I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 959, Relinquishing Leadership

Translator: Silavin

Within the dense primitive forest, a group of people were advancing hurriedly.

The person at the front was Ah Liv. That was right. This time, the young woman was the Team Leader.

Following behind were some Totem Warriors and Warrior Trainees, along with some slaves.

Each slave carried much dried meat and Animal Hide on their bodies. These were all items the Green Vine Tribe was delivering to the Flame Dragon Tribe as reparation.

“Everyone must hurry. We don’t have much time to waste. The faster we reach the Flame Dragon Tribe, the faster we can return to the Green Vine Tribe.”

Ah Liv’s expression was very unpleasant. Everyone’s pace was slow and leisurely, clearly not taking this matter seriously.

“Yes.” Those Totem Warriors all responded listlessly.

Ah Liv stopped her advancing steps, turned around to look at everyone. Her green eyes instantly reflected a serious gleam.

She naturally knew the reason everyone was absent-minded this time. It was due to nothing more than her being Team Leader.

After all, she had only awakened as a Totem Warrior this year. Her prestige was not yet that high. The reason she could become Team Leader this time was nothing more than being the Chieftain’s Daughter and having visited the Flame Dragon Tribe several times before.

Those people all wanted to become Team Leader. After all, as long as one became Team Leader, one would have excellent opportunities to lead several Warriors.

One must know that in the Primitive Age, as a Totem Warrior, as long as one could lead several Totem Warriors, even Warrior Trainees, it would be an extremely dignified matter.

Everyone in the entire Tribe would respect them greatly. Even the Chieftain would no longer regard them coldly, but would instead value them.

From this, one could see everyone wanted to become Team Leader. Moreover, among the Totem Warriors going out this time, some had awakened last year.

They had already awakened for two years and still had not managed to become a Team Leader. Yet a teenage young woman who had just awakened for less than a year became the Team Leader? No one would be convinced.

“What’s wrong, Team Leader? If we don’t continue advancing, we’ll probably delay our return time.” Lu Yin walked forward with a worried expression. “We must hurry. The rainy season will arrive soon.”

Lu Yin was a Totem Warrior who had awakened in the Green Vine Tribe this year, also a young woman, aged eighteen, and Ah Liv’s childhood friend.

Her head of purple long hair was very conspicuous. Her purple eyes were also very large. Her face was rather round, making her look adorable and cute, because she also was not very tall.

Warriors were generally very tall. Even females were close to 1.7 metres. But Lu Yin was only around 1.58 metres.

“Wait a moment. I must let them know the seriousness of this matter first.” Ah Liv said seriously.

She pulled Lu Yin aside with one motion, her body moving forward several steps. Her expression never relaxed.

“Team Leader, why did you suddenly stop?” A Totem Warrior asked impatiently.

Very obviously, he was a Totem Warrior who had awakened last year. Even calling her Team Leader was done very reluctantly.

‘Team Leader’ was directed at those newly appointed to lead. Generally, prestigious Team Leaders were called ‘Boss’.

“That’s right. Weren’t you constantly urging us? Why have you stopped instead now?” Another Warrior also spoke sarcastically.

Ah Liv directly found a protruding tree root to sit on, asking in return. “Don’t you know in your hearts why I stopped? Are you all that unconvinced?”

She did not want to continue remaining silent. If she continued being silent, it would only cause matters to become increasingly serious.

“Forget it. Better to have one less problem. We must hurry and exchange for our people back, otherwise when the rainy season arrives, things will be difficult for us.” Lu Yin immediately tried to persuade her.

She did not want everyone arguing at this critical juncture, otherwise it would delay much more time.

“No. This matter must be resolved now. This matter can’t be allowed to continue fermenting.” Ah Liv signalled for the other party to step back first, then asked seriously. “So what are you all thinking now? If you’re unconvinced, you can completely take over me in leading the team.”

After the young woman finished speaking, her face was no longer serious. In any case, this mission was to apologise to the Flame Dragon Tribe.

As long as they could smoothly reach the Flame Dragon Tribe, whether she could continue being the Team Leader did not matter.

In any case, Ah Liv did not care much about these things. If it were not because she wanted to quickly reach the Flame Dragon Tribe, she would not have taken on the position of Team Leader.

Because she also clearly knew she was merely a newly awakened Totem Warrior. She was indeed somewhat underqualified to be a Team Leader.

“Are you serious? Are you really willing to give up leadership?” Zhi Wu asked excitedly in return.

He was one of the Totem Warriors who had awakened last year. His strength was also acceptable. However, among all the Totem Warriors, he was rather mediocre.

However, compared to Ah Liv, he was certainly more qualified to be the Team Leader.

Of course, this was only limited to comparison with newcomers. Compared to veteran Totem Warriors, he still was not qualified enough.

“Of course. From now on, you are the Team Leader. Whether good or bad, you must bear the results.” Ah Liv instantly became serious again.

As the Team Leader, one naturally had to ensure the safety of the entire team. If things went smoothly, one would naturally receive commendation. But conversely, one would also receive corresponding punishment.

Ah Liv now wanted to make things clear with the other party, lest some problem occurred later and the other party started shirking responsibility.

Of course, if the other party successfully led this team back and forth between the two Tribes, she also would not compete for this credit.

“No problem. Whether good or bad, I’ll accept it. Of course, if I successfully complete this mission in the end, you mustn’t compete for my credit.” Zhi Wu instructed.

He too desperately wanted to stand out, no longer wanting to remain mediocre in the Green Vine Tribe. This was the best opportunity, so he absolutely had to grasp it well.

“That’s settled then. From now on, you lead the team. I’ll retreat to the back of the formation.” Ah Liv stood up and patted the dust off her rear.

Lu Yin tugged at the other party’s hem, asking weakly. “Ah Liv, is this really alright? This is your team. If the Chieftain finds out, won’t he scold you?”

“The Tribe already had such a major incident occur. Father doesn’t have time to scold me. Even if he wants to scold me, it will be after everything has settled down.” Ah Liv shrugged her shoulders, continuing. “Moreover, you can also testify for me. There are so many people here. Everyone was unconvinced by me, which is why I relinquished leadership. Father probably won’t say anything either.”

Ah Liv was quite open-minded. As long as everyone could hurry along, whether she was Team Leader or not did not matter.

“Alright then. As long as you’re not unhappy, that’s fine. Let’s hurry. Otherwise, we really won’t make it back to the Tribe before the rainy season arrives.” Lu Yin pursed her lips.

“You’re overthinking it.” Ah Liv smiled.

*Thud thud thud…*

The team reorganised and set out. This time, the advance speed was obviously much faster.
