Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 1139: Chapter 1124: Compatible Abilities

”Olga, it’s strange. Are all of you free lately? Shaina just returned not long ago, Ulti and Page One came back the day before yesterday, and almost half of the high-level officials have no tasks.”

”Oh, you haven’t been checking the intelligence recently, have you? It’s all thanks to the Navy. They’ve been highly motivated lately, and our territory has been quite peaceful.”

”The Navy? What have they done?”

Yamato indeed hadn’t reviewed relevant intelligence in recent times. She only crammed mission-related information before heading out.

Lately, she’s been in her slacking-off period, so she hasn’t paid attention to matters outside of Wano Kuni.

”Didn’t the Navy swap the positions of the Navy Headquarters and the G-1 Branch recently? A large portion of the pirates that just entered the New World haven’t even set sail again before being sent back to Impel Down.”

After surviving in the New World for a while, aside from a few troublemakers, most people choose not to challenge the Sea Emperors.

Even if they aren’t recruited, they’ve experienced firsthand the power of the monsters of The Sea. Unwilling to become someone’s underling, they strive to survive in the cracks.

The ever-changing climate of the New World provides them opportunities, and dangerous sea areas and climates mean some islands aren’t included in the Sea Emperors’ territory, giving them space to survive.

Ninety percent of those who dare to cause trouble are newcomers just entering the New World.

There’s a chasm between the Four Seas and the First Half of the Grand Line.

In the Four Seas, as long as you have a ruthless enough heart, a certain number of weapons and manpower, you can dominate a region.

After all, weapons are relatively backward in the Four Seas, and ability users are quite rare.

Upon reaching the Grand Line, such people will be the first to be weeded out; you need either strength or luck, otherwise, you can’t reach the Shampodi Islands at all.

When reaching the New World, the gap upgrades once again.

Ability users are countless here, aside from quirky abilities, Haki is a more widespread technique, and Logia-type abilities that were nearly invincible on the First Half of the Grand Line are merely excellent abilities in the New World.

The cognitive gap leads newcomers to be unaware of the disparity between themselves and truly strong people, holding various ambitions and dreams, they often rush into the Sea Emperor’s domain.

Usually, the officials spend most of their time eliminating these troublemakers, occasionally a few capable troublemakers appear, which requires sending higher-level officials.

Pirates just choose to protect their territory, but the Navy is different; they have the capability to strike against pirates across entire sea areas.

With the new marshal taking office, Akainu’s new fire hasn’t burned out, and after the headquarters moved into the New World, Akainu hasn’t blindly declared war on those Sea Emperors.

He detests pirates, but he isn’t thoughtless; such actions aren’t appropriate. So recently, the Navy has increased their offensive against newbie pirates who just arrived at the Shampodi Islands.

The number of troublemakers was reduced from the source, naturally decreasing the workload of the Hundred Beasts officials.

”It would be best if they take more action and attract that darned old father over. I didn’t expect my Ice Substitute plan to fail; I need to think of a new strategy.”

”Ice Substitute?”

”Nothing, don’t mind such details. You go ahead and have your lunch; I’m off.”

With that, she skillfully flipped over the railing and headed towards Ghost Island amidst the casual glances from passersby, and it wasn’t long after Yamato left that a Blissey carrying a lunch box arrived at the top floor.

Finding Yamato no longer there, it shook its body slightly in resignation. It intended to shake its head, but due to its peculiar body structure, even a vampire would be puzzled about where Blissey’s neck is.

”Happy~”

Blissey greeted a nearby flying Corvisquire before handing the lunch box to the Corvisquire, then headed towards the other wards.

...

Meanwhile, Nightin, having just returned to Ghost Island with Olga, entered Arceus’s office where Asie had been waiting.

”Lord Arceus... um... I’m back again...”

The days of submitting her resignation were still vivid, yet she found herself back on Ghost Island. After Olga’s persuasion, she decided to join the Hundred Beasts, and only needed approval from Arceus or Kaidou to become an official member.

Ordinary newcomers require evaluation, but Nightin has been working for decades, so the evaluation period has long passed. What was lacking was her personal willingness.

Now that Wald has already faded away, his final madness has also changed Nightin’s thoughts, making her plan a new future.

”Olga has already reported everything, and this isn’t your first visit to Ghost Island. This matter is approved, and here’s another issue.”

”Asie, you’ve done well; the materials you researched have been effective.

Now, I need to confirm something; are you truly going to transfer this opportunity to someone else?”

”I’m certain, Lord Arceus, I’m not good at fighting. Taking the ability you grant would be a waste; it’s better to give the ability to Nightin, she’s more suitable.”

”Hold on, your efforts deserve your own reward. This gift is too precious; I can’t accept it!”

Listening to Arceus and Asie’s conversation, Nightin had understood what Asie intended, but this was something gained through Asie’s own research results, and she doesn’t want to accept it just like that.

”It’s fine; you know I’m just a sturdy ordinary person. I might not even step out a few times a year, giving me the ability would be wasteful.

You frequently visit Ancient Island to gather medicinal herbs; having this ability would be good for self-defense. And it was always mentioned to gift you something, though nothing suitable had been found - now’s the perfect time.”

”Alright, I don’t wish to intervene in your personal feelings, but don’t bother pushing here.

As long as there are achievements, the rewards for you both won’t be lacking. The reward is Asie’s; he has the right to decide.”

Arceus’s words concluded their refusal, also confirming Nightin as the recipient of this ability.

”There just happens to be an ideal ability here; combined with your Chinese Herbal Fist technique, it should yield a good effect.”

Arceus’s ability granting is a scene that, regardless of how many times witnessed, still strikes awe. With the conclusion of the ability granting, Nightin began to test the new ability, with her form starting to transform into that of a kangaroo.

Breloom, a Grass + Fighting-type mushroom-like Pokemon; its overall image resembles a kangaroo, like a creature evolved from a mushroom, and the mushroom-like object atop its head forms cap-like decor.

Nightin, who herself studies herbs and incorporates them into her body techniques, matches quite inexplicably with Breloom in terms of attributes. However, what suits her best is not anything else, but Breloom’s trait - Poison Heal.
