Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 851, No Longer Wanting to Be a Parasite

Jian Ying said, “Our Level has risen far too quickly. Although we’ve been working hard ourselves, constantly finding ways to improve our actual strength and skills, and trying to catch up with experts at our Level, it is still not enough. Those experts have all raised their Level bit by bit through their own efforts. They’ve experienced countless battles to reach the same Level as us.”

“Meanwhile, we’ve just been Power Levelled by Lu Fan. If we relied on our own strength, we’d probably only be around Level 40-something now, wouldn’t we?”

“No matter how hard we work, the mismatch between our Level and our actual strength is difficult to avoid. To truly become stronger, we need to properly temper ourselves. Lu Fan’s proposal to walk from here to the Western Border is feasible. After completing this journey, our Level might not increase much, but our strength will definitely see a tremendous improvement. Maybe right now, we’re still no match for Third Profession Players at the same Level. But after completing this training journey, we’ll definitely be able to bring up our actual strength!”

Qin Qiu deeply agreed, nodding, “That’s right, I think so too. Sometimes I can see that though our Level isn’t much lower than Vice Principal Zhao’s, the gap in strength between us is obvious. Ultimately, it’s because we lacked experience.”

“I’ve always looked down on those people who rely on their Family’s power to raise their Level while making little effort in improving themselves. On Shadow Isle, I’ve been sparring with you all, going out to hunt Monsters, precisely to train myself. So, I think this training is necessary. I’ll definitely go.”

“Huh?” Tao Xiaoman was instantly ‘isolated’, looking at Qin Qiu with disbelief, “Xiao Qiu, you… you’ve betrayed me too?”

Qin Qiu smiled, “This isn’t betrayal. We are just doing what we should do, making ourselves stronger rather than wasting our talents. Tao Zi, you shouldn’t be timid either. Are you satisfied with just being Power Levelled by Lu Fan to Level 90 and then having your Fourth Profession Change? You’ve always told me before that you wanted to become one of the world’s top experts. Now that Lu Fan has already helped us so much, are we just going to keep lying flat? Are you really going to stop progressing here?”

These words made Tao Xiaoman’s expression become much more solemn. Indeed, when she did not know Lu Fan yet, Tao Xiaoman was a famous genius in Jianghai City.

Although she was unlike Qin Qiu, who had a Hidden Profession, she was not weak. Plus, with her wealthy Family background, her strength was definitely among the top in Jianghai City.

Back then, Tao Xiaoman was full of vigour, believing she could definitely rely on her own power to stand at the peak of this world.

Later, after meeting Lu Fan, her mindset changed.

Firstly, Lu Fan had shocked her too much. He made her feel that no matter what she did, she could never compare to Lu Fan.

If one’s efforts were going to be useless no matter what, most people would choose to accept it and stop trying.

At the same time, Lu Fan Power Levelling, provision of good equipment, as well as the top quality Pet like the Ice Crystal Beast, all these allowed her to fully enjoy the days of having things come to hand without needing to work hard for it. She hardly did anything yet she still experienced an explosive growth in strength.

Under these pressures, Tao Xiaoman had long lost her initial drive, instead becoming like a parasite.

Thinking now about her original thoughts compared to her current ones, Tao Xiaoman suddenly awakened, realising how utterly unambitious she had become.

Would the Tao Xiaoman of the past be satisfied with merely becoming a Fourth Profession Player?

Admittedly, with Lu Fan’s help, her current strength was already among the best in Dragon Country. In all of Jianghai City, even Qin Qiu’s Father, Qin Shanhai, was no match for her.

But all of this was given to her by Lu Fan.

Moreover, she herself was talented in her own right. If she worked a bit harder, combined with the resources Lu Fan gave her, she could be even stronger!

With Lu Fan’s help, even if an opponent was 10 Levels higher than her, she should be able to defeat them easily.

Not like now, where she was only stronger than others by virtue of having a higher Level and better equipment.

Tao Xiaoman suddenly awakened, realising she couldn’t continue being this useless. She nodded, her tone firm, “You’re right. I should also go. Fine then, after we all have our Fourth Profession Change, shall we walk together from here all the way to the Western Border?”

After thinking for a moment, Jian Ying asked, “Should we go together or separately? If we go together, will it affect the training’s effectiveness?”

Lu Fan smiled, “It won’t. What you lack is practical combat experience. The battles you need don’t necessarily require you to fight solo.”

“In this world, every Profession has its strengths and weaknesses. Some Professions are destined to be unable to fight alone. You and Tao Zi are fine; your Professions are relatively balanced. Qin Qiu is a bit lacking in that regard. So, you should go together. You can look after each other on the road.”

Hearing Lu Fan say this, Tao Xiaoman breathed a sigh of relief, “That’s good. I thought we’d definitely have to walk to the Western Border alone.”

“Yeah. This is better. Having companions on the road means firstly, it’s safer, and secondly, we won’t be lonely.”

Qin Qiu and Jian Ying had no objections either.

Thus, the training trip was tentatively decided.

As for when, that would be decided after everyone reached Level 90 and completed their Fourth Profession Change.

Of course, Han Ke naturally didn’t need to participate in this training. She did not have a Combat Specialised Profession either; there was no need for her to endure such hardship.

After settling this, everyone didn’t plan to waste time.

After all, walking from the Extremely Far North Ice Plains all the way to the Western Border would take eight or nine months at the shortest, or two to three years at the longest. When exactly the Ancient God trouble would erupt was still unknown, so naturally it was best to increase their Level as quickly as possible.

Thus, Lu Fan led everyone deeper into the Extremely Far North Ice Plains, searching for more Monsters to help everyone raise their Levels.

The place Lu Fan chose was naturally the caverns.

After all, the number of Monsters emerging from the caverns, the source of the Monsters on the surface, was enough to leave one stunned on the spot.

At the same time, the cavern was perfect for Xiao Ye to farm Experience Points.

A single Heavenfall Meteor smashing down directly was like an ocean of Experience Points tossed into her Experience Bar. What could be more satisfying than this?
