Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 897, Absorbing the Darkness

Translator: Silavin

[It couldn’t hold on any longer? Is the Darkness Ancient God so frail that even I don’t need the Devouring Dragon King to intervene? Just a few Pet Dragons and it’s easily handled?]

Lu Fan was somewhat surprised, though he quickly realised that things were not that simple.

Even if it was a Low Tier Ancient God, it was ultimately still an Ancient God. If it could be killed this easily, it would truly be a disgrace to Ancient Gods everywhere.

As the surface of the black heart shattered, countless viscous black water immediately continuously gushed forth.

The black water beneath them was also being constantly filled by this liquid, and the water level rose rapidly, soon threatening to completely fill this entire space.

What exactly this black water was and whether it had any toxic properties remained unknown. Just from the fact that it could condense into Monsters, one could deduce that when confronting the Darkness Ancient God, one absolutely had to guard against this liquid.

Thus, Lu Fan reacted quickly, immediately ordering Xiao Ye to transform into her World Destroyer Form, maximising her Strength Attribute.

Then, she activated Void Break and surged upward.

Before this Black Dragon King’s massive Strength Attribute, the earth naturally posed no obstacle.

Xiao Ye charged upward forcefully, instantly widening this space and carving out an upward escape route for Lu Fan and Jin Zhan.

Although Jin Zhan had not fought alongside Lu Fan that many times, he was very experienced in combat. So, there was a tacit understanding between him and Lu Fan, even if no signals were given.

When Lu Fan surged upward, he simultaneously understood, riding a Golden Crow to follow, lest he be swallowed by the black water.

While Lu Fan used Xiao Ye to excavate the passage, he also summoned Ye Sha.

Ye Sha’s Shadow Advance produces incomparably sharp wind blades. With countless of such wind blades coming out, it was naturally suitable to be used for digging.

With Ye Sha, Xiao Ye, Bao Bao, and Xing Chen: these four Pet Dragons consecutively using their Skills to excavate a passage with Lu Fan and Jin Zhan’s continuously quickly ascending, with no pause whatsoever.

Meanwhile below, the black water continuously surged upward, pursuing them like a bottle of violently shaken cola that had just had its cap removed.

During their escape, Jin Zhan even had his Golden Crows turn back to attack this black water.

The result revealed that this black water was indeed like a black hole. Even when struck by attacks, it would devour those attacks, suffering no obstruction whatsoever and still surging upward at an extreme speed, appearing determined to devour the two of them.

Although they did not know exactly what the Darkness Ancient God had done to cause this change, clearly now was not the time to engage with it.

Lu Fan’s flight speed was very fast. A distance of one hundred thousand metres meant nothing to his Pet Dragons’ speed.

Soon, accompanied by a thunderous *boom*, Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons burst forth from underground, creating a hole thousands of metres in diameter.

Jin Zhan and his Golden Crows followed closely, flying out from underground together and arriving at Lu Fan’s side.

Lu Fan, riding Xiao Ye, stopped in mid-air with the other Pet Dragons and looked back.

He saw the underground black water surge upward due to inertia, forming a massive water column thousands of metres high!

Fortunately, the black water in this column did not pursue them intelligently like some sentient being. It merely shot into the sky, then fell back down, pouring onto the earth like rain.

In an instant, black water scattered everywhere, washing across the vast Dark Land.

What impact this black water would ultimately have on the Dark Land, Lu Fan did not know.

However, he could clearly sense that the Darkness Ancient God’s aura underground had not weakened in the slightest. Rather, it was continuously strengthening.

It seemed like the Darkness Ancient God had released some kind of restraint and was rapidly elevating its strength to deal with him and Jin Zhan.

[As expected, this is the level of strength an Ancient God should possess. How could a few Monsters condensed from some black water possibly demonstrate the terrifying nature of an Ancient God?]

In a moment, this black water column finally showed signs of receding.

However, at this point Lu Fan also discovered that the black water had already flooded the entire Dark Land like a deluge.

As the water column receded, the black water everywhere in the Dark Land also began flowing back underground.

In an instant, the blackness of the entire Dark Land began retreating.

The blackness of the soil disappeared, the black mist vanished, the blackness of the trees was gone.

Those black Monsters also released mournful cries as their bodies continuously shrivelled, turning into white powder and dispersing in the air.

The originally pitch-black Dark Land, all its blackness completely faded away. Whether the ground or the trees, everything turned a vast expanse of white.

It seemed like the darkness itself was a kind of power. Previously, the Darkness Ancient God had bestowed this power upon the Dark Land, allowing it to grow.

And now, the Darkness Ancient God was reclaiming the power that belonged to it, so the Dark Land underwent this transformation.

The Dark Land would soon cease to exist.

Watching this world where everything was black shed its darkness was truly a spectacular sight.

Even Jin Zhan could not help but stare in amazement.

Meanwhile, many Players in Sandy Breeze City also noticed the abnormality in the Dark Land, and everyone erupted into feverish discussions.

No one had imagined that the Dark Land, designated as a Forbidden Area by Feather Country, would undergo such a massive transformation. All the darkness faded away, replaced by a sickly white expanse. Although it was not as eerily terrifying as when it was entirely black, such a bizarre place still deterred anyone from setting foot there.

Everyone speculated about what had happened in the Dark Land to cause such a change.

But no one dared approach. Many Players in Sandy Breeze City were even scrambling towards the Transport Arrays, wanting to take it to leave this place.

As such, the entire Sandy Breeze City had descended into chaos.

Meanwhile, in the Dark Land.

Jin Zhan watched as the darkness, near and far, all flooded into the passage the two had created. He was momentarily shocked beyond measure. However, his strong psychological resilience still made him smile bitterly and joke. “Did we just destroy one of Feather Country’s Forbidden Areas? I hope no one will know this was something you and I did. Otherwise, given our identities, many people will surely come to think that we came here to destroy one of Feather Country’s Levelling areas.”

Lu Fan smiled and said. “Brother Jin, stop with those work-related anxieties of yours. Our identities might be somewhat sensitive, but we came to remove a tumour for Feather Country, not to cause trouble. Aren’t we acting with a clear conscience? When it’s all over, we have let Andrei’s Family explain to Feather Country.”
