Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Joshua Hughes watched as she cautiously climbed down from the bed, stepping barefoot onto the white long-haired carpet.

Her feet were beautiful, following the lovely curve of her calves down to slender and sexy ankles, small and pristine feet, with smooth and youthful insteps. Her toenails, without nail polish, displayed a natural and healthy light pink, with five tiny toes slightly rounded.

Avery Jane quickly put on her shoes, sensing the peculiarity in his gaze.

”Today, you made me very comfortable, so I’m giving you two choices: First, follow me, and I’ll solve all your future problems. Second, I can give you an opportunity to audition, but that’s where it stops,” Joshua Hughes’ voice rumbled lowly from his seductive thin lips.

He stood before her like a god, with a severe and intimidating presence in his bold eyebrows and eyes. His words seemed sharp and unfeeling.

Avery Jane’s heart sank, and it felt as if the air had turned heavy, as though time itself ceased to exist.

She fell into her own thoughts. If she followed him, all she needed to give was her body, and Wenyard Cooper’s experiment would have enough funds to succeed. But could she really do that?

She couldn’t convince herself to give her body to a man she’d barely met, considering such an idea both incredible and even somewhat disgusting.

She didn’t like any man approaching her besides Wenyard.

Her eyes carried a hint of haze, and the fragrance from her body spread like a thread pulled from tangled yarn, invading this space strategically and wrapping around as if trying to bind him, waiting for her answer.

The room was calm, but the man’s eyes brewed a terrible danger, like a beast driven by lust ready to devour her at any moment.

This woman still wanted to refuse him, and his gaze turned icy and oppressive, fixating on her, not missing a single change in her subtle expressions.

”Thank you, Mr. Hughes, I still choose the same. There are some things I want to try on my own,” Avery Jane said a bit nervously, her breath accompanied by her gentle fragrance fluttering in the air.

Sometimes, refusing requires courage, even more so when rejecting a man like him with such demands. His offer was tempting enough to move her, enough to attract her, rejecting him again took almost every ounce of her courage.

She thought of how many people used their bodies as stepping stones to achieve success. Previously, it seemed incredible to her, but now that this situation occurred to her, she realized that when an offer is too tempting, there’s no courage to refuse.

Moreover, even without money, with his conditions, many women would do anything to be with him.

Joshua Hughes’ lips curled into a nearly imperceptible wicked smile.

Was he laughing at her decision?

His deep and sharp eagle eyes locked onto her small face, slightly tense and uneasy, almost seeing into her mind and noticing the wavering.

Joshua Hughes’ gaze slowly darkened, enjoying the hunting process, wanting to watch her struggle step by step, willingly walking into the trap.

Surrendering a body’s not hard, just like a drink, a pill, a night of indulgence?

However, taming a person’s heart and will is the most challenging and fulfilling, only bringing him utmost satisfaction once he possesses her body.

Joshua Hughes leisurely changed his clothes.

Avery Jane dared not raise her head; she saw in the corner of her eye that he had undone the towel around his waist. The luxurious long-haired carpet absorbed the sound as the towel fell. But the falling towel still made her heart skip, as though a huge stone had dropped to the ground, invoking fear and panic. Neither spoke, the silence in the air felt like death.

The matter was settled. Avery Jane softly said, ”Mr. Hughes, thank you for today, I’ll be leaving now.”

”No need to thank me today, after all, you made me enjoy and relax, you deserve that. But Avery Jane, are you sure you won’t reconsider?” Joshua Hughes’ indifferent voice rose in the lounge as he approached her, dressed.

Avery Jane felt ashamed for her momentary wavering and struggle — how could she go with the flow?

She firmly nodded, yes, she wanted to rely on her own strength to accomplish this.

Avery Jane waited for Joshua Hughes to speak, but the room fell silent again, so quiet that only their heartbeats could be heard.

A terrible storm always brews within great calm.

Avery Jane took a deep breath, looked up, meeting Joshua Hughes’ profound and penetrating gaze. Even without looking up, she could feel those scorching, domineering eyes.

Joshua Hughes’ eyes seemed to flash with mockery, making Avery Jane unconsciously bite her soft cherry lips, feeling uneasy under his gaze. Was he mocking her?

Laughing at her overestimation?

Avery Jane raised her head, summoning courage to meet his gaze: ”Mr. Hughes, I know you’re capable, and many rely on you to live, many fear you. But I believe you’ve already promised, and won’t make my audition difficult.”

Joshua Hughes curled his lips: ”You know I’m capable?”

This little woman, how could she possibly know his capabilities?

All women praised him this way, but uniquely from her small mouth, it was most pleasing.

He seemed to hint at something, Avery Jane’s watery eyes blinked lightly, with clear resistance and unease visible.

Seeing her eyes, his mood turned somewhat irritable: ”What you say sounds like praise, but you really want no entanglement with me, or you wish to remind me to keep my promise, right? Woman, you’re bold, the first to dare talk to me this way.”

Joshua Hughes turned and took a checkbook from the drawer, raised his hand to write, then tore it out to hand to her.

”If you stay tonight, this check will solve all your problems, but after this opportunity, discussing with me next time won’t be simple.” Joshua Hughes lost patience, his gaze disdainful and contemptuous, his words spat out like harsh ice.

The amount on the check was astronomical for her, shocking and mesmerizing.

Avery Jane’s jade-white face showed a trace of self-mockery; she never knew she was so valuable?

”Too little?”

Joshua Hughes watched her slightly dazed expression. Women are like this, not just women, everyone is the same, this is human nature.

Promises mean nothing, numbers matter more.

”No,” Avery Jane placed the check back on the table.

”Mr. Hughes, I’m already grateful for the job opportunity, I can’t take this check, I’m sorry I can’t agree,” Avery Jane responded simply, seeming not to overthink rejecting him.

Joshua Hughes didn’t expect her to reject so directly, this was the third time he coldly spoke: ”Avery Jane, you really won’t get another chance, next time you talk to me, the conditions won’t be the same.”
