Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”You speak lightly, but I want you to swear that you will never go to Joshua again, or else my brother won’t rest in peace even in death. I want you to swear,” Evelyn pressed relentlessly.

Since this woman can speak so eloquently, let her words be proven true by an oath. If she truly loves my brother so much, let her swear on him. She wanted to see how this woman would respond.

”Evelyn, don’t go too far,” Brian Yates looked at Avery Jane, noticing her pale face and trembling lips upon hearing the words ’won’t rest in peace even in death.’

He knew how much such an oath would hurt her. However, a trace of relief flashed in Brian Yates’s eyes, undetectable to others. If Avery Jane really made this oath, then she would certainly sever ties with the dangerous man Joshua Hughes.

Because he knew how important his brother was to Avery Jane, he couldn’t ignore the unusual behavior Joshua Hughes had shown that day.

He seemed extremely interested in Avery Jane. That man was very dangerous and a formidable opponent. The first time, he lost to his brother, so this time he couldn’t underestimate him again.

She didn’t often cry, but seeing these so-called family members, her heart had long shed tears of sorrow. What did this even count for?

She was striving to fulfill Lucas Yates’s last wishes, even almost selling her dignity, yet these Yates Family members wanted to push her into an even more difficult situation, leaving her no room to retreat.

All three people in the hall were looking at her, Avery Jane’s heart slowly sank, almost plunging into a bottomless abyss.

”Are you afraid to swear? You want to seduce Joshua Hughes; you are jealous that I can go to the Hughes Family. You’ve lost your husband and don’t want others to find love. You are a venomous woman,” Evelyn said, seeing Avery Jane silent, indicating that she wanted to continue seducing Joshua Hughes.

”Avery Jane, if you continue like this, then I’ll have to ask you to leave the Hughes Family. We originally planned to demolish that small building that Lucas lived in to expand the garden. Better if you move out sooner,” Harper Johnson had always wanted an opportunity to kick Avery Jane out. If things developed like this, it was a good chance.

”Don’t force me to rely on Joshua Hughes. If anyone dares to touch Lucas’s study, then you all can try and see if I can convince Joshua Hughes to buy the Yates Family,” Avery Jane’s cold eyes lost their usual docility.

These so-called family members were doing things even strangers wouldn’t do.

Wenyard Cooper had only been gone for six months, and they already wanted to demolish his small building.

It was the place where he lived since childhood, with several rooms filled with his favorite books and notes he wrote over years of research. It was a place she cherished, where she most wanted to guard.

”What did you say, Avery Jane, say it again?” Evelyn almost couldn’t believe what she heard. This woman was crazy; she was now openly challenging her as the rightful woman of Joshua Hughes.

”I’m saying if you dare to touch anything of Lucas’s while he was alive, if I can’t protect it myself, I’ll just have to seek someone else for help. Joshua Hughes might be an excellent choice; I believe he would agree with me.” Avery Jane confidently raised her face, still beautiful despite the redness and swelling, and her black-and-white eyes carried emotions hard to grasp. The usual restraint gradually receded, and a sharp aura slowly emerged.

”You’re lying. He’s my man. How could he help you?” Evelyn was so angry her face turned pale. If possible, she would have rushed over and torn this woman to pieces, completely destroying her.

”You can try. I’ll say it one last time; I’m not interested in Joshua Hughes. But if you keep pushing me, who knows, perhaps one day I’ll really go find him. Evelyn, you’re Lucas’s sister. I’m letting this pass today, but there won’t be a next time, understood?” Avery Jane stated each word clearly.

She wasn’t the type to endure everything meekly; she didn’t want to become such a woman. She promised Lucas Yates to live well, so she didn’t want to wrong herself.

Only Evelyn knew that Joshua Hughes was not as mesmerized by her as he appeared. He wasn’t interested in her, even with all her efforts.

However, Harper didn’t know. From appearances, Joshua Hughes had already shown interest in her daughter.

The wealthiest and most noble man becoming her son-in-law was just a matter of time.

Because in the past ten years, Joshua Hughes had never visited any woman’s home, yet he came to their house, showing her daughter was unique.

”What a bold statement, Avery Jane, move out now. I’m in charge here. If you can really bring Mr. Hughes here, I won’t trouble you.” Harper Johnson gritted her teeth in anger; she didn’t believe it. She wanted to see what method Avery Jane had to move that giant Buddha.

”Mom, what are you doing? Avery Jane isn’t that kind of person; I believe she won’t compete with Evelyn for a man. Don’t force her,” Brian Yates looked at Avery Jane’s stubborn face, knowing the situation was tricky.

At first, he thought if Avery Jane would just go along with everyone and make the oath, everyone would be at peace.

He could finally be reassured.

But beyond his expectations, Avery Jane would say such things.

It’s not hard to imagine how angry she was inside; otherwise, she wouldn’t have acted like that.

If he let his mother continue messing around, it’s possible they’d really push Avery Jane to Joshua Hughes, which would completely backfire on him.

As a man, he knew about Avery Jane’s inexplicable allure; it was an irresistible, captivating trait.

Avery Jane gave Brian Yates a meaningful look; she knew what this man was thinking perfectly clearly.

From when they met, she knew, but she never wanted to address it, intending to leave some room since they were all part of the Yates Family and would always meet.

If he sincerely wanted to help her, he would have spoken up from the start. Why wait till the situation escalated to such an irreparable state?

Her gaze slowly turned into a frost-edged blade, coldly cutting through his hypocrisy. In that instant, Brian Yates felt almost unable to face Avery Jane; there were so many good ways to protect her and prove his sincerity, yet he foolishly chose the worst one.

At some point, Avery Jane took out her phone from her bag and, in front of everyone, her slender fingers lightly touched the keyboard, dialing a number in front of Evelyn.

The unique and arrogant string of numbers highlighted its owner’s extraordinary status.

Evelyn’s face gradually turned pale, her eyes filled with disbelief and fear. She really dialed Joshua Hughes’s number.

Joshua Hughes never gave her his number, but Evelyn intuitively knew Avery Jane was calling Joshua Hughes.

In a vast office, several senior managers were tense, attending a meeting, with the man sitting at the center leaning back, lazily like a leopard napping on the plains.

A lengthy and dull statistical report deepened the frowns on his face...
