Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

What he wanted couldn’t be more obvious, but she didn’t want to give it.

Yet she still wanted to try once more. It seemed like Angela Scott’s words were still ringing in her ears: ”Avery, sometimes women shouldn’t be too aloof, otherwise you would really suffer a big loss in this circle. So many stars and models want to catch Mr. Hughes’ attention, but now he’s so interested in you. You need to seize this opportunity, alright?”

Aloof, actually, she wasn’t aloof. She just didn’t want to do things she didn’t want to do, is that considered aloof?

Wenyard Cooper had just left her not long ago, did that mean she had to eagerly jump into another man’s arms?

Joshua Hughes seemed to have already predicted that she would come to him. Entering the exclusive elevator, watching the numbers rapidly stack up layer by layer, she took a deep breath, as if a big stone was pressing on her chest, tighter and heavier, until she could barely breathe.

”Miss Jane, please wait in the office for a moment, the president will be out shortly.” Avery Jane watched as the sexy secretary gently pushed open Joshua Hughes’ office door for her. As she walked in, the door was gently closed.

Avery’s heart inexplicably skipped a beat, as the door closed, it felt like she was shut inside a cage. His office was so cold it made her shiver.

Nowhere could you find such a luxurious and extravagant cage, Avery stood in front of that whole wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out, feeling a dizzying vertigo for no reason; she was afraid of high places, but what about that man?

Time passed slowly, second by second, the whole room was so quiet that she could only hear her own gentle breathing. She lowered her head, staring at her insteps, her mind drifting off to somewhere unknown.

”Miss Jane, what brings you to my territory today?” Avery Jane collected her wandering thoughts, looked up, and there was Joshua Hughes.

”You, why?” Avery glanced up briefly, then quickly lowered her head, her cheeks burning.

This audacious man appeared in such an office, with nothing but a towel wrapped around his body, right in front of her, leaving Avery’s mind blank; she didn’t even know how this man managed to appear before her out of nowhere.

His gaze was like a sharp arrow, piercing accurately into her heart. Even when she looked up, she could feel that invisible oppressive force overwhelming her. This man, even in dishevelment, was enough to make people bow to his majesty.

”Do you have something to say?” His low voice rose in this vast office, filled with magnetism, his words carrying his usual confidence and nobility.

Joshua Hughes sat on the sofa opposite her, as if not caring at all about his appearance, his eyes as dark as black diamonds, sizing up Avery Jane with interest.

”Mr. Hughes, I want to audition.” Avery Jane spoke straightforwardly, with this man in front of her, there was no point beating around the bush, he surely knew the purpose of her visit today.

”Audition?” Joshua looked at her lowered face, her slightly shy look inexplicably made his heart tremble slightly.

”Yes, audition, I would like to ask Mr. Hughes not to make things difficult for me on this opportunity, after all, I still wish to try achieving it with my own strength.” Avery spoke with difficulty, she wanted to fulfill Wenyard’s wish with her own strength, as if she was guarding a sacred ground in her heart.
