Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 895, Ancient Gods Know How to Paint Grand Promises?

“Indeed.” Since Andrei was not here, Lu Fan openly admitted to seizing an Ancient God’s Divine Seat. “I’ve already seized the Abyssal Ancient God’s Divine Seat. Now I can be called the new Abyssal Ancient God. The next Divine Seat that will be seized is from you.”

Hearing these words, the Abyssal Ancient God’s enormous heart suddenly beat several times. “What utter fantasy! You mean today you’ll kill me and grant my Divine Seat to that Human beside you?”

Lu Fan smiled slightly. “Precisely!”

“Hehehehe!” The Abyssal Ancient God sneered repeatedly. “My degree of awakening is indeed not high, but not just anyone can covet my Divine Seat. If I remember correctly, although I’m merely a Low Tier Ancient God, I’ve possessed this Divine Seat for seven eras.”

“In seven eras, countless beings and Ancient Gods have wanted to seize my Divine Seat from me, but no one has ever succeeded! Your ability to seize one Ancient God’s Divine Seat is indeed quite impressive, I won’t deny that. But what makes you think you can seize this Divine Seat from me?”

Lu Fan rubbed his nose, smiling. “Perhaps your thinking isn’t wrong. But, I imagine the original Abyssal Ancient God probably thought the same as you. But in the end, wasn’t he still slaughtered by me, completely disappearing from this era?”

“You…” The Darkness Ancient God was momentarily speechless.

No matter what, Lu Fan’s ability to seize the Abyssal Ancient God’s Divine Seat already proved he possessed the capability to kill an Ancient God and seize their Divine Seat. Even if the Darkness Ancient God had once enjoyed unlimited glory, so what?

Right now, whether it could escape alive from the new Abyssal Ancient God’s hands was itself a question.

The Darkness Ancient God was reluctant to abandon the Dark Land it had spent thousands of years constructing. He also knew that being targeted by the opponent made escape extremely difficult.

Thinking of this, its tone finally softened somewhat as it addressed Lu Fan. “Young man, your ability to become a new Ancient God suggests you should possess some exceptional skills. But I’m still an Ancient God. Don’t underestimate me. If we fought, at most it’ll be mutual destruction. Needing to spend a massive amount of time healing is a minor matter. If the other Ancient Gods get wind of this and come to reap the benefits, both of us might have our Divine Seats seized and completely cease existing.”

“Rather than ending up like that, why don’t we have a proper discussion? How about it? I’ve heard that the previous God King, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, has already awakened to an extremely high degree. If other Ancient Gods continue fighting individually, they’ll very likely still be swept away by the Fallen Corpse Ancient God in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy, with him continuing as the God King, controlling the world’s Principles.”

“Now that you and I have encountered each other here, why not turn hostility into friendship and discuss cooperation? I think if you and I cooperate, then we work with some other Ancient Gods, we might have a chance to overthrow the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, allowing a new God King to emerge from among our people.”

Hearing this, Lu Fan smiled again.

[These Ancient Gods’ were all truly consistent with their methods. Is it inherited? They always try to trick powerful beings into becoming their Ancient God Slaves when encountering them. If they feel they can’t win against the opponent, they would start discussing cooperation.]

Lu Fan had witnessed these tactics more than once.

He really wanted to ask the Darkness Ancient God: ‘Do you Ancient Gods only have this one delaying tactic?’

Once or twice was fine, but hearing the same spiel every time, Lu Fan was thoroughly bored.

Comparatively, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God was more straightforward.

At the slightest disagreement, a palm strike directly flew at him. The Fallen Corpse Ancient God was far more decisive than other Ancient Gods.

Although he thought this internally, Lu Fan did not voice it out.

On the contrary, he wanted to extract some information from the opponent, just as he had with the Abyssal Ancient God.

Lu Fan smiled. “So you’re saying you have other allies? Which Ancient God do you have a confirmed alliance with? And where is that Ancient God? If you want me to cooperate with you, you need to show some sincerity, right? An alliance is fine, but I need to know who my allies are. Otherwise, as a mere Low Tier Ancient God, you’d hardly have the qualifications to be my ally, do you?”

Hearing these words, the Darkness Ancient God fell silent for a moment.

Shortly after, Lu Fan realised the reason for its silence.

[Good grief, this thing talks a good game about alliances, about overthrowing the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, about seizing the God King position. But in reality, it was a lone commander with no allies whatsoever!]

It had a low degree of awakening, no allies, and it had even tried to trick the Devouring Dragon King into becoming its Mount.

[How absolutely ridiculous!]

Its strength back then was probably inferior to even the Devouring Dragon King.

Fortunately, it was clever enough to converse with the Devouring Dragon King in a projected form. Otherwise, if the Devouring Dragon King got angry and actually killed it, it would not need to participate in this era’s Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy. It would probably be the first Ancient God in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy to be killed by a being of the current era before the battle even began. This would be enough for the other Ancient Gods to mock it for several eras.

[You shouldn’t be called the Darkness Ancient God. You should be called the Hot Air Ancient God instead!]

Seemingly detecting Lu Fan’s mocking intent, the Darkness Ancient God felt somewhat embarrassed and immediately said, “I was too severely injured in the previous era. In terms of my degree of awakening, I don’t have an advantage from the start, and I’m currently being rated as a Low Tier Ancient God. Simultaneously, with the new era beginning, the Map I’m located in lacks abundant resources. It’s quite normal that my strength can’t keep up with those High Tier Ancient Gods. I’ve been too busy constantly thinking of ways to increase my degree of awakening. Where would I have time to find other Ancient Gods to discuss about alliance matters?”

Lu Fan thought, [So you have no time to search? More likely that you are too afraid that after searching, instead of forming an alliance, the other party would want to devour you.]

This Ancient God painted grand promises but was quite skilled at embellishment.

Lu Fan did not interrupt the Darkness Ancient God’s words. The latter continued. “Now that you’ve found me, this happens to give me a chance to ally with other Ancient Gods. Looking at your Level, it’s not high either. When the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy comes, you’ll definitely be on the weaker side too. It’s fortunate you found me today. If it were other Ancient Gods, they’d have devoured you long ago. How could they waste so many words with you?”

“That’s right, I admit my strength and resources in the current era’s Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy don’t give me any advantage. But as a new Ancient God, you’re not necessarily much better off than me, are you? I advise you not to be too arrogant. Fully awakened Ancient Gods are far more terrifying than you imagine. If you want to protect yourself, cooperating with me isn’t a bad choice.”
