Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 540: Chapter 539: A Turbulent World

At the same time, there’s another reason for his actions: Kaidou or Whitebeard, he doesn’t want to offend them too much. The big news goal has already been achieved, so there’s no need to draw a definitive conclusion.

Compared to pirates, he’d rather offend the Navy or the World Government.

They need to follow a certain procedure; some news, even if piercing into their old secrets, as long as the public reaction is strong enough, he’ll be safe.

But pirates are different. If you really piss them off, they can act without regard to rules, and public opinion can’t restrain them; they might just chop you down without hesitation.

Some people hate Kaidou and Whitebeard so much they wish they would vanish from the world, while others are their ardent fans. If he draws a conclusion now, he might get blocked the next day.

An open-ended conclusion is different. Let those two groups argue it out; if they want enough information, they need to come and buy his new issue, indirectly boosting his newspaper’s sales.

After finalizing the newspaper’s layout, Morgans managed to relax his nerves a bit.

”I’m going to rest for a while. Tell me the news at this time tomorrow.”

He entered the newsroom’s lounge. Because they often had to change the layout at night, all branches of the World Economic News Agency had such lounges; staying up late had become routine for them.

A few hours later, the News Birds took flight with newspapers from various stations, finally delivering the results of this great battle.

”The world is changing...”

In the human auction house on the Shampodi Islands, a person wearing an explosive collar looked at the newspaper in his hand with a slight sigh. It was originally placed here by a guard, so he casually picked it up to have a look.

The newspaper photo at that time was one Morgans took when the sky collapsed; the falling clouds seemed to form a stairway to the heavens for the new era’s strong people.

”Roger, is this the era you wanted to see...”

This peculiar ”slave” was none other than Rayleigh. Others were auctioned here because they were kidnapped; he, however, was there because he lacked pocket money and sold himself here.

The cost of living in Shampodi wasn’t low, and he didn’t save much treasure after retiring. The salary for coating wasn’t enough, so every once in a while, he’d sell himself and then rob whoever bought him.

He knew the young Kaidou and Whitebeard’s level. It was somewhat unbelievable that Kaidou could go toe-to-toe with Whitebeard.

”Hey! Who allowed you to mess with my stuff!”

The guard who had left returned, unhappy to see Rayleigh take his newspaper and lifted his whip to strike.

But in the next moment, he rolled his eyes and fainted, and the collar on his neck was removed by Rayleigh and placed on his neck.

”Sorry, I’ve suddenly decided I don’t want to be sold.”

.....

On Nine Serpent Island, thanks to their relationship with the Hundred Beasts, the News Bird purposely made a trip here, making Amazon Lily’s external communications much smoother.

”Elder Nyon, look, Sir Kaidou actually defeated that Whitebeard. Why don’t we just move Nine Serpent Island there? Such a powerful pirate could better protect us.”

Even though the plan to move the island was temporarily put on hold, Hancock hadn’t given up on the idea. She brought it up again now.

Of course, Gloriosa strongly opposed it. The current situation was the best for the Nine Serpent Island; the Navy wouldn’t attack them, and the pirates in the first half weren’t their opponents. She certainly didn’t want to rashly change the status quo.

”Hancock, the newspaper only mentioned a great war, not a victory, and the World Government is after all...”

But amidst her string of lectures, Hancock’s expression grew increasingly impatient, and eventually, she grabbed Gloriosa by the collar and threw her out.

...

In the West Sea, a plump figure tightly grasped the newspaper in his hand, finally tearing it apart in rage.

”Kaidou... Kaidou... just you wait, I’ll kill you with the strongest undead zombie!”

This was Moriah, who had accepted the Seven Warlords of the Sea invitation but was still in the West Sea scavenging corpses. Witnessing Kaidou’s growing strength, his emotions were extremely complicated, and he faced a new problem.

His zombies required corpses to manifest, and the stronger the body and shadow, the stronger the zombie he could create. However, powerful corpses mostly appeared on battlefields, and these corpses were often damaged.

To make these corpses functional, they required an exceptional surgeon, so he began searching for more suitable subordinates.

...

In the East Sea, at the Terminal of Uncertainty, Sabo and Ace found a newspaper wrapping the food of the residents.

”Kaidou of the Beasts and Whitebeard, Edward Newgate, battled for five days and nights. The island was destroyed, and the resulting tsunami affected several nearby islands...”

This time, Morgans didn’t even use exaggerated language. Excess takes away, but the real impact of Kaidou and Whitebeard’s battle was already shocking enough, and fictionalizing it would affect its impact negatively.

”Ace, are these the kinds of opponents we’ll face in the future...”

”What’s there to fear? Sooner or later, we’ll become stronger than them. Whether it’s Whitebeard or the Beasts, we’re bound to defeat them!”

Then the two encouraged each other and continued working hard to save money for their pirate ship.

...

In the New World, aboard the Moby Dick, although Morgans didn’t offer a definitive comment, the report left them rather unsatisfied, and many, after roughly glancing, angrily discarded the newspaper.

”Teach! Stop reading that trash, we’re almost there. This time we’ll make them understand the power of the Whitebeard Pirates!”

”Oh, coming right away.”

The seemingly simple man put down the newspaper in his hand, though deep inside, his plan underwent a certain change.

”Old man... you’ve grown old, huh...”

”Teach!”

”Coming, coming!”

...

Aboard the Hundred Beasts King, strange things were also happening. Although they had not yet returned to Ghost Island, their celebration had already begun.

Yamato, holding a jar of strong wine, approached Kaidou and, like the others, toasted him.

”Father, you’re amazing.”

”Wugorogoro, of course. Yamato, you also need to keep working hard, for this is your goal. Work even harder on your training when we return!”

Hearing this, Yamato stumbled in her steps, then thought it over, and directly picked up a nearby wine barrel.

Kaidou’s state was entirely different from the ten days or half a month’s recuperation she hoped for. Given this, she could only settle for the next best thing and wished Kaidou would drink more and get drunk for half a month.
