Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Mr. Hughes, it’s a misunderstanding, it’s a misunderstanding, how is this possible?” The traffic bureau chief on the other end of the phone was sweating profusely, with beads of sweat as big as beans dropping down. Who was so oblivious to dare stop this big shot’s car?

The newly recruited policeman listened as he repeatedly called out the chief’s name, watching the man’s arm stretch out from the car, the cufflinks gleaming coldly in the dim light, distinctly marked with an ”H”.

He cautiously took the phone and brought it to his ear, ”Hello?”

Before he could finish speaking, the voice on the other end sharply raised by eight degrees, as if trying to leap out from the luxurious phone.

”I’m not well, I’m very unwell, which team are you from, whose subordinate are you, are you reckless, or do you want me dead? How dare you stop Mr. Hughes’ car? Now go apologize immediately, let them pass. If Mr. Hughes is unhappy about anything, you might as well not come to work tomorrow...” The words from the phone hammered into his head, making it ache painfully, word by word.

The stunned rookie cop hung up the phone, dumbly handing it back to the man in the car.

Avery Jane watched the scene unfold before her, feeling Joshua Hughes’ anger. It wasn’t that she didn’t sense it, but he was indeed wrong first.

You’re not supposed to stop on a road like this, and he’s just another innocent person, persecuted by such a man like her.

This kind of man is always unreasonable. He was the one in the wrong, yet he consistently shifted the blame onto others, causing them to bear the most frightening consequences.

”Forget it, let’s go.” Avery Jane whispered.

Her low voice seemed to carry a slight tremor, perhaps from the lingering passion.

Or maybe she couldn’t stand the sight in front of her, perhaps even feeling somewhat empathetic. Her heart was a complex mix of emotions.

Joshua Hughes looked at her, her pale face glowing with a blush, rare for her to speak up, but this time for someone else. In her eyes, were all his actions wrong?

Such a naive girl, Joshua Hughes looked at her delicate youthful face, his mood suddenly improved, taking the phone from the dumbstruck cop, his thin lips curling slightly with a hint of a smile.

The black luxurious business car started up again, smoothly merging into the flow of traffic on the road.

Watching the car’s seamless lines like a deep-sea fish, the rookie cop continued to stand there dumbfounded. The girl sitting in the car earlier seemed like a fairy sister, even her voice was incredibly lovely. She pleaded for him, does this mean everything is okay now?

”Did you think I was wrong just now, hmm?” Joshua Hughes gripped the steering wheel, his fingers long and clearly defined, full of strength. The thought made Avery Jane’s face blush in the slowly arriving twilight, her long hair covering her red face and unease.

”You never think you’re wrong.” Avery Jane said quietly, she couldn’t say ’yes, it’s your fault.’ How could this man, powerful and wealthy, ever be wrong?

”You’re very smart, Avery Jane, but how could someone as intelligent as you not know the result of our entanglement? Why endure the outside conflicts until you’re beaten black and blue before climbing into my bed, compared to satisfying me now, you’d be more embarrassed at that time.” Joshua Hughes’ deep voice spoke of a harsh reality.

He said it with full confidence, but would that day really come?

It’s only a month, she can withstand it.

Avery Jane looked at the windshield, the slowly darkening sky outside. Was her future as muddled and unclear as this twilight?

A touch of dread welled up inside her, afraid that no matter how hard she tried, the outcome would be just as he said.

Will she have to be battered and bruised before lying in his bed, will it truly be like that?

Clearly, winter hasn’t arrived yet, clearly, the car windows are tightly closed, but she somehow felt a chill.

”Get out of the car.”

After driving for a while, Joshua Hughes’ car came to a stop, he got out and walked to the passenger seat door, opening it and looking at her.

Avery Jane stared at him for a moment, his changes always caught people off guard, just like now he seemed gentlemanly, but the more poised and polite he was, the more terrified Avery Jane felt.
