Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 617: Chapter 616: Cyclizar-Transformed Patrol Corps, ”Balancing Kindness and Severity

To outsiders, the casino seems to have countless uncertainties. There’s always someone dreaming of getting rich overnight, but that’s simply not possible. The random odds perceived by outsiders don’t exist for the organizers; everything is under control.

The physique of the Cyclizar is larger than its original form to suit the human physique of this world. Otherwise, with its original size, Cyclizar would only be suitable for ten-year-old children to ride.

However, those little giants still don’t qualify to participate; their body size has nothing to do with the competition. The expanded size mainly allows ”normal” people, about three meters tall, to take part.

Participants compete for prizes, and spectators place bets guessing the winner. Only enough uncertainty can make those people dare to bet on the competition.

The Hundred Beasts can’t control all the riders, but these Cyclizar can all understand commands.

”Teach them how to fix matches before we start operations. Losing too obviously just isn’t interesting.”

Then, Arceus looked out the window. After the appearance of Cyclizar, Yamato became deeply interested in this transformative Pokemon. Although not as flashy as a Mecha, it has its own cool traits.

Right now, she is speeding along the coast of Ghost Island like a biker gang member, exhibiting some delinquent flair.

”Yes, I understand. You don’t need to worry about this.”

”Train a group of professional riders from trustworthy people and pair them with designated Cyclizar to serve as patrol guards for Grand Tesoro in the future. Don’t underestimate them; these little creatures also have combat power. They are Dragons, after all.”

Cyclizar, a riding Pokemon, with Dragon and normal attributes, may look like an ordinary lizard, but it flows with Dragon blood inside. Coupled with its unique transformation ability, they can form a special motorcycle unit to accelerate the construction of a ”semi-mechanized” troop.

Like the Thousand-Year Dragon’s Air Cavalry, they become a very special unit within the Hundred Beasts.

It’s just that Thousand-Year Dragon’s Air Cavalry can fly, so they have no trouble operating over The Sea. Cyclizar can swim but mainly moves on land, facing many restrictions over The Sea.

Grand Tesoro, as a seaborne metropolis, provides them with space for activity, and seemingly friendly Cyclizar can also transform into fierce, protective mounts.

High mobility provides more security for Grand Tesoro.

”I’ll go back and pick suitable personnel; there are still many such people in the pirate crew.”

The members partnered with the Pokemon are veterans of the Hundred Beasts, so under these circumstances, they would certainly prefer their own people, such as older pirates transitioning from the frontline to secondary duties.

In a pirate crew of tens of thousands, only the officers are wanted; once they change locations, no one knows who they are.

”One last thing, are the related personnel almost ready?”

”Basically ready, just missing the final test. Do you have any other arrangements?”

”Arrange a package for Yamato so she understands what it means to lose at every gamble.”

Gambling is very popular among pirates. In the Hundred Beasts, except for Kaidou being a drunkard, none of the high-level officials like gambling. Although they have quirky personalities, none of them are into gambling, drugs, or substance abuse, not even those who love alcohol.

Queen’s weaponized poisons are clearly different from those mentioned above.

Yamato’s childhood is long gone, and in her adolescence, she is exposed to a wider variety of things. To prevent her from suffering later, Arceus decided to let her learn a lesson under Tesoro.

”I understand your intention, rest assured, Miss Yamato cannot win.”

...

Tesoro left Ghost Island with various strange creatures and started recruiting retired members of the Hundred Beasts within Wano Kuni, intending to train a group of Cyclizar Rangers.

Yamato did not keep the Cyclizar. Compared to the flying mode of Genosect, Cyclizar’s transformation is much inferior, and it can’t fly either.

Having Genosect, she’s not very interested in this. At the moment, she is asking others if they want to attend the opening ceremony with her, but she’s not getting much response.

”None of you want to go?!”

”Since Mr. Kaidou won’t go, I’ll stay on Ghost Island.”

Maria adjusted the strings of a large Shamisen and declined Yamato, while Jack’s reason was more straightforward.

”I have to train; I’m not interested in that entertainment ship. It seems that more pirates are challenging us lately, and I need to show them what terror is.”

”Really, are you all so boring? Little Pei, Ulti, are you going?”

”I’ll go if Little Pei goes. It looks like it might be fun.”

Over time, they became more familiar. Ulti no longer refutes others calling Page One ”Little Pei.” They’re all familiar, and arguing doesn’t help, so she accepts it.

”I want to go; I want to try that competition.”

Page One held a promotional poster from Tesoro, fanning with words about a fishing competition.

Besides the three, Zeraora and Setsuna also planned to take the kids on a trip there. However, there’s another special person added to the Hundred Beasts’ travel list—Kozuki Hiyori.

”King, are you serious?”

Shaina faced King with some incomprehension. He had full authority over Kozuki Hiyori, so listing her name meant he thought it was feasible.

”You should know she’s just a puppet.”

”I know, but that’s our territory. I don’t think she’ll have any chance with both me and Zeraora present. Besides, we’ve given her enough deterrence, and she’s been quite cooperative over these years. You understand the principle of combining grace with power; keeping her confined there isn’t in our highest interest.”

The puppet’s attitude doesn’t matter much, but a cooperative puppet is much more useful than one with a rebellious mind. That’s the judgment King arrived at by actually controlling the Flower Capital over the years; he believes that offering appropriate benefits is advantageous for the future.

”But...”

”Let Lord Arceus make the decision. If he agrees, there’s no need for you to worry.”

”True, wait a moment.”

King seeking out Arceus directly isn’t an issue, but it’s a fixed procedure. Usually, if it’s not a big deal, Shaina, as the secretary, would relay such matters.

Ultimately, Arceus did not veto this proposal. As King said, giving appropriate benefits is not a problem, and the personnel on the list are strong enough to handle special situations.

King and Zeraora, with their normal disaster-level power, plus Setsuna with burst-mode disaster power, barring the scale of an Admiral, nothing is likely to go wrong.
