Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 1083: Chapter 14 I’m the Protagonist! [Second Update]

Drip, drip, drip, drip!!

Listening to the highest-level wartime alarm sound in the camp-level spaceship, Jia Yan looked indifferently at the scene before him.

Although it was also his first time witnessing such a great battle, as the commanding officer, he had to maintain the demeanor of a leader of an army. Otherwise, how could he reassure his subordinates?

However, at the bottom of his heart, he was shocked by the firepower unleashed as the two fleets bombarded each other.

The attacking firepower of the two fleets was incredibly startling, and what surprised Jia Yan the most was that the battleships of both sides had actually plunged into each other’s firing range as if in interstellar group combat, relying on momentum just the same.

The Giant Mosquito Fleet charged forward and quickly collided with the first wave of the enemy’s light beam attacks.

At this moment, Kama shouted out a few terms loudly on the Angli Bai vessel.

Then the entire army seemed to flicker as a whole, and a scene of indescribable horror appeared on the Giant Mosquito Fleet’s side—all before them entered into a twisted vista, and the bodies of everyone in the fleet also seemed to become blurry.

Those incoming attacks, one after another, all missed their mark.

”This is the power of the Matea Tactic! The entire fleet has entered subspace!” Jia Yan looked at his somewhat twisted body and, although he felt no pain, was still quite startled.

The so-called subspace was essentially a distortion of space, as if to perform a space jump, but without the energy to enter, it became a type of space secondary to normal space. In this space, all things looked different from their original form, as though they had entered another dimension, unreachable by the enemy’s attacks.

However, the dangers involved were also immense; one wrong judgement by the commander could doom the entire fleet in subspace.

”Disengage!” Inside the Angli Bai, Kama shouted loudly, her eyes filled with immense tension, because she knew that her failure three years ago had happened at this very moment!

However, as a ripple appeared in space, the Giant Mosquito Fleet, under her precise command, incredibly disengaged from subspace altogether.

In space, the Giant Mosquito Fleet had avoided a loss by entering subspace, but the opposing fleet wasn’t so lucky to escape unscathed.

At this instant, the vanguard of the Red Tower Alliance’s Tenth Army’s foremost battleships were hit head-on by attacks launched from very close range by the Giant Mosquito Fleet and took a full, frontal hit.

One battleship began to smoke from its engine, then burst into a roaring blaze from its entire hull, before ultimately splitting in two.

Several other battleships beside it also exploded simultaneously.

In this first clash between the two fleets, it turned out that the Giant Mosquito Fleet suffered no damage whatsoever, while the Red Tower Alliance’s Tenth Army’s vanguard lost more than twenty battleships either destroyed or severely damaged!

This battle, being an extremely important propaganda war, led the Red Tower Alliance to specially deploy a live broadcast ship behind the Tenth Army to cover the event.

And the citizens within the nearby starry sky were very interested in this ’war against outsiders,’ as the Northern Star Domain was plagued with daily conflicts, which the populace had grown tired of watching. Now presented with a novel style of combat, naturally, it attracted their attention even more.

”The first round of the battle surprisingly saw the Giant Mosquito Fleet with a slight advantage. What kind of tactic is this entering subspace?”

”The presenter has provided an answer; this is a well-known tactic from a thousand years ago called the Matea Tactic, but the drawbacks to this approach are also significant. In the past thousand years, no one has been able to replicate it successfully, not even the original creator, who ultimately perished due to this technology.”

”What, it’s actually a suicidal tactic? It looks brilliant now, but who knows, the next moment the entire fleet might be dead.”

Adjacent to the Hao Tower Alliance, the Star Alliance is also monitoring this battle. At this moment, countless citizens are watching this scene, some astonished by the maneuvering method of the Giant Mosquito Fleet, others still convinced that the Giant Mosquito Fleet is on the brink of defeat.

No matter what, the Giant Mosquito Fleet successfully drew the attention of many throughout this expanse of the star domain.

And while these alliances’ public opinions continued to comment on this external conflict, the war in the starry sky was far from over, or rather, it was getting even more intense!

”Don’t be nervous; the Giant Mosquito Fleet’s method is a path to death. One misstep and the entire fleet could fall into subspace, torn into countless pieces. Perhaps only Jia Yan might barely escape.”

”We just have to keep up the saturation attacks, and we’ll win!”

The Red Tower Alliance’s battleships continued to open fire, and upon the tactical officer’s advice, the remaining fleet converged together. Their protective shields were directly linked, and then the comparatively weaker fire from the Giant Mosquito Fleet seemed to have little effect.

”The commander of the Giant Mosquito Fleet is indeed formidable. However, their hardware conditions are too poor. Our battleships’ overall equipment and the level of our firepower surpass theirs. We just need to hold on until their command system collapses, as the commander’s energy is definitely limited.”

Once the Tenth Army had settled on a battle approach, their entire fleet stopped moving and instead gathered together.

”Fight!”

Aboard the Giant Mosquito fleet, Kama, almost twisted in shape within subspace, let out a spirited cry.

Then, following her voice, the entire fleet suddenly appeared behind the Red Tower Allied Army.

Light beams converged and shot upward.

Although the defensive shield of the Allied Army of the Red Tower Alliance was deployed, there were always blind spots that came under attack during a collective strike. This time, after breaking free from subspace, another three battleships from the Tenth Army were destroyed, and more than a dozen were damaged.

”Don’t rush, take aim before firing!”

The assistant in the Tenth Army ordered the subordinate battleships.

This time, the Giant Mosquito Fleet didn’t quickly escape into subspace, for Kama was getting tired.

However, before the remaining two hundred plus battleships fired again, a determined look once more surfaced in her eyes.

”Vessel 352, Vessel 211, Vessel 142...” Her voice carried the commands through the entire fleet.

This was almost a one-on-one war with the enemy.

Before the Tenth Army could unleash their coordinated barrage, the Giant Mosquito Fleet once again entered subspace.

”This is the true Matea Tactic, I feel as if I’m merging with the entire fleet, I’ve done it, I’m not the same as I was three years ago!” Kama, after gaining control over the fleet, nearly cried at the thought of her success.

Her thoughts almost returned to three years ago, when she personally doomed the last resistance force of her country. She had wanted to use this tactic she had studied in the academy, but reality had cruelly struck her down, and the entire fleet had nearly perished at her hands.

Three short years had passed, and she, who once thought life was worthless and didn’t care where she might die, was now in control of a fleet again. And this time, she had succeeded!

”I can’t let the same mistake happen again. Even though our fleet still has Big Boss Jia Yan as the ultimate trump card, as a Marshal, I need to show responsibility.” Kama struggled to focus amidst the flood of data engulfing her.

In the sky, the Giant Mosquito Fleet appeared once more, then vanished.

Once or twice could be considered luck. Two or three times, the enemy and observers wouldn’t regard it as luck anymore. But when the tactic had been used ten times, destroying nearly half of the Red Tower Alliance’s vanguard fleet, the entire enemy’s fleet, and the audience in front of the media, were nearly astonished!

”The Giant Mosquito Fleet, they have truly mastered the Matea Tactic! It’s as if they’re the spitting image of General Piguwei from a thousand years ago. In his time, it was an era belonging to General Piguwei alone, who even managed to control a fleet of a thousand battleships, using the Matea Tactic to repel a Semi-permanent star-level expert. And now, this commander seems to be about to replicate the splendor of that tactic!”

At one media outlet, a Starry Sky Level Expert commentator shouted in some shock as he watched the Giant Mosquito Fleet on the screen.

”No, this commander is at the end of her strength. The news just in suggests that the commander’s power has not reached Starry Sky Level, and her spiritual power couldn’t possibly sustain the Matea Tactic so many times. Watch, the Giant Mosquito Fleet is about to be defeated.”

As expected, when the Giant Mosquito Fleet once again retreated into subspace, it fiercely reappeared shortly afterward.

Kama felt a splitting headache and shook her head vigorously, her eyes slightly hazy. It was as if she was seeing flashes of three years ago when, all alone in that state, her battleship’s escape system activated, and she barely managed to flee the combat zone. But what she faintly saw was her homeland’s fleet being obliterated, the lights from the destroyed ships.

Although she had successfully executed the tactic ten times, she feared that if she fell into that dizziness, the scenario from three years ago might repeat itself...

”Kama, as Marshal, are you underestimating your boss a bit too much? Don’t forget, I’m the protagonist!”

Just as she was clenching her teeth, determined to continue operating the fleet, a gentle voice arose within Kama’s thoughts.

At the same time, on the camp-level spaceship where the Giant Mosquito Fleet had just emerged, a gigantic black figure shot into the sky like lightning!

This figure, akin to a mountain, seemed to be the true soul of the entire fleet, providing Kama with an immense sense of calm.

She instantly snapped out of her daze.

Yes, it was completely different from three years ago. Back then, she was the last straw for her country, the final person responsible for the entire fleet. The life and death of the entire fleet rested in her hands.

But now, the situation was completely different. The real protagonist of this fleet was not her!

From start to finish, it was not her.

The true protagonist of the Giant Mosquito Fleet was naturally the Giant Mosquito race itself, as well as her boss, the unparalleled in combat power, Lord Jia Yan!

”Heh, yes, I was too anxious. Boss... it’s up to you now!”

The Giant Mosquito Fleet emerged from subspace.

This time, they did not immediately retreat back into subspace!

”Haha, the enemy’s commander is done for; it’s our time to counterattack, fire! Crush this Giant Mosquito Fleet directly!”

”No, what is that?!”

”A monster has burst out from the Giant Mosquito Fleet?”
