I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 998, Earth Tiger Tribe’s Predicament

Translator: Silavin

Right now, the primitive forest was experiencing the peak rainfall of the rainy season. Every location faced the same conditions.

The people of Earth Tiger Tribe were also confronting the arrival of the rainy season. This was also when problems had emerged within the Tribe.

Inside the Earth Tiger Tribe, severe spots had a great amount of water being accumulated. Right now, mud pits and water holes were visible across the ground.

Not only that, but some Teepees had been directly washed away by the rainwater, completely reduced to mere Animal Hides.

Throughout the entire Earth Tiger Tribe now, people could be seen wandering everywhere. Of course, that was just an unpleasant way of putting it, since they were still within the Tribe.

It was simply that they had lost their places to live. The places where they slept at night had been directly washed away by the rainwater.

Fortunately, some Teepees had not been washed away, but had merely shifted position gradually with the flow of the rainwater as it fell.

They only needed to retrieve their Teepees and secure them to the ground, though this was not an easy task either.

Because the rainfall was simply too heavy, streams and even small ponds had begun appearing throughout the Tribe.

The soil was extremely soft. The Teepees could not be properly secured to the ground at all. There was no point of setting up a Teepee in waterlogged earth.

So even the lucky ones were not that fortunate. If they were bold enough, they simply slept directly on the muddy ground. At least overhead they still had a Teepee to block the falling rain.

However, as for where a person might wake up tomorrow, that was anyone’s guess. Who knew where the water might carry them.

With no place to live, there was even less to say about the food that had been stored in those living spaces.

That food had long since been soaked in water. The allocated food portions had not been much to begin with, and now this was like a bolt from the blue.

They had no other option. Even though that food was contaminated with mud and softened by water, they could only steel themselves and save it to eat.

They had no alternative. They had no fresh food, and certainly no shops where they could eat. They could only rely on this food to get through the rainy season.

The rainy season would continue raining for a very long period. During this time, they had no way to work, and naturally no way to exchange work for food.

Watching this scene after scene, Yini felt somewhat at a loss.

Although these were scenes that appeared every year previously, looking at them now gave a completely different feeling.

“It’s raining so heavily outside, and with the people in such chaos, you should go back and rest first.” Ci said with concern.

Since returning from the Flame Dragon Tribe, both their personalities had undergone significant changes.

Originally cheerful every day, as if without too many worries. After all, in the Tribe, they ate and drank well. Moreover, being a Warrior herself, the treatment she received was even better. Taking a step back, even if she were not a Warrior, she was still the Daughter of the Tribe’s Chieftain. The treatment she received certainly would not be poor.

The class division in Earth Tiger Tribe was too obvious. The upper-class people were upper-class, while the lower-class people’s lives naturally were not any better.

In other words, those who lived well lived even better, while those who did not live well lived even worse.

It was the same as the modern world’s situation. The wealthy were extremely wealthy, the poor extremely poor. The polarisation was very severe.

“Do you feel that actually our Tribe isn’t as great as we thought?” Yini suddenly asked.

When the young woman spoke these words, she never raised her head. Her brow was filled with worried creases.

“You must be thinking about life in the Flame Dragon Tribe, right?” Ci asked bluntly.

The other party’s change was simply too obvious. Anyone who was not a fool could see it.

“I know I shouldn’t think this way, but these are all facts. The Flame Dragon Tribe is truly better than ours.”

Yini sighed. “You also saw the Flame Dragon Tribe’s main roads and stone houses. They absolutely will not encounter issues like ours.”

Yini was no fool. Anyone could see the benefits of the Flame Dragon Tribe’s flat main roads during the rainy season.

Water accumulation on those roads was absolutely impossible, and even more impossible was the situation of mud everywhere.

The houses needed even less explanation. The contrast between the two Tribes revealed this huge disparity.

The Flame Dragon Tribe’s stone houses, no matter how long or how heavily it rained, would never be washed away.

Forget being washed away. Even the situation of houses leaking water did not exist.

Right now, they didn’t know what cement was. They only knew that the stones combined together so tightly and seamlessly, such that these stone houses could not possibly leak water.

“That is indeed fact. Flame Dragon Tribe is truly better than us in this aspect. I don’t know how they managed to do it.” Ci also conceded.

She had originally thought that as a person of the Earth Tiger Tribe, she absolutely could not boost others’ prestige while destroying her own.

But facts were facts, and gaps were gaps. Moreover, with such a huge chasm of difference, it was difficult not to acknowledge it.

She really had no way to speak nonsense with her eyes open. In her heart, she truly yearned for the Flame Dragon Tribe.

“They have confidence backing them. Otherwise, they couldn’t possibly have made us hand over so many slaves and Shaman Bone Tablets. It’s just unclear what their true trump cards are.” Yini brushed her hair while pondering, feeling that matters were far from as simple as they appeared on the surface.

Yini felt that the Flame Dragon Tribe still possessed other strength unknown to others. Of course, before they could investigate further, that previous incident had occurred.

“In future, don’t talk anymore about investigating their secrets. What we can do now is only cooperate with them, or else trade.”

After the previous incident, Ci had seen through certain things. Underhanded methods simply would not work on the Flame Dragon Tribe.

From the moment they stepped into the Flame Dragon Tribe, all their every move had been within the other party’s control. From this, one could see that the Flame Dragon Tribe’s strength was not at all weak. On the contrary, it might even be stronger than they imagined.

“After the rainy season passes, I plan to go to the Flame Dragon Tribe again,” Yini suddenly said.

“I think the Chieftain probably won’t be willing to let you go. We just lost so many things, and now it’s the rainy season. Our Tribe’s losses are still continuously growing.” Ci glanced at the Tribe’s dishevelled appearance. “The Chieftain hates the Flame Dragon Tribe to death now. Do you think he’ll still let you go?”

“Father doesn’t understand. We’re simply no match for the Flame Dragon Tribe. If we want to let the Tribe develop, we can only cooperate with them.” Yini blinked her exquisite eyes, as if having an idea in her heart.

“Then you can try. I think the chances aren’t great though.” Ci shrugged her shoulders.

She no longer remained to talk. She turned back to prepare to handle other matters.

Because of the rainy season’s increased rainfall, many troubles in the Tribe needed handling.

“I hope Father can understand…” Yini furrowed her brow.
