Beneath the earth, there lurked a monster sneaking looks around, its head popping in and out like a ghost.

This creature, roughly the size of a calf, did not resemble the three-headed monsters native to this land but more like a duck from Earth, with dogged determination and a somewhat adorable appearance.

However, what Jia Yan saw was not the monster’s cuteness but an endless yearning for it!

For what could this creature beneath be if not the Chaos Fruit that had been elusively pursued?!

”Souwu, I’ve spotted it again, coordinates sent to you, are you sure you can find it?”

He didn’t dive straight down because his prior experiences had taught him that as an outsider, trying to capture this Chaos Fruit would not end well. He might fail to catch the monster, and instead, attract the attention of the Venerable Three-headed Monster, resulting in a loss far outweighing the gain.

”You’ve seen it again? Good, I’m on my way, don’t you dare startle it!” Souwu’s voice, almost too excited to speak, came through the communicator, followed by a rush of loud wind, as if he was charging over without a care for being discovered by the three-headed monsters.

The Chaos Fruit below wasn’t aware of Jia Yan above, for within this Foggy Area, no monsters capable of true flight existed. Even those mighty three-headed monsters that could fly briefly caused significant disturbance, easily detectable by it.

Although it was only at Sky Level in strength, this Chaos Fruit rarely encountered any natural enemies here. Being devoured by the Strongest of the three-headed monsters, those of the Respected level, happened only occasionally and was inconsequential.

So, this particular Chaos Fruit had a low alertness towards outsiders, never even considering the possibility of Jia Yan above.

Perhaps, it didn’t take that pursuit from a few days ago seriously at all.

Now, the creature slowly crawled through the fog, sniffing around and nibbling at anything it found appealing.

As it turned out, this creature fed on the carcasses of three-headed monsters. In this region, those creatures were plentiful – the weaker fed on Chaos mist for sustenance, the more powerful on their own kind, leaving behind corpses that served as prime nourishment for the Chaos Fruits.

”I’m here, the pursuing Venerable Three-headed Monster from behind will catch up in about two minutes, we need to be quick.”

While Jia Yan was observing the Chaos Fruit, Souwu’s voice reached his ears.

That quick?

Jia Yan looked back in astonishment, only to see a body flashing like lightning, which closed the distance in mere moments.

It was Souwu, that old creature!

True to a sacred level monster known for its speed, even by his own admission, at the weakest brink of his strength, Souwu was far beyond Jia Yan’s pace.

”It really is a Chaos Fruit!”

Souwu arrived and without so much as a glance at Jia Yan, his eyes were immediately fixed on the Chaos Fruit on the ground, the excitement in his gaze extremely prominent, seemingly unconcerned with Jia Yan anymore.

”Am I right, then what’s our next move? Didn’t you say we need to cooperate to capture it?” Jia Yan asked, disregarding Souwu’s attitude.

”Yes, we must work together to capture it. Though its strength is not daunting for us, it’s highly sensitive to vibrations, we’ll have to go about it this way...”

Souwu presented a plan, and Jia Yan’s expression turned icy with discomfort.

”The cooperative plan you’re talking about, I’m just supplementing your endeavor, which means if we capture the Chaos Fruit, it would be your catch. What would I gain from that? You surely don’t expect me to help out of the goodness of my heart, especially after facing life-threatening dangers before!”

Souwu’s demeanor suddenly stalled; he had been too eager, not considering Jia Yan’s position. Now that Jia Yan brought it to his attention, his plan indeed involved the two of them working together to drive the Chaos Fruit towards capture, with Souwu using their speed difference to secure the catch.

In turn, Souwu would gain the Chaos Fruit, but what about Jia Yan? He would end up with nothing.

”Jia Yan, if you’re willing to help me, I promise to help you capture another Chaos Fruit afterward. If all else fails, I’ll hand over the operating rights of a Strong Team’s huge battleship to you, which will boost the strength of your fleet, how about that? I don’t have more to offer right now.”

Souwu, gazing at the Chaos Fruit below, was extremely anxious. If it weren’t for the need of another flying creature’s assistance in this task, he would have acted on his own. He was concerned that Jia Yan’s stalling would give the Chaos Fruit a chance to burrow away, and he’d lose a significant opportunity.

”Fine, but let’s make it clear: if the Chaos Fruit charges towards me and I catch it, don’t feel like I’ve stolen it from you,” Jia Yan stated coldly.

Souwu paused, his expression cooling; he understood Jia Yan’s intention.

”Alright, one minute has passed already, let’s not forget the Venerable Three-headed Monster behind us. No time to lose, let’s get moving.”

At that moment, a tacit understanding was reached between them regarding the distribution of the Chaos Fruit, surprisingly decided by the outcome of the resulting struggle.

Boom! Boom!

Their bodies separated violently at that moment.

Below, the Chaos Fruit seemed to hear something; its head lifted, searching around incessantly—but with its poor eyesight, it was completely unable to detect that, in the skies above, two flying monsters had already begun to encircle it simply.

The two flying monsters flew for about a kilometer.

Then, as if in practiced coordination, they swooped in to surround their prey at the exact same moment!

The sonic boom of their flying speed erupted in the area, almost reverberating through heaven and earth. At this moment, the two monsters themselves didn’t know how fast they were flying, having almost reached the peak speed attainable in the Foggy Area.

Jia Yan only felt a terrifying, hallucinatory impact in his head at that moment—the faster his brain operated, the more he couldn’t distinguish up from down, left from right. The fog’s effect intensified with his speed, and at this point, he started to wobble, almost tumbling down.

Fortunately, his target was clear. The silhouette of the Chaos Fruit became his flight marker; now, as he dived down, the image of the Chaos Fruit rapidly enlarged in his vision—a delusion caused by fast approach!

A mere kilometer was practically an instant for the two flying monsters speeding through the air.

Meanwhile, the Chaos Fruit continuously gnawed at a corpse on the ground, but its vigilance never waned. When the terrifying shockwave sounded through heaven and earth, it became a strong danger signal for the creature. The Chaos Fruit jerked up in alarm, its duck-like beak pouting as it saw the two monsters darting down from the sky!

It immediately let out a frightened, duck-like quack, followed by surprisingly swift movement. It had practiced hundreds, if not thousands of times, diving headfirst towards the ground in an attempt to burrow.

”Not so easy!”

Souwu’s face turned cold as he rocketed through the air, and a curious piece of equipment in his gear burst forth with a wave of vibrating power.

”Quack, quack!” The Chaos Fruit tried to dig into the ground only to discover a vibrating force emanating from below. Though this force wasn’t frightening enough to cause it terror, the Chaos Fruit, seemingly scared, hastily gave up its attempt to burrow, pivoting on its large feet and scrambling off to one side of the ground.

It was quick to burrow, but its running speed was mediocre. As it scurried a little distance away, Jia Yan and Souwu were already closing in on it.

Just as the Chaos Fruit was about to burrow again, Souwu’s special equipment was completely drained of energy. This was a device Souwu had devoted significant effort to constructing specifically for the Chaos mist area, capable of momentarily solidifying and vibrating a specific area of the ground in the mist zone, but it couldn’t be activated again in a short span.

Originally, the plan was for Jia Yan to chase the Chaos Fruit first, and then Souwu would seize the chance to capture it. But after their previous agreement fell through, they were now approaching at nearly the same speed, with Jia Yan and Souwu both closing in on the Chaos Fruit as it attempted to burrow.

”Where do you think you’re going!”

Souwu grew anxious, but although his speed was fast, it wasn’t fast enough compared to the peculiar burrowing creature, the Chaos Fruit. He felt a touch of despair as he saw the Chaos Fruit once again start digging into the ground.

”Hmph!”

Just as he was feeling disappointed, Jia Yan, not too far off, suddenly unleashed a strong surge of Brainwave Power.

This pulse of Brainwave Power wasn’t extremely powerful, but it was considerable against a Heavenly-level monster. The creature’s body momentarily paused.

Releasing the Brainwave Power, Jia Yan’s body also suffered a recoil, pausing momentarily in midflight.

”Now’s my chance!”

Seeing the Chaos Fruit stunned by Jia Yan’s Brainwave Power, Souwu burst forth with an unprecedented speed.

His body was able to slip into Subspace for an instant, even within the Foggy Area, and in the next moment, he appeared beside the Chaos Fruit, his body marked with terrifying wounds and blood seeping out—indicating the high price he paid for that burst of speed.

”Quack, quack!” Confronted by a monster in front of it, the Chaos Fruit’s eyes showed a glint of panic. However, there was absolutely no chance of it matching Souwu’s speed, especially while still under the intimidation of Jia Yan’s Brainwave Power.

Thud!

With a swift grab, Souwu’s claws caught the Chaos Fruit, and its duck-like quacking turned unbearably shrill.

”Ha-ha-ha! I finally caught you. Ha-ha, Stellar Level, I can reach Stellar Level now!” Souwu’s elated cry spread through the air.

Just then, a sharp sound of wind slicing approached from behind.

”Give me the Chaos Fruit!”

Jia Yan’s eyes filled with icy resolve, his forepaw aimed at Souwu’s rapidly flying body and he stabbed viciously.
