Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 879, An Un-Awakened Ancient God Is Actually This Powerful

That was right, the alliance conditions proposed by the Fallen Corpse Ancient God were indeed extremely tempting. However, there was one crucial problem. Who could guarantee that the Fallen Corpse Ancient God would honour its promise?

In its eyes, even its own Family and friends were nothing more than ants, completely illusory and insignificant things that it could no longer be bothered to care about.

So how could Lu Fan’s Family and friends be any different?

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God was a High Tier Ancient God, and moreover, it was the God King of the previous era. If all the other Ancient Gods were destroyed by it and Lu Fan, and only Lu Fan and it remained, why would it need to agree to all of Lu Fan’s demands?

Wouldn’t it be better to simply put Lu Fan into slumber as well and become the next God King again?

As for the so-called eternal alliance, with each taking turns as God King, that was even more far-fetched.

An era could last anywhere from several million years at minimum to tens of millions of years at maximum. Far too many things could happen during that time. An alliance relationship was simply unreliable.

Choosing to trust the Fallen Corpse Ancient God would be tantamount to seeking one’s own destruction. Moreover, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God was different from the Void Ancient God.

The reason Lu Fan chose the Void Ancient God was because the Void Ancient God had shown true sincerity during negotiations. She had spent years in Dragon Capital with countless opportunities to destroy the city and devour its million-plus inhabitants to achieve a deeper awakening.

Yet, the Void Ancient God had never done so.

Her sincerity had led Lu Fan to choose to trust and cooperate with her.

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God, however, had been lurking in the Far North all along, and now was even sending countless Fallen Corpse Puppets to attack Dragon Country.

This kind of Ancient God was clearly not trustworthy. Therefore, even if going to war with an Ancient God meant less than a ten percent chance of victory, Lu Fan could not stake everything on the Fallen Corpse Ancient God.

After Lu Fan finished speaking, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God fell silent for a long while. Its tone remained flat as it continued to ask. “So you won’t even consider my alliance proposal at all? You still intend to be my enemy? You killed my Mount. If you continue to oppose me, I can guarantee that once I fully awaken, the first to die will be you!”

Lu Fan smiled and said. “Once you truly awaken, whether we ally with you or not, we’ll be the ones to die anyway, won’t we? There’s nothing worth discussing with someone like you.”

“Fine. In that case, I hope you won’t regret this.” As the Fallen Corpse Ancient God spoke its final words, its projection suddenly disintegrated, transforming into darkness that filled the sky before exploding.

Simultaneously, sharp screaming sounds accompanied it. Screams like tens of thousands of people suffering cruel torture, their heart-wrenching howls causing both Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King’s expressions to change as they instinctively covered their ears.

The next second, Lu Fan felt his consciousness return to his own body, like suddenly being awakened from a dream by noise.

Lu Fan was still riding the Devouring Dragon King at this moment, confronting that bronze coffin.

Both Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King had now recovered their senses, and their spiritual connection instantly re-established between them.

“What killing intent!” The Devouring Dragon King warned Lu Fan.

Lu Fan replied. “You don’t need to tell me, I sensed it too.”

“Let’s leave this place. Although the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s words seem to be full of lies, one statement should be true. That is, if we get within a hundred metres of its bronze coffin, we really might die!”

The Devouring Dragon King did not doubt the truth of this statement too. Therefore, she immediately severed the chains that had been devoured into her body. Now, she no longer greedily continues to devour, instead planning to immediately leave.

However, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God apparently did not intend to let them leave so easily.

Those iron chains instantly came to life, writhing in mid-air like massive serpents capable of swallowing Heaven.

These chains were used to bind the Blood Moon’s Owner, so their size went without saying.

The diameter of the chains was almost equivalent to the Devouring Dragon King’s body.

Faced with such thick chains blocking their path, it was already extremely difficult for the Devouring Dragon King to dodge and weave through the air, attempting to avoid their attacks.

Even more frightening was that as the chains swung about, the bronze coffin actually came charging towards Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King!

Not only that, countless Ancient God Shadow Guards rushed out from the bronze coffin, using the chains as springboards, swarming like locusts with their target directly aimed at Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King!

One Ancient God Shadow Guard was nothing.

With the Devouring Dragon King’s strength, she could annihilate one with a snap of her fingers.

However, so many Ancient God Shadow Guards still posed quite a troublesome problem.

These Ancient God Shadow Guards were, at the very least, Level 120 Legendary Grade Bosses, each equivalent to a half-grown Giant Dragon.

For the Devouring Dragon King to kill them would still require time.

But with chains constantly attacking from all around, once entangled by the Ancient God Shadow Guards, she would inevitably fall into even greater danger.

And most terrifying of all was that the bronze coffin was approaching Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King at incredible speed. Heaven knew what the Fallen Corpse Ancient God would do once the bronze coffin got close!

[We need to escape!] This was the only thought remaining for Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King.

Now was not the time to go to war with the Fallen Corpse Ancient God!

Shadows enveloped the Devouring Dragon King’s entire body, and her speed immediately surged dramatically!

Those swinging chains inevitably had gaps that could be exploited.

After activating her Shadow Dragon Bloodline, the Devouring Dragon King’s speed had become ridiculously fast, and these chains simply could not stop her.

As for those Ancient God Shadow Guards charging forward, she turned around and used one Shadow Advance to instantly kill them all without suspense.

Just as the Devouring Dragon King was about to break through the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s encirclement with Lu Fan, suddenly an immensely powerful force appeared out of nowhere.

The Devouring Dragon King and Lu Fan felt gravity tens of thousands of times stronger descend, pressing down upon them.

Subsequently, both lost control of their bodies and plummeted downward, crashing into the ground.

The ground continuously cracked and sank under the tremendous gravity, as if some enormously massive existence had stepped down upon this place.

Even with the Devouring Dragon King’s terrifying Strength Attribute, she momentarily could not escape. The sound of bones being compressed came from all over her body.

“What kind of Skill is this!? Could this be an Ancient God Power!?” The Devouring Dragon King nearly cursed aloud.

Lu Fan endured the gravity while saying. “Probably. I feel that my Ancient God Power has also been suppressed. What it is using doesn’t belong to this era’s Skill Mechanics. It’s definitely some kind of Ancient God Power.”

“This is really troublesome.” The Devouring Dragon King was both anxious and enraged. “I didn’t expect that an un-awakened Ancient God would be this powerful.”
