Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 1069: Chapter 41: The Bliss of Death. [End of this volume]

Mosquito’s funeral was quite grand, after all, he had been the only Starry Sky Level Expert in the fleet other than Jia Yan. Because of Kama’s relationship, a great many members of the fleet attended the ceremony.

A miniaturized version of Souwu, created by technology, was launched into the vast universe to replace his true body, and many of the fleet’s senior officers saluted it.

The cannons for the funeral salute were fired continuously, blooming in the starry sky.

The scene was very spectacular, but among so many attendees, there was one conspicuous absence—a presence who should not have been missing—Jia Yan, the highest-ranking officer of the Giant Mosquito Fleet!

Jia Yan indeed did not attend the ceremony because he felt it was not suitable for him to participate, so he used a rather poor excuse to avoid it.

As the cannons burst in the universe’s starry sky, the fleet moved slowly forward. Within the Adisa, a super giant warship whose body far exceeded all other ships in the fleet, Jia Yan gazed indifferently at the view outside.

In his enormous compound eyes, a light flickered, its shine uncertain, and his thoughts on the current spectacle remained unknown.

”This guy was quite lucky,” Senior Light and Shadow, who suddenly appeared beside Jia Yan, started the conversation with this comment.

”Hm? Souwu was considered lucky?” Jia Yan looked at him, somewhat puzzled.

Light and Shadow, having captured Jia Yan’s attention, turned back to him and sighed softly, ”It’s true, I said he was lucky. Because even after death, so many people remember him and come to see him off. In the entire universe, there aren’t many strong ones who receive such treatment.”

After hearing this, Jia Yan wanted to say something but didn’t quite know what to say at the moment.

Senior Light and Shadow, however, seemed to indulge in even deeper reflection: ”Actually, sometimes the feeling of being alive is not as good as being dead. Take my master, for example; at the peak of his strength, he nearly dominated countless starfields, yet his name grew ever more forgotten. In the pursuit of the path of the Strong Ones, a strong existence’s presence becomes ever weaker, and in the end, he died on that Giant Star without anyone knowing, without anyone to see him off. He died alone... In my opinion, not even the death of your subordinate is as pleasing as his.”

Jia Yan fell silent.

At that moment, he felt an empathic connection. He wondered if he were to die alone in this strange starfield, would his end be like that of the Senior? His family on Earth would have no idea he died, and he would face death in solitude...

No, perhaps even the Senior might have had it better.

Jia Yan and the Light Shadow Monster stood in silence together, looking toward the core of the Giant Mosquito Fleet nearby, where cannons continuously flared.

”Indeed, perhaps Souwu really was fortunate,” Jia Yan finally spoke after a long silence.

The Light Shadow Monster did not respond, and they lapsed back into silence.

...

”The dangers of the Chaos Starfield pose no problem for our fleet anymore, but its mysteries no longer hold any significant benefit for us. Given that we’ve already gathered a satisfactory haul of resources, which we can’t load any more of, I suggest we leave this place soon and head to the Northern Star Domain, to maximize our gains and turn them into benefits we need,” a pleasant and melodious female voice resonated across a massive square area.

This was a meeting hall, a place as long as two hundred meters and about fifty meters wide—an extremely rare open space within a battleship.

But this immense space was still filled to the brim, not for any reason other than the terrifying Giant Mosquito occupying the entire central area, taking up all the space.

No matter how vast the space might seem to other beings, it never felt quite big enough to Big Mosquito, who outside of planets had difficulty finding comfortably large spaces.

However, he had long been accustomed to this, and currently he was just listening to the senior officers of the fleet engaged in discussion around him.

The speaker was Kama, one of the high-ranking officers advocating for an immediate departure from the Chaos Starfield.

Of course, there were naturally those who opposed her, and the one with the most authority here was Mo Ke.

This monster had a grudge against Kama as, although he completely lost to her during their confrontation at the Mysterious Giant Star, upon learning that Mo Ke had suggested dividing the entire fleet at that time, Jia Yan had stripped most of his authority immediately. Were it not that the fleet currently lacked useful people, Mo Ke might have already been killed.

Nevertheless, although he no longer harbored any ill intentions towards Jia Yan, he continued to clash with Kama.

”Marshal, that’s not quite right to say,” Mosquito replied as he faced the Marshal. ”To the outside world, the entire Chaos Starfield is a place shrouded in mystery. The secrets it might hold are probably not limited to just that giant star. We’ve had such a hard time gaining this opportunity to enter this place. If we don’t thoroughly explore it, how can we be worthy of this chance, or of the great efforts made by Lord Jia Yan to help the fleet through crisis after crisis?”

The words of Mo Ke resonated with most members of the fleet, for they knew this place to be a true land of fortune. Previously, there were those who had been rewarded with precious ores for their work with the unmanned machines—a fortune that could support a comfortable life if sold.

And so, the members who had joined the Giant Mosquito Fleet, mostly for their own gain, were absolutely reluctant to leave just like that.

”Mo Ke, your words are misplaced,” Kama argued back without weakness. ”Lord Jia Yan has mentioned before that within this mysterious place, there are forces that we cannot provoke. We have gained plenty already. To press our luck would be foolish, and if that presence decides to hunt us, wouldn’t it doom the entire fleet?”

”You two, stop arguing. My decision has been made,” Jia Yan interjected, cutting short the dispute that was picking up between the two, especially since Mo Ke was bringing up ’forces that cannot be provoked’ once again.

”Mo Ke, you make a fair point. However, I believe that there’s nothing more valuable left in the Chaos Starfield. Let’s stick to our initial plan and leave this place with all speed. There are matters I need to attend to in the Northern Star Domain,” Jia Yan stated calmly.

”Ah, yes, my lord,” Mo Ke replied, no longer daring to argue further, and he quickly nodded in agreement.

Upon hearing Jia Yan’s determination, Kama couldn’t help but show a subtle, triumphant smirk at Mo Ke.

Jia Yan shook his head. Having always believed in the philosophy he had read about on Earth, which suggested dividing one’s subordinates to motivate them, he found that the resulting disputes were incredibly grating on his ears and grew profoundly weary of them.

With the departure of the fleet decided, the remaining preparations were straightforward. As for Big Mosquito, his knowledge of navigation was limited, so the following tasks were of little concern to him; a simple command would suffice.

Upon his return to the Adisa, a ship whose mysterious aura captivated every member of the fleet,

”Jia Yan, I intend to help you improve within two years,” the Light Shadow Monster in front of Jia Yan began instructing the Giant Mosquito. ”However, as for advancing to the Eternal Star Rank, let me tell you in advance: Do not rely too heavily on the Master’s Essence Blood. Due to various factors, your strength has risen rapidly, yet you’ve accumulated many hidden dangers.”

”You must understand that the strength of the strong ones in the universe isn’t obtained without cost! Your rapid progression means there must be sacrifice, and up until now, it has been your own pain and luck. However, if you keep seeking shortcuts in your future advancements, you’ll be courting death! Do you grasp my meaning?”

”I do understand.”

Onboard the Adisa, the Light Shadow Monster imparted knowledge to Jia Yan, the Giant Mosquito. It was day three since the fleet had set off. As the fleet moved, the Mysterious Giant Star, once seemingly as large as an eternal star, gradually diminished in the distance; no matter its size, it was, after all, just a celestial body in the vast universe.

Over the past three days, Jia Yan had dealt with fleet affairs and paid respects at Old Suo Wu’s funeral, as well as learning from the Light Shadow Monster.

”Of course, you need not worry. Though your strength has greatly deviated due to external forces, your current level is still weak. It’s your luck to have met me. With my guidance, I’m certain your body can self-regulate. I have yet to see a body as formidable as yours; you’re merely at the Starry Sky Level with such astounding physical capabilities. I’m sure I can help you adjust your body. And it won’t even take two years—just a few months, and your progress will skyrocket!”

”Many thanks, Senior!” Jia Yan couldn’t hide his delight upon hearing the words of Senior Light and Shadow. He had long been frustrated with his strength not surpassing his peers. It was only upon meeting the Light Shadow Monster that he realized it wasn’t a lack of talent, but rather that he simply hadn’t undergone systematic combat training!

Come to think of it, Jia Yan also felt that his ascension had been somewhat defying the natural order; a Monster who had never learnt how to grow stronger, yet still stumbled towards greatness, even reaching the apex level of the Starry Sky. Such talent was not merely exceptional; it was truly against the natural order!

”Alright, such change isn’t that simple. I’ve outlined several phases for you. Let’s start with the initial two-month phase, which begins with some changes to your cultivation habits...”

”No hurry, there’s plenty of time. Let’s see how I... no, how I forge you! Heh heh.”

...

The entire Giant Mosquito Fleet was unaware that their leader, after acquiring the grand Adisa, was not resting on his laurels within the ship, but rather, was undergoing a much more terrifyingly intense cultivation than they could possibly imagine!

Who in the fleet could believe that for Jia Yan, this mighty strong one, it would be his first systematic cultivation? For him, his current strengths were advancing as rapidly as a rocket in reverse.

Who could know, once they reached the Northern Star Domain, just how far the already terrifyingly progressing Giant Mosquito Monster would advance...

Perhaps, far beyond anyone’s expectations!
