Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5000  The Archus Family

”…”

The Celestial Transcendent nodded silently.

The fact that the Divine Emperor of Death obtained these two treasures means that it might eventually lead him to that fused primeval treasure, which was a dangerous concept. As much as a Divergent wasnʼt bound by fate, they tended to eclipse everything else in order to arrive at that juncture forcefully.

He felt somewhat appalled by this kind of future.

But on the other hand, Zest Hyluanʼs expression turned even more complex.

”Rumor had it that my great-granddaughter obtained that treasure during that instance, but she showed no signs of possessing it and even died in the end, killed by you…”

As he said, he released a hint of killing intent towards the Celestial Transcendent, causing him to sigh.

”I didnʼt want to either, but before the Divine Emperor of Death, she possessed the greatest threat, perhaps even had the potential to become something above, now confirmed to what would be a Desolate Divergent. Forgive me, my friend.”

”…”

Zest Hyluan heaved a breath full of anger, but his gaze carried pity, turning to look away.

As he was once the Ancestor of the Hyluan Family of the Chrono Reign Upper Realm, the World Master was naturally one of his descendants. When he heard the news of his great-granddaughter of many generations being an Anarchic Divergent, he was devastated.

She was a crippled mortal from birth, bringing scorn and shame to the union of her father and mother, but he still cared for his great-granddaughter, having only seen her once before leaving for the Greater Realm to defend the human race from threats.

When he came back, it was already beyond saving.

His great-granddaughter had become an Anarchic Divergent and never showed herself, and he was afraid to face her. In the end, he just went back to defend and take part in galaxy wars, finally only daring to return when he heard she had passed away, eliminated by the Celestial Transcendent.

His expression scrunched with shame and disgust, wanting to spit at himself.

He couldnʼt even protect that small soul or even kill her himself? What right did he have to insult the Celestial Transcendent!?

”No… Itʼs my fault.” He said, going silent.

The Celestial Transcendent momentarily turned to look at him, sighing lightly.

Old people like them were always the ones to carry the pain as long as they lived. Their shoulders were heavy as mountains, and they were mentally languished. Life and death became synonymous. As much as they cared about the birth of new blood, they were scared that they couldnʼt protect it until the end, mentally checking out from placing affection and only caring about a select few.

Those who cared about their entire family were few and far between, but if they did care, it was nothing but a curse they imposed on themselves.

Even for those Divergents, he didnʼt know how many he had to eliminate just because they were calamities for the universe.

Just like his friend Zest Hyluan, he tended to leave it to others to deal with it until it could no longer be delayed.

”Some issues pertaining to the survival of the human race, much less the survival of the universe, have no moral distinction of good and evil. Eliminating Divergents is one such issue. It doesnʼt matter if theyʼre good or evil. Theyʼre branded evil by us, not because theyʼre purely evil, but for the sake of allowing people to salvage their conscience. Hence, even if they must end a Divergent baby and nip the source of calamity before it could grow, many would unhesitatingly do it. Even magical beasts, spirits, and all other races from other galaxies follow this line of thought. Itʼs not your fault that you chose to stay away.”

He spoke in a gloomy voice, causing Zest Hyluan to be startled before he nodded.

”True.”

”Indeed, I can understand,”

”…?”

At this moment, Jiayi Crystalveil seemed to have awakened, causing the Celestial Transcendent and Zest Hyluan to be startled.

They narrowed their eyes, wondering how much she had heard.

They were so carefree and wallowing in self-loathing that they forgot to use soul transmission.

”I woke up when your majesty mentioned the survival of the human race, so thereʼs no need to worry.”

Seeing their expressions, Jiayi Crystalveil said smilingly in a knowing manner.

Now that the Celestial Transcendent had vented, she actually felt more relaxed than scared. It was always the first explosion of anger she was worried about. The rest can be dealt with as long as she satisfied the other partyʼs needs- in this case, Anastasia Archus and Zhao Yan, which she had obtained full permission from Davis to reveal it in three occasions- three years, whenever the Celestial Transcendent showed up or when her life was in danger from being hunted down by Heavenʼs Warriors or similar authorities.

With that-

”Zhao Yan is in the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs hands.”

Jiayi Crystalveil revealed her voice, melodious yet cutting through them sharply.

”…”

The Celestial Transcendentʼs pupils dilated while Zest Hyluanʼs jaw slightly parted.

Jiayi Crystalveil took a breath, ”He said he will be ready to initiate a transaction in three years with your granddaughter while I oversee the transaction. Other than that, I simply have no idea where he is or what heʼs doing. The communication is mostly one-sided, so even if you torture me or soulscour me, youʼll likely find nothing other than hear my pitiful wails.”

She wryly ended her words, causing Celestial Transcendent to scoff lightly.

”Arenʼt you afraid heʼll abandon you? Even now, youʼre pretty much at the mercy of my palm, donʼt you think?”

”Speaking of which, this palm saved me from the Accursed Warlock who targeted me. My apologies for thanking you later. Iʼm extremely grateful, but really- thereʼs no need for Celestial Transcendent to make a move. Any elder from my own power will suffice as theyʼre ready to kill me and take my wealth. If you want, Iʼm willing to write a final letter telling the Divine Emperor of Death that our cooperation is over and commit suicide honorably. However-”

Jiayi Crystalveilʼs wry expression receded, becoming solemn, ”-if I die, Zhao Yan will also die. These are not my words but the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs words. Hence, I request full immunity from any inspection and investigation in the future, in addition to having full protection, even from my own power.”

”…”

The Celestial Transcendent stared at her before he turned to look at Zest Hyluan as though asking if he still saw her as a little girl.

Zest Hyluan smiled wryly, nearly shrugging.

The Celestial Transcendent breathed out lightly and returned his gaze.

”What about Anastasia? He practically revived from her thigh using blood? How can I believe that he hadnʼt marked her with some kind of karmic technique, intent to claim her life in the end, or hold her hostage after this mess?”

Jiayi Crystalveil paused, contemplating her words before speaking.

”The Divine Emperor of Death is well aware of your concern and has told me that he has no way to prove that he hadnʼt done anything other than having sparred with her and becoming impressed. Whether you believe him or not is something up to you to decide, although it was your Covenant that told me that this person can be somewhat trusted in the first place.”

”…”

The Celestial Transcendent lowered his head, seemingly contemplating.

”Alright, you will get your immunity.” Zest Hyluan offered her.

”Many thanks, supreme cultivator.”

Jiayi Crystalveil cupped her hands, but before she could rejoice, the other party continued.

”But in exchange, if you get wind of the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs position next time, you will promptly inform us.”

”No, thank you then~”

Jiayi Crystalveil put her hands down, ”I donʼt have a death wish.”

Zest Hyluan looked taken aback, ”Why? This guy here will give you access to his familyʼs treasury if you can succeed and even give you full protection.”

”…”

Jiayi Crystalveil remained silent, her expression twitching.

Obviously, she was tempted, but she knew the dangers of jumping around. It was no different than a woman trying to monkey-branch, attempting to shower in the graces of different men at the same time. It was no different in the business world and would get her crushed.

”Donʼt bother. Sheʼs smitten with him. A rising star always attracts, even if itʼs a death star.”

Celestial Transcendent dismissively waved his hand, still thinking.

Jiayi Crystalveil blushed ever so lightly. Was she smitten? She didnʼt know, but haunted by dangers everywhere, she started imagining he might be her protective figure. This wasnʼt something she could control, but never in her right mind would she give herself to a dying star.

That much, she was certain, or so she believed.

Her fists clenched but loosened, unsure of her own nature that should only be focused on those crystals.

A few seconds later, an unamused voice resounded.

”Alright, Iʼll leave the transaction to you and give you full immunity, but you need to tell him to release Zhao Yan faster. Three years is too long for my daughter, who has just woken up from a long sleep!”

===========

Celestial Heaven Skypeak.

”Second aunt!”

Anastasia Archus firmly wrapped her arms around Felicia Archus.

Felicia Archus smiled weakly while still bedridden, currently recovering from her long sleep.

”Youʼre the eighth granddaughter of our little family, the youngest?”

”Mnn, I am!~”

Anastasia Archusʼs eyes were moist as she raised her head, the arrogant and cold expression nowhere to be seen.

”Good, good… Iʼve heard about your current accomplishments. Third sister has given birth to a prodigy.” Felicia Archus said fondly.

Her expression was still pale, her hair white, giving off a weak appearance, but her eyes glowed strongly with hopeful radiance as she learned of her new family members one by one. She gazed around, noticing her little sister, Anastasiaʼs mother, Velmira Archus.

A True Deity!

Her gaze panned across the chamber, nearly everyone present for her insignificant life.

First Daughter, Valeria Archus, a True Deity-level expert of the Exalt Path, a World Hegemon!

Second Son, Zerathion Archus - World Hegemon!

Third Son, Gideon Archus - Hierarch!

Fourth Son, Tiberon Archus - Hierarch!

First Grandson, Cassius Archus - World Hegemon!

Sixth Grandson, the second youngest of the entire family, is also a Hierarch! He was also the blood brother of Anastasia Archus.

In their family, only Anastasia Archus was an Autarch, and she was also an Autarch, making her feel quite close to reality. She took comfort in Anastasia Archusʼs joy, even knowing her little niece was constantly sharing emotions through Heart Intent, making her feel at home.

*Creek~*

At this moment, another person entered the room.

However, it was hard to say they were a human as nine tails elongated from their figure, shrouded in a veil yet incredibly captivating with a life aura bursting everywhere within the room, even making her languid and exhausted body feel as though she was energized instantly.

”Felicia… youʼre finally awake…”

Tears spilled from this figure, instantly causing Felicia to also shed tears uncontrollably.

”Mother!~”

Anastasia Archus let go of her second aunt and watched her run to her mother and cry like a baby. Her pupils witnessed a grand sight of the encompassing nine tails towering over Felicia Archus and instantly showering her with an incredulous amount of thick and dense life energy that instantly made even the Primarch Grade herbs outside grow.

Anastasia Archus gulped ever so lightly, still finding it more difficult to fathom her grandmotherʼs existence than her grandfatherʼs, perhaps because even in her human form, her grandmother radiated the pressure of a ten thousand mountain range, her figure small yet her shadow as vast as a star.

An Emperor-Tier Grand Ancestral Rank Magical Beast, Venerable Lifeweaver Fox - a being that surpassed the True Deity Stage. For beasts, the True Deity Stage was known as the World Beast Stage or even the Realm Beast Stage.

But a being surpassing even that… a Universe Deity...!

In other words…

”A Primordial Beast…” Anastasia Archus licked her lips, knowing her family was invincible.
