Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5014  Twisted Fathers?

Mingzhi and Zenova had a good discussion as the former first revealed her origin.

Mo Wuming.

He was the leader of the Mo Consortium, a big conglomerate and even a syndicate operating in the shadows. Having committed many crimes, he was a well-known figure throughout the planet, but there was another identity people didnʼt know; his codename in the syndicate, Twizer, was feared.

However, he suddenly died of unknown causes, which turned out to be Davis.

Zenova looked intrigued the whole time as she learned a lot about the modern world of Planet Earth while also learning about Mingzhiʼs father and his crimes. She finally looked as though she understood, ”So the reason why our Emperor took on the name Mo Tian was actually him consoling you for killing your father?”

Back then, when she first met Davis, he went by the name Mo Tian, and people gave him the Title Saint Mo Tian.

”Maybe, I donʼt care other than him sharing the same name as mine at least once.”

Mingzhi brought her hands up to her cheeks, appearing cute.

Zenova gazed at Mingzhi intently, her eyes then losing focus as though pondering for a bit.

She then said after some consideration, ”After becoming an Empyrean and consolidating your Truesoul, you mustʼve remembered your father in his full glory, his caring and attentive demeanor focused all on you despite his wicked nature when you were a child. Perhaps, this is also why you are unstable, the darkness in your soul trying to consume you.”

”…” Mingzhi put her hands down and heaved a breath, ”Iʼm not sure. Sure, I loved my father once, but those emotions are already buried when I thought I had been abandoned, only to later learn that he was killed by Tian Long, my secret sponsor in the orphanage, whom I always wanted to meet and developed a crush on over time- a sort of one-sided affection. Hence, when I wasnʼt able to find Tian Long and ask him why he killed my father, even though the answer was obvious since my investigations revealed he had been abused, I became heavily depressed.”

”But after he came back as Davis, a cultivator that we mortals wouldʼve never dreamed of seeing one, I wanted him no matter what as I was intent on marrying him from a young age, even if I had to be a mistress in case he was already married since mistresses were commonplace in the modern world, but thinking now, perhaps it was a form of atonement for my fatherʼs crimes. Iʼm not stupid. When I turned into an adult, I inherited a vast amount of wealth from the syndicate because of Tian Longʼs arrangement and could trace it back to the Mo Consortium. When I saw the bank records and saw that it hadnʼt been used much, I already knew Tian Long hadnʼt killed my father for wealth. He left everything for me. Hence, my crush on him only grew further into something similar to that of an obsession.”

Mingzhiʼs eyes glazed as she appeared fond of the old memories.

Zenova took a moment to understand before she nodded.

”I suppose this issue isnʼt treated fully. Fortunately, no Heart Demon has formed as far as I can tell since the Heart Intent or light-darkness physique has merged it with yours, leading to natural corruption that you will eventually consume you. Nonetheless, you must willingly bring out your Heart Demon and face it.”

”…”

Mingzhi pouted, looking unsure.

She didnʼt feel like she had a problem with this matter since she had made her decision long ago.

”The underlying issue is that I canʼt control the impact of the emotions of others, leading to internal radicalization, which will eventually lead to taking extreme measures to deal with issues. Iʼm still alright, so it isnʼt like Iʼm going to go insane and explode. Iʼll deal with it sooner or later since Davis hasnʼt said anything about me. If he has confidence in me, why wouldnʼt I have confidence in myself?”

”…” Zenovaʼs lips parted before she nodded, ”I apologize. I overstepped my bounds.”

”No, donʼt be. I appreciate you caring for me. Itʼs a mark of being true sisters. I will be sure to tell others that youʼre starting to look after us like a big sister. Anyway, quick, tell me about your imperial father who shaped you into a beautiful monster.”

”…”

Zenovaʼs brows twitched, but looking at Mingzhiʼs excited expression, she took it as a compliment and conveyed her fatherʼs story.

Tiberius Artoria.

The previous Emperor of the fallen Artoria Family in the Fifty-Two Territories, a person suspected to have comprehended Enigmatic Heart Laws, although it was unclear if he had reached Level One Obscure Intent, as he was still a mortal cultivator.

Even Ancestor Dian Alstreim took tens and thousands of years to comprehend Level One Obscure Intent, and he was known to be the greatest Enigmatic Heart Laws cultivator at his time before Davis appeared, so the difficulty of reaching such a level could be understood.

However, Zenova stated she suspected her imperial father had comprehended Enigmatic Heart Laws, but she never could tell if it was true or not, even until the final moment when she personally buried him in the mausoleum she had built for him.

He had one Empress, six Noble Consorts, plenty of Consorts and Concubines in the thousands, possibly reaching fifteen thousand.

When Mingzhi heard it, she was beyond speechless as it just didnʼt seem to be all talk but a reality.

Zenova seemed to be born from one of the concubines who instantly got promoted to a Consort after becoming pregnant.

However, when she gave birth, Zenova was revealed by a Divergent as a baby, only to be scorned and nearly murdered by her own mother, who refused to believe she had given birth to such evil, but her imperial father suddenly beheaded her mother, and killed all those who were present at the scene, allowing her to survive.

When she grew up, her imperial father always kept her by his side, not indulging her but imparting his values, skills, strategies, and techniques. She was also studious and smart, not to mention controlled both fire and lightning, leading her to become popular and even get close with a few siblings, but because of the favor shown by their imperial father, they eventually ostracized her after they became adults.

Why?

Because her imperial father merely said that the Artoria Family could be ruled by an Empress in the future at a national banquet, causing a tremendous uproar since the Artoria Family had always been Patriarchal.

This twist left Zenova dumbfounded, and she saw everyone she thought was close looking at her with expressions as though they were strangers. She could feel envy and jealousy from them, but also hate and scorn.
