Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 869, Breaking the Deadlock Through Devouring

Translator: Silavin

“To become the Mount of an Ancient God, it must have some real skills!” the Devouring Dragon King said.

Lu Fan also ceased his attacks, because now that he knew no matter how much he attacked, the Blood Moon’s Owner could quickly recover both its Health Pool and Mana Pool, why waste his own Stamina trying to do something negligible?

If he could not find a method to kill the Blood Moon’s Owner, further attacks would be utterly useless.

The Devouring Dragon King also recognised this point and stopped using her Skills, refusing to needlessly waste her Stamina.

She continuously weaved through the air, evading the Blood Moon’s Owner’s attacks while simultaneously searching for a way to defeat the Blood Moon’s Owner.

After a considerable amount of time, the Devouring Dragon King said. “Actually, if we want to kill it, it’s not like we don’t have a method.”

“Oh? How do we kill it?” In his excitement, Lu Fan hastily asked.

The Devouring Dragon King said. “When you activate Bloodline Sharing Awakening, I receive some kind of Buff. Do you know what this Buff is?”

Lu Fan was momentarily stunned. After thinking for a moment, he said. “Isn’t it about pulling everything in the surroundings over, then turning it all to nothing?”

At least, from what he had currently observed, this indeed seemed to be the case.

Because of the Devouring Dragon King’s unique nature, Lu Fan didn’t know the specific Effects of Bloodline Sharing Awakening. He could only analyse through surface appearances that after activating the Devouring Dragon Bloodline, they would become the centre, devouring everything in their surroundings.

Its Effect should be similar to Bao Bao’s and Xing Chen’s unlimited Passive Attack Skill that cleared surrounding Mobs.

However, this Buff or Skill could also clear the environment. For instance, the surrounding snow and soil would also be absorbed by the force field.

That was all.

What the Devouring Dragon King said next somewhat surprised Lu Fan. “My Devouring Dragon Bloodline Power is naturally not as simple as forming a field that devours its surroundings. Whatever I devour will be converted into my Attributes, making me stronger! It’s just that there aren’t many Monsters here. If the Monsters here were as numerous as those on the way here, absorbing them all would significantly enhance my own strength.”

“It is that powerful?” Lu Fan was astonished. “Absorbing other Monsters to enhance your own strength? If it’s truly like this, why didn’t you suggest I directly activate Bloodline Sharing Awakening while we were on our way here. That would have allowed you to properly enhance your Attributes before this battle?”

The Devouring Dragon King lightly coughed, saying in a somewhat displeased tone, “Those things are all Ancient God Puppets. They are filthy objects. Although they can be absorbed, to me, they’re far like pollutants. Absorbing them would be an insult to me, wouldn’t it?”

Lu Fan was immediately speechless.

Having known the Devouring Dragon King for so long, he understood she had some serious psychological obsession with cleanliness.

Let her eat Giant Dragons? No problem. But eating other things? She would feel like she was consuming something dirty. She held absolutely no interest despite being able to get stronger.

Right now, they were about to confront the Blood Moon’s Owner. They had just passed by such an excellent ‘supply station’, yet the Devouring Dragon King had missed it, saying nothing.

Now facing the Blood Moon’s Owner’s High Health Pool and High Defence, this one man and one Dragon clearly had no particularly good method to deal with it. This left Lu Fan somewhat resentful towards the Devouring Dragon King.

Through spiritual connection, the Devouring Dragon King naturally knew what Lu Fan was thinking.

She became even more unhappy, coldly saying. “Those Fallen Corpse Puppets are just garbage products the Ancient God casually created using its filthy Skill. The Ancient God finds them extremely disgusting too. To them, they are no different from excrement! Would you eat someone else’s—”

“Enough, enough! Don’t say anymore!” Lu Fan felt nauseated, stopping the Devouring Dragon King from continuing.

He said. “So what do we do now? Should we return and absorb some Fallen Corpse Puppets to enhance our strength? Although according to what you’re saying, absorbing them is indeed a repulsive matter, we’ve already started our fight with the Blood Moon’s Owner. We can’t flee so easily or allow ourselves to get killed by it, right?”

The Devouring Dragon King, while evading the Blood Moon’s Owner’s attacks, said. “Actually, you’ve misunderstood what I’m saying. When I said I could enhance my strength through devouring, I didn’t mean going to devour those Fallen Corpse Puppets.”

“Those Fallen Corpse Puppets are too weak. Even if I devoured them all, I wouldn’t enhance my strength by much. According to my calculations, to continuously absorb Fallen Corpse Puppets to enhance my strength and reach the objective of defeating the Blood Moon’s Owner would require non-stop absorption for fifty years. Can you wait that long? If you can, then forget I said anything. I’ll set off immediately.”

“Fifty years!?” Lu Fan’s eyes widened, immediately shaking his head. “That’s far too long.”

Two years ago, the Blood Moon’s Owner had only just opened one eye.

Two years later, it had already become such a troublesome existence.

Although he did not know exactly when the Fallen Corpse Ancient God could awaken, within fifty years, the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy would probably already have begun!

At this point, if the Devouring Dragon King only achieved the strength to defeat the Blood Moon’s Owner by absorbing Fallen Corpse Puppets, wouldn’t that be far too late?

Moreover, whether there were even that many Fallen Corpse Puppets remained unknown.

The Devouring Dragon King sneered. “This is the result of trying to obtain the strength to defeat that giant lizard by absorbing Fallen Corpse Puppets. That is also why I’m unwilling to devour Fallen Corpse Puppets. But the main reason is that this path simply doesn’t work!”

Lu Fan grew somewhat anxious. “Then what good method do you have? At this point, stop beating around the bush.”

“Fine, I’ll be straightforward!” The Devouring Dragon King said. “I want to devour the Blood Moon’s Owner!”

Lu Fan. “Huh???”

Seeing Lu Fan’s silence, the Devouring Dragon King laughed. “You think it’s impossible don’t you? Let me tell you, this is the only method I can think of to rapidly defeat it. Even one hundred million Fallen Corpse Puppets wouldn’t be as effective as letting me devour a piece of the Blood Moon’s Owner’s flesh. As long as we can injure the Blood Moon’s Owner and allow me to devour part of its flesh and blood, my strength can rapidly increase. If my Attack exceeds its Recovery Speed, then defeating it is merely a matter of time.”

“To break this deadlock, we need to injure the Blood Moon’s Owner. Then, I’ll devour the flesh and blood from its body. Under this mutual consumption and growth, victory will slowly tilt towards us!”

This idea was indeed bold.

However, it did have some logic to it.

Lu Fan had originally thought the Devouring Dragon King wanted to directly devour the Blood Moon’s Owner.

Just looking at the Blood Moon’s Owner’s enormous size made it clear this was absolutely impossible.

But if it was only devouring part of the Blood Moon’s Owner’s flesh and blood, there was indeed some hope to it.
