Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Avery Jane changed her clothes, put on her casual wear, and glanced around; the sky was starting to darken gradually.

Her heart, with the encroaching loneliness of dusk, sighed softly.

It was another lonely and cold night, no one would say goodnight quietly before she slept anymore. There would no longer be a gentle goodnight kiss on her forehead, nor would anyone drive out on the coldest night to get her a bowl of wonton noodles, never again.

”Avery, let’s have dinner together to celebrate our pleasant cooperation today.” Beckett Wright walked over gently, noticing the loneliness and desolation in this girl’s eyes, something she should not bear at her age.

”No need, thank you, Mr. Wright.” Avery declined his invitation. Sometimes when pain is unavoidable, she chose to embrace it.

Just like her current mood, she wanted to find a quiet place, to enjoy solitude, to quietly reminisce the past alone.

Before Beckett had a chance to speak, a luxurious business car stopped precisely in front of Avery and Beckett. Avery’s heart fluttered nervously, it seemed like that man’s car.

While still guessing, the car window slowly rolled down, and Joshua Hughes’ handsome and sharp face came into view.

Avery instinctively stepped back, how could it be him, what did he want here again?

Truly haunting like a lingering spirit.

”Get in.”

Joshua’s voice rose from inside the car, low and magnetic, carrying a hint of impatience and mild displeasure. Although it sounded like an invitation, Avery saw the undeniable dominance and threat in his eyes.

He had said that she could only belong to him, those who dared to act otherwise would die.

The icy feeling surged again, even though winter hadn’t arrived yet, she had already felt the bone-piercing cold, freezing her heart nearly to numbness.

The darkening sky made his features seem even sharper. Avery snapped out of her daze, gritted her teeth, and opened the back car door. The closer she was to this man, the more she felt like a small animal paralyzed by anesthesia, unable to move and left to his mercy.

”You should know where to sit.” Still a threat, unavoidable, the front passenger door was already open by him. Avery looked at the open car door, like a terrifying monster ready to swallow her, rip her apart.

Seeing her obediently get in, Joshua’s anger between his brows eased slightly, and he drove off silently.

How did he know she was here?

Why did he come?

What did he intend to do?

A series of questions surfaced like bubbles rising from the depths.

Avery lowered her eyes, not daring to guess what would happen next?

Because this man’s actions always defied expectations, and she believed there was nothing he wouldn’t dare do, as long as he wanted to.

But the more she didn’t want to speculate, the more uncomfortable she felt. She was so close to him, she could clearly feel the strong presence emanating from him, impossible to ignore.

Like his indomitable and unshakeable icy aura, a subtle dangerous feeling hovered like a memory-grown hand, ready to pounce on her whenever he approached, offering no escape.

Beckett watched from afar as Avery got into that car, he could see her cautiousness.

And amidst such caution, there was much reluctance, yet she still got in. She should have intended to sit at the back seat, but perhaps after a hint, she automatically moved to the front passenger seat.

It was clear, she was somewhat afraid of the car’s owner.
