Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 863, Spiritual Contact

Lu Fan laughed heartily and said, “Alright then, it’s settled. Once we’ve dealt with this trouble before us, we’ll go and kill the Darkness Ancient God! Also, if you’re interested, I’ll help you seize a Divine Seat when the time comes. How about that?”

The Devouring Dragon King’s eyes brightened upon hearing this, and it said, “Aren’t you afraid that once I become an Ancient God, I’ll be like all the other Ancient Gods, taking pleasure in destroying others’ opportunities? At my Level, if I truly became an Ancient God, the gap between your strength and mine would become even more exaggerated. At that point, you wouldn’t possibly be my match. If I wanted to devour your Pet Dragons, it would be just a thought. No one could stop me.”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “Hmm, well, I trust you won’t do that. We’ve been working together for so long now, I trust you. For instance, right now, you could easily choose not to risk coming with me to find the Blood Moon’s Owner, couldn’t you?”

“We’ve talked about this before. Maintaining a sense of wariness toward everyone is a good thing but living like that all the time would be exhausting. In this world, there must be a few people to whom we can entrust our back to. I think you should be one of them, shouldn’t you?”

Lu Fan had said similar things before.

The Devouring Dragon King was not surprised by Lu Fan’s attitude toward her. After all, for her sake, Lu Fan had even obtained a Life Fruit Seed from the Life Dragon King.

The Devouring Dragon King’s lips curved into a smile, and for once, she did not retort. Instead, she said, “I’m honoured that you would view me this way and you are willing to entrust your back to me. I can see that you don’t possess the hostility common to ordinary Players. If it were other Players, they’d probably guard against even their closest people. But you? Not only do you keep so many burdens around you, you treat each of them well.”

“I originally thought you were just lustful, having schemed your way into those girls’ hearts. But now, one can declare you are too soft on them. With that kind of mentality, you can’t accomplish great things.”

Lu Fan burst out laughing. “I’m not someone who wants to accomplish great things to begin with. If Ancient Gods didn’t exist, I’d already be back on Shadow Isle enjoying my retirement.”

After a pause, Lu Fan smiled again and said, “Besides, I really am lustful. Truth is, I quite like all those girls…”

Upon hearing this, the Devouring Dragon King raised an eyebrow, looking at Lu Fan with seductive charm. “What about me? Do you have any thoughts about me?”

“Uh…” Lu Fan was immediately at a loss for words. He had only been joking just now, but who knew the Devouring Dragon King would take it seriously?

Now that the Devouring Dragon King had suddenly asked, he didn’t know how to respond.

[Should I say I liked how she looked? Or should I say I don’t?]

The Devouring Dragon King’s thoughts were difficult to read. Lu Fan was terrified of answering wrongly and having this Young Mistress throw down her tools and abandon him here. What would he do then?

Seeing Lu Fan unable to produce an answer, the seductive expression vanished from the Devouring Dragon King’s face. After rolling her eyes at Lu Fan, she questioned, “Is this question really that difficult to answer? After I transformed into my Human Form, I’m not inferior to those girls around you, am I? In fact, I surpass them.”

“Forget it, forget it. I can’t be bothered to discuss this with you. Let’s focus on business first. Quickly sense where the target is.”

“Right, right, right…” Lu Fan breathed a sigh of relief and began using his Ancient God Power to sense the opponent’s location.

He closed his eyes and concentrated. His senses extended outward like countless fine tendrils.

The entire world, within Lu Fan’s consciousness, became like game data, continuously virtualised and decomposed into the most primitive Principles.

Lu Fan could even comprehend parts of it, learning how the previous God King had constructed this world.

But none of this was important. What he needed to do now was find the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, who like him was an Ancient God, as well as the Blood Moon’s Owner stained with its aura.

Lu Fan could clearly sense the heavy presence of Ancient God aura here.

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God should be not far from here.

As this perception web continued to extend outward, finally, two hundred kilometres underground from his location, he sensed an extremely powerful force of the same origin!

[Found it!] Lu Fan didn’t retract his senses. Instead, he probed toward this powerful source of energy.

Immediately, he made contact with a colossal entity. Undoubtedly, it was the Blood Moon’s Owner!

The Blood Moon’s Owner had fully awakened by now, lurking underground. Its pair of enormous eyes resembled Moons, while from its nostrils, blood-red gales continuously rushed out.

These gales could pulverise Fourth Profession Players, and were completely impossible to resist.

The sheer size of the Blood Moon’s Owner’s body remained breathtaking.

As Lu Fan discovered it using his own powers, the Blood Moon’s Owner clearly became aware as well. It raised its head and let out an irritated, low roar.

Immediately, the entire Far North trembled slightly. Even Lu Fan, who was two hundred kilometres away, could sense it.

The Blood Moon’s Owner knew another Ancient God was searching for its location. It continuously roared, issuing threatening warnings, signalling the other party not to act rashly, that its Master was about to awaken.

Lu Fan paid no heed to the opponent’s warning. Instead, he continued spreading his perception, bypassing the Blood Moon’s Owner, wanting to follow the chains on its body to see what condition the Fallen Corpse Ancient God in that bronze coffin was in.

However, the moment Lu Fan’s perception extended over, black flames condensed from freezing cold energy immediately appeared on the chains, burning the power he used to sense it.

Lu Fan was startled and immediately severed the connection, preventing the opponent’s flames from following the ‘web’ back to him.

If those flames really burned their way back, he might suffer damage to the Soul. His Divine Seat might also be injured, and he might be temporarily unable to use his Ancient God Power.

Now that Lu Fan thought about it, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God hadn’t fully awakened yet. So, it probably did not have the ability to move freely.

However, it was highly likely that it had already fully awakened its consciousness. Otherwise, how could it control the Blood Moon’s Owner?

Making contact with it like this would definitely put him at a disadvantage.

Fortunately, his reaction was quick, and he did not get caught and experienced a backlash. Otherwise, before the two sides even engaged in battle, he would have already been injured.

Seeing Lu Fan with an expression of having narrowly escaped disaster, the Devouring Dragon King asked, “What happened? Did they discover you?”

Lu Fan smiled bitterly and nodded. “Not just that. I nearly had it trace back to me and give me a blow. The Fallen Corpse Ancient God may not have fully awakened, but it’s already so terrifying. I really can’t imagine how to deal with it once it truly awakens in the future.”
