Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

The housekeeper glanced at her coldly, as if looking at a monster: ”It’s not our place as servants to ask about Mr. Hughes’s whereabouts, but he won’t be back until two days later. If Miss Yates wants to go home, I can arrange a car for you.”

Of course she wanted to go home. She would sit in the car the Hughes Family prepared for her and return to the Yates Family, letting those people see clearly. One day, she would trample them all underfoot.

”Evelyn, how is Mr. Hughes? Is he treating you well?” The seating arrangement at the dining table had changed. The seat originally occupied by the first wife was today arranged for the second wife, who was Evelyn Yates’ mother, Harper Johnson.

”He treats me very well. After seeing me, he chose me right away and didn’t say another word to anyone else.” Evelyn Yates smiled inwardly with pride, like fireworks blooming in the night sky.

But on the surface, she lowered her head with a slight hint of shyness.

She was a gentle and shy girl, and in front of everyone, she had always been like this.

”That’s good, that’s good...” Arthur Yates was so excited his eyes sparkled.

Since his most beloved eldest son, Lucas Yates, died in a car accident, he hadn’t been this happy for over half a year. He once believed that without Lucas, the Yates Family had no hope. Unexpectedly, his daughter was able to catch Joshua Hughes’s eye, which made him feel that there was hope in life again.

With someone like Joshua Hughes as a banner, who in the business world wouldn’t give him some respect?

”Where’s my brother?” Evelyn Yates looked at the dining table. There weren’t many people today.

The first wife sat there quietly eating, but her biological brother, the second young master of the Yates Family, Brian Yates, was nowhere to be found.

”Little Avery is going out tonight. Brian was worried, so he went with her.” The first wife, Remi Wright, who hadn’t spoken until now, moved her chopsticks and said quietly.

”Is Little Avery unable to stand Evelyn being chosen by Mr. Hughes or what? She hasn’t stepped out of the house in the past six months, so why did she choose today to go out?” Harper Johnson had been displeased with Avery Jane for some time.

Previously, Lucas Yates was favored, and Avery Jane was his most beloved woman, so to keep the peace in the Yates Family, she couldn’t vent her frustrations. But now, it’s different. Harper Johnson stood tall now, and as long as she felt like it, who could protect Avery Jane if she wanted to teach her a lesson?

Even Remi Wright couldn’t, as she was barely able to keep herself safe now.

”It’s nothing like that. She really has something to do today, Harper, please be more understanding,” Remi Wright knew Avery Jane was having a hard time in the Yates Family now, but she was the apple of her beloved son’s eye. Even if her son were gone, she would protect Avery Jane for as long as she could.

”Sister, you make it sound so formal; it’s not about whether I’m understanding or not. Now, see how much Mr. Hughes likes Evelyn. If Evelyn comes home and doesn’t have the whole family to accompany her for a meal, she won’t be happy, and naturally, Mr. Hughes won’t be happy either. Dear, what do you think we should do?” Harper Johnson laughed secretly. She finally had a say at the Yates Family dining table.

When she first entered the Yates Family, she didn’t even have a seat at the table, but now she could do as she pleased. Who could say anything against her?

Arthur Yates frowned, scolding in a low voice: ”Remi, don’t let Avery go out anymore. Make her stay at home. Evelyn likes her desserts, so have her make some for Evelyn.”

Remi Wright felt a sharp pain in her heart. That was her son’s most beloved woman...

How had she fallen so far in just half a year, reduced to being a servant making desserts for Evelyn Yates?

”I might not be able to come home often, but I really love the desserts sister-in-law makes. I just wonder if she could come to the Hughes Family to make them in the future?” Evelyn Yates’s lowered eyes held a cunning and sinister gleam that no one else could detect.

”Whenever you want to eat them, let her come. Of course, she can come. Now that the Yates Family is supporting her, would she dare not come?” Arthur Yates looked at Evelyn Yates’s face, indeed as fair as jade, no wonder Joshua Hughes was smitten by her.

If this woman could win over Joshua Hughes in a year, the Yates Family would have smooth sailing ahead with endless wealth and prestige.

”Thank you, Dad. It’s just that I’ll be burdening sister-in-law, but our dear aunt heartily worries about her.” Evelyn Yates joked, looking at Remi Wright, who sat silently with her head lowered.
