Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 875, The Fallen Corpse Ancient God Arrives

Translator: Silavin

In the blink of an eye, another fortnight had passed.

The Blood Moon’s Owner’s carcass was gradually being devoured by the Devouring Dragon King.

It was hard to imagine that the Blood Moon’s Owner’s body, originally several hundred kilometres in length, lay horizontally sprawled across the landscape, stretching almost endlessly beyond sight. Yet the Devouring Dragon King consumed it ceaselessly, every moment absorbing it bit by bit into her body.

Of course, while the Devouring Dragon King swallowed the Blood Moon’s Owner’s carcass, her refinement speed still could not match her rate of consumption. Even if she completely devoured the Blood Moon’s Owner, the Devouring Dragon King would still require a considerable amount of time to refine it.

Just as she had said, during this period, her Combat Power would definitely be affected.

However, the Combat Power she could exhibit would still match the strength she possessed when she first awakened. That was enough to handle most battles.

As the Blood Moon’s Owner’s body was continuously being devoured, Lu Fan gradually noticed that enormous chains still bound the Blood Moon’s Owner’s carcass.

Originally, Lu Fan had hesitated about what to do with these chains.

But the Devouring Dragon King was straightforward. She directly pulled the chains along with the Blood Moon’s Owner into her body, refining them together.

After all, for the Devouring Dragon King, all things could be consumed and transformed into her own Attributes. Moreover, the materials used to forge these chains were special. For the Devouring Dragon King, they made for excellent sustenance.

Refining them together would grant her considerable Attributes. Since this was the case, why not refine them as well?

Thus, with her body as the centre, she continuously dragged and absorbed the Blood Moon’s Owner’s carcass into herself, along with the massive chains.

Lu Fan noticed the chains extended deep into the Far North.

If his assumptions were correct, the other end of these chains should be binding that bronze coffin.

Outside the bronze coffin, there were certainly Ancient God Shadow Guards standing watch.

Lu Fan had already engaged with the Ancient God Shadow Guards before. They were indeed formidable, but for Lu Fan, they were no longer undefeatable. Especially now with the Devouring Dragon King present. Eliminating the Ancient God Shadow Guards would be even simpler for Lu Fan.

But the real trouble was that inside the bronze coffin resided the Fallen Corpse Ancient God.

Although the Fallen Corpse Ancient God had not fully awakened, the incident where Lu Fan spread out his senses and was almost caught, resulting in a backlash by the opponent, still made him wary.

One was certain, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God had definitely partially awakened. Even if it temporarily could not move freely, that didn’t mean it possessed no combat capability whatsoever.

Therefore, Lu Fan had originally intended to sever the chains and leave immediately after absorbing the Blood Moon’s Owner’s body.

However, the Devouring Dragon King had become addicted to absorbing the Blood Moon’s Owner’s body. She truly relished the sensation of growing stronger.

According to her, the enhancement in strength from a single Blood Moon’s Owner brought her was comparable to absorbing a Dragon King. If possible, she rather fancied trying to see whether she could pull along the chains and absorb the bronze coffin containing the Fallen Corpse Ancient God as well.

Perhaps this way, she could seize the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s Divine Seat through an unconventional method, without needing Lu Fan’s assistance at all?

So, for Lu Fan’s concerns, the Devouring Dragon King offered reassurance. She said that if the Fallen Corpse Ancient God had the capability to emerge, it would have done so long ago.

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God had simply watched as their battle with the Blood Moon’s Owner lasted a fortnight, without any reaction whatsoever. So, the current Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s capabilities were limited.

So, perhaps this time, they could thoroughly resolve this troublesome existence through devouring.

Even if they could not resolve it, they could at worst simply flee.

Lu Fan found these words rather sound. After pondering, he simply let the Devouring Dragon King proceed.

He had already left behind an Abyssal Node early on. Combined with his Starry Space Passage and Dragon Domain Skills, Lu Fan was confident that even if the Fallen Corpse Ancient God awakened, he could immediately flee upon sensing danger.

Thus, Lu Fan allowed the Devouring Dragon King to devour freely.

Eventually, the Blood Moon’s Owner’s carcass was completely consumed.

However, the chains still remained, extending to the horizon’s edge.

The Devouring Dragon King continued devouring the chains, dragging whatever lay at the other end towards herself.

Another day passed.

Lu Fan finally witnessed a bronze coffin being dragged from the horizon’s edge.

Simultaneously, surrounding the bronze coffin, dark shadows indistinctly flickered. Clearly, they were a horde of Shadow Guards clinging to the bronze coffin, resembling a piece of candy dropped on the ground, covered in countless ants.

Previously, such a multitude of Shadow Guards would have given Lu Fan a headache. But now, Lu Fan was confident he could, together with the Devouring Dragon King, eliminate or even devour all these Shadow Guards.

After all, compared to before, Lu Fan’s strength had improved by several tiers. Setting aside everything else, in terms of Attributes alone, Lu Fan had improved several-fold from before.

Nevertheless, seeing the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s bronze coffin truly being pulled over, Lu Fan remained fully vigilant, as though facing a formidable enemy.

The Devouring Dragon King also lost her previous nonchalance. While absorbing the chains, she kept her eyes fixed on the bronze coffin, guarding against any sudden attack.

*Creak… creak…*

Suddenly, the chains snapped taut, advancing no further.

The Devouring Dragon King uttered a surprised “Eh?” then warned aloud. “Careful. The bronze coffin is stirring. It’s resisting my devouring, preventing me from continuing to devour. The Fallen Corpse Ancient God must have taken action.”

“Understood.” Lu Fan gulped.

Although this wasn’t his first time facing an Ancient God, it was his first time confronting a High Tier Ancient God like the Fallen Corpse Ancient God.

Moreover, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s danger level absolutely surpassed any other Ancient God. Lu Fan had to treat it with utmost caution.

The chains continuously transmitted teeth-aching *creak… creak…* sounds. The bronze coffin thus remained approximately ten kilometres distant from Lu Fan and the Devouring Dragon King, no longer being dragged.

The chains’ material proved exceptionally resilient. Even the Devouring Dragon King’s devouring could not snap them.

Consequently, both sides reached an impasse.

Lu Fan could even observe the bronze coffin crawling densely with the Ancient God Shadow Guards. Simultaneously, he could see the bronze coffin was not completely sealed. Rather, a small gap remained at its tail end.

Through that crevice, Ancient God Shadow Guards occasionally emerged.

It seemed the Fallen Corpse Ancient God was continuously moulting. With each moulting, it created an Ancient God Shadow Guard, while simultaneously advancing its awakening state ever so slightly.

Ancient God Shadow Guards, they were each a Level 120 Legendary Grade Boss.

For the Fallen Corpse Ancient God to periodically create such terrifying Monsters spoke volumes about how horrifying it must be.
