for the second half of the year. The hospital leadership has taken note of the research center’s performance and potential.”

”For this year’s recruitment quotas, the hospital will prioritize your research center as much as possible. By bringing in both high-level talent and staff for regular positions, we aim to expand the center’s scale and enhance its overall capabilities.”

After conveying the hospital’s stance, Dean Tang began to ask for Director Huo’s opinion.

”Director Huo, regarding this year’s recruitment, I’ll need you to go back and draw up a plan, especially for acquiring high-level talent. I will have the HR department follow up to ensure the continued growth and development of our research center.”

Hearing Dean Tang’s statement of support, Director Huo was thrilled, eagerly rubbing his hands together and ready to make big moves.

”Then let me first thank the hospital leadership for their support. Indeed, our research center has now basically brought the first phase of its development to a perfect conclusion.”

”Currently, our core project, led by Wu Ting’s team, is about to apply for the Youth Fund project. And the various Surgical Techniques from phase one are gradually maturing.”

”So, I intend to bring in a new batch of doctors to take over the routine implementation of the new Surgical Techniques from Wu Ting’s core team. This will free them up to learn even newer techniques and take on new research projects.”

”Furthermore, in conjunction with our phase two development, I’m preparing to begin the application process for our department to be designated a provincial key discipline in laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology.”

”To support this key discipline application, our current staff is woefully inadequate. Therefore, for high-level talent acquisition, I need to bring in at least two more doctors with senior titles. Ideally, they should be members of the medical association or hold even higher positions. If we could get people from programs like the City’s Hundred Talents Plan, Leading Talents, or Distinguished Young Scholars, that would be even better.”

”I’ve run the numbers. For the key discipline application, if Wu Ting’s team can secure the Youth Fund project, we’ll have a great foundation, building on our existing Surgical Techniques and publications. If we can supplement that with the bonus points from recruiting senior-titled talent and medical association members, I’m confident we can secure the key discipline status alongside our phase two development.”

”And once phase two of the research center is complete, we’ve secured the provincial key discipline status, and the new office building on the south campus is finished, I plan to move the center there. It will become an independent entity—a true, world-class international research center!”

Currently, the research center’s staff and facilities were shared with the emergency center. Huo Yun hoped that by next year, it could be fully independent. Only then could the research center truly realize its full potential!

The two deans were very supportive and appreciative of Huo Yun’s great ambition.

”Then let’s wait for the latest public membership list from the Jin Province Medical Association. We’ll use that to scout and recruit these high-level talents.”

”As for recruiting junior staff, once your department has a plan, submit it to us. We will integrate it with the hospital’s overall recruitment plan before making the final decision.”

After some further discussion with Dean Tang and Dean Liu, Director Huo left the office brimming with confidence.

Back in his department, Huo Yun promptly called a meeting with his staff.

The research center staff received a notification in their group chat to gather in the main conference room for a meeting.

Seeing that Professor Shen hadn’t arrived yet, Yan Xi placed the two forms on her desk. She gave her professor a quick call to let him know, snapped a photo of the forms for him, and then headed to the meeting with the others.

Shen Guofeng, Shen Xiaofei, and Wu Ting arrived just as the research center staff was leaving; they just missed each other.

Of course, Wu Ting had also seen the meeting notice in the group chat.

He walked over to Yan Xi’s workstation with Professor Shen, picked up the two forms, and with Professor Shen’s guidance, filled in his name, age, contact number, and other basic information.

”Alright, that’s enough. I’ll take care of the rest of the information and documents for you.”

Professor Shen knew Wu Ting had a department meeting to get to, so he immediately collected the hastily filled-out forms.

Director Shen Xiaofei watched from the side, amused. This was the sloppiest, least formal application he had ever seen.

Any other doctor would have filled out the forms with the utmost care and respect, double- and triple-checking everything before finding a sponsor to sign. The whole process would take a week at a minimum, maybe even two.

But Wu Ting just jotted down the basics, leaving the rest completely blank.

Then again, he thought, Wu Ting was hand-picked by Dean Song, a current director of the Jin Province Medical Association, and personally invited to apply by Shen Guofeng, an alternate director. With backing like that, it probably didn’t matter how the forms were filled out.

Wu Ting felt completely detached from the process, simply watching as Professor Shen took the forms away. It all happened so fast he didn’t even have time to take a commemorative photo.

’Just write a few words and that’s it?’

’Didn’t they say it was hard to get into the medical association? This is so easy anyone could do it!’

After completing the formality, Shen Guofeng casually informed him,

”Wu Ting, I’ve looked over your application materials. The writing is... um, very good.”

”Now, you just have to wait for the medical association to announce this year’s new members. Congratulations on joining the Jin Province Medical Association Surgery Branch.”

With that, Professor Shen and Director Shen took their leave.

After watching the two of them leave, Wu Ting prepared to head to the conference room for the meeting.

By the time Wu Ting arrived at the conference room, everyone was already present. Seeing him arrive, Director Huo formally began the meeting.

”I’ve called everyone together for a quick meeting today. The topic is the future development of our research center... specifically, the recruitment and hiring of high-level talent and junior physicians...”

”...and also about building on our existing Surgical Techniques to expand our repertoire by learning and introducing new ones...”
