Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4999  In The Spotlight

After the ceremony ended, Jiayi Crystalveil was promptly removed from the Ceremonial Hall by the peak experts of the True Peak Emporium while the others dealt with the crowd.

The True Peak City was absolutely blowing up, with some speculating it was over for the True Peak Emporium, while others speculated Jiayi Crystalveil would be exiled.

The merchant city that silently witnessed the ceremony was not buzzing incessantly.

Jiayi Crystalveil was promptly brought to a chamber.

Before she could enter the room, she gazed at her father, who looked at her with some helplessness, before eying her not to be stupid and make the True Peak Emporium fall overnight.

Jiayi Crystalveil offered no response.

She only glared at her father with a faint amount of respect, which was decreasing day after day as she had become mature and experienced enough to see his methods.

She ignored him and walked straight into the chamber, still dressed like a merchant queen, before appearing before the seated Celestial Transcendent as she bowed.

”Greetings, Supreme One.”

”Take a seat.”

The Celestial Transcendent said softly.

Jiayi Crystalveil felt a heavy pressure, but with those words, she felt some weight reduce as she raised her head and finally saw his face.

There also seemed to be a white-haired man, but the Virtuous Dawn Realm Master was nowhere to be seen, leaving her somewhat perplexed, but she didnʼt say much, took a few steps back, and sat properly as she swayed her long robe to sit properly.

”Please ask me anything~”

She raised her hand and gestured, an air of professionalism radiating from her.

”Oh, you donʼt seem fearful, much less surprised.”

The Celestial Transcendent spoke with a tone of interest, his leg over the other as he reclined on the comfortable sofa.

Jiayi Crystalveil smiled lightly behind her veil, ”I have been told that I would meet the Supreme One face to face sooner or later. Seeing your majesty once is indeed the honor of my lifetime, but Iʼm afraid the circumstances have left me in an awkward state.”

Her melodious voice echoed, no longer carrying a hint of authority, but remained strong and firm.

”Self-awareness is good. I wonder how much he has charmed you for you to undertake such a large cooperation.”

”Supreme One, I assure you, my relationship with the Divine Emperor of Death is purely transactional with the added benefit of loyalty.”

”Pfft~”

Zest Hyluan was drinking tea elegantly when he sprayed the tea he drank to the side, then turned to look at Jiayi Crystalveil, wondering if she was insane.

”She means business loyalty.”

The Celestial Transcendent cleared up the misunderstanding with Zest Hyluan before smilingly returning his gaze to Jiayi Crystalveil.

”Indeed.” Jiayi Crystalveil nodded, ”I had the Divine Emperor of Death agree that he would not trade with anyone other than myself unless it is for specialized resources. All the resources would flow through my logistics. Even the True Peak Emporium canʼt interfere with this business of mine unless they want to exile or murder me, after which, they would lose this relationship. However, I presume this option seems increasingly favorable since your majesty has shown up in person to investigate me.”

She wryly smiled and then tilted her head, ”I wonder for what reason I am here. The Heavenʼs Warriors have investigated me and all there is to it.”

The Celestial Transcendent nodded, ”Fret not. You have been cleared by the Divine Sentinel Order, and even the other two Heavenʼs Warriors organizations didnʼt find anything strange. You are temporarily safe from legal proceedings under my galaxyʼs common laws until things progress further, and I also commend you for trying to siphon resources from the Divine Emperor of Death.”

”…”

Jiayi Crystalveil maintained her smile before her expression solidified, her smile leaving her face.

”Yes, I commend you. Keep doing it.” The Celestial Transcendent repeated himself, ”Keep doing it until heʼs fully out of resources to consume and only has crystals to absorb. Crystals arenʼt worth anything in the long run, especially the stages after the Empyrean Stage, but resources are. As long as you can siphon everything that can increase his strength and even his familyʼs strength, you will have contributed greatly to our cause.”

”…”

Jiayi Crystalveil went speechless. This wasnʼt going the way she had simulated in her mind?

Suddenly, the Celestial Transcendentʼs smile receded.

”However, there are certain issues that I would not be comfortable with no matter what. I presume you met with my granddaughter?”

”…”

Jiayi Crystalveil heaved a breath. Finally, her simulation was back on track.

She nodded, ”Yes, I have met with Fairy Retribution and received a mission to find Zhao Yan personally.”

”Fairy Retribution?”

The Celestial Transcendent blinked before he nodded, ”So she has decided to take that title. No matter- since you have met Anastasia Archus…”

He abruptly leaned forward and narrowed his eyes, ”Did you leak her whereabouts or information to the Divine Emperor of Death?”

”I absolutely did not.”

Jiayi Crystalveil quickly replied, her gaze even defiant, ”This, I swear to the heavens!”

”…”

The Celestial Transcendent remained silent, his gaze cold and his chin resting on the back of his hands, his elbows using the knees as a foundation.

”Then- does the Divine Emperor of Death know about Anastasia Archus?”

”…”

Jiayi Crystalveilʼs pupils flickered, ”Yes.”

Zest Hyluan was blowing on the tea lightly when his breath stopped. He slowly kept the teacup on the table before turning to look at his friend, hoping to stop him. However, he saw that he still remained silent.

”Was the Divine Emperor of Death the one who fought Anastasia Archus, clad in the body of Gʼharen Bloodrain, no matter the possession technique?”

Jiayi Crystalveil wanted to open her mouth.

However, she found she couldnʼt. She reached out her hand, trying to pick something, but realized not even a cup of tea was placed in front of her, making her shiver. She brought her hands back and clenched her fists.

”From my speculation… yes.”

*Boom!~*

The vases and nearly all the furniture in the room exploded.

The Celestial Transcendent heaved a breath and leaned back after successfully restraining his killing intent.

Zest Hyluan, on the other hand, was shocked. The Celestial Transcendent had guessed right? What kind of incredible foresight was that?

A few moments later, the Celestial Transcendent opened his mouth.

”So what did he say about it?”

”…”

Jiayi Crystalveil was unresponsive.

The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his brows, losing his patience, but then relaxed, seeing that Jiayi Crystalveil had fainted while being seated. He breathed out a sigh and then waited for her to come back to her senses when a slap echoed on his back.

”Idiot, what are you doing, bullying a little girl? If youʼre asking questions, then ask questions. Why are you so aggressive?”

”My bad…” The Celestial Transcendent shook his head, ”I wished… it wasnʼt him because if it is, he just created karma between us- our families to be precise. Moreover, choosing not to kidnap my granddaughter while still having a good chance is basically slapping my face, telling me that he doesnʼt need such a thing to confront me while we are all intent on eradicating him and his Divergent Family.”

”Wasnʼt he just afraid of incurring your wrath?” Zest Hyluan looked dismissive.

The Celestial Transcendent went silent before he shook his head.

”Perhaps… but I donʼt believe that since he has come this far, is lacking the method to combat us. That replica of the Thread Essence of Karma he bought at the auction in the Elemental Dimension is suspicious, even if broken. We donʼt know its abilities, but if he captures the karma he created with Anastasia, the consequences are unthinkable for her. Combined with the black-white stone he possesses and can command with authority, donʼt you think the karma these two treasures strangely connect to is…”

Zest Hyluanʼs eyes bulged, ”No way… you mean the lost fused primeval treasure of the Tablet of Life and Death and Essence Thread of Karma!?”
