Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 509: Chapter 508: Steel Muscles - Scizor

Whether it is the granting of abilities or the transformation of fruits, these are things that ordinary members can only dream of. Shaina took the remaining fruit and a manual to the training ground, where a figure could still be seen training diligently.

It was Iscariot, who had just turned 12 not long ago, and her training method was quite special. Although it was just an ordinary obstacle race, the obstacles included unique elements like fire rings.

If someone didn’t know, they might think this was a beast training ground. In fact, Iscariot was trying to overcome her own fear. Since she came here, she had a fear of fire.

Whenever she saw scenes with lots of flames, that fiery night would come to mind—the night she lost everything. She couldn’t help but fall into fear when she remembered it.

Facing fear directly is one way to overcome it, but sometimes, fear isn’t so easily conquered.

Shaina watched as Iscariot slipped due to exhaustion and fear. In the next moment, her face might have been burned by the fire, but Shaina didn’t move. Just before Iscariot got burned, a tail swept past.

Human bodies fear ordinary flames, but Pokemon do not.

”If you’re afraid of fire, stay away from it! Why do this kind of training?!”

Ulti’s unfriendly voice came from the side. In terms of age, Iscariot was three years older than her, but now that couldn’t be seen at all.

”I don’t have the kind of talent you guys have. All I can do is work hard...this time it was an accident...”

After so much training to overcome her fear, she wasn’t unable to walk when she saw fire, but after exhausting her energy, that strange feeling resurfaced.

”Suit yourself, Page, let’s go!”

She was just passing by, but from Iscariot’s footsteps, she could see the signs of trouble. Kaidou’s training wasn’t for nothing.

Apart from being life-consuming, the improvements it brought were real too, and she saw Shaina there, so she decided to play with Page One.

On the way out, Page One questioned Ulti.

”Sister, don’t you care about her a lot? Why not explain to her properly?”

”I don’t care about her at all. Even if she really gets burned, it has nothing to do with me.”

Apart from her stubbornness and liking to tease Page One, Ulti was alright in other aspects. For example, she always thought Kaidou was an idiot, but wanted him to become the new Pirate King. However, her stubbornness was beyond help.

If Shaina had been harsher, maybe it could have been corrected, but after Shaina changed Ulti’s attitude towards Arceus, she wasn’t too concerned about other things.

If it weren’t for Ulti really having matters at hand, Page One might not have put up with it long ago. Although now he prefers to be alone quietly.

Elsewhere, Shaina picked up the fallen fire ring. The burned iron ring had no effect on her; her skin could completely endure such high-temperature burns.

”Iscariot, it’s good to work hard, but you also have to pay attention to your own safety.”

”I...”

”I’m not blaming you. This is something I got from the Divine Beast Lord. Human talents have limits, ordinary people can’t change that, but we are different.”

She placed the fruit into Iscariot’s hand, with a meaning that was self-evident.

”What is it? Your goal is to gain more power, and there’s nothing wrong with a little external help. Most people here are ability users; with this, you can better achieve your goals too.”

...

The fruit had disappeared, leaving only Iscariot’s retching sound in the empty training ground. The Devil Fruit that removes weaknesses was only enjoyed by Yamato.

At this moment, Iscariot couldn’t find the right words to describe the strange taste, but the transformation was apparent. Within minutes, Iscariot’s appearance underwent a dramatic change.

The back of her clothes began to bulge, and then a pair of bright red exoskeletons burst out, followed by two pairs of transparent insect wings. The exoskeleton was clearly meant to protect the wings.

However, compared to a normal exoskeleton, Iscariot’s structure seemed more like steel. The transformation continued as the crimson armor gradually enveloped her body.

Bug Type Pokémon - Scizor.

The inherent attribute is strong, similar to Iscariot’s current development path, both focused on quick assault. But in a way, it was an odd fit with Iscariot: one fears fire due to attributes, while the other resists fire internally.

”Do you feel it? This is the power of the Divine Beast Lord. Only he can grant people the power of mythical creatures according to his mood in this world, vastly different from ordinary mantises.”

Shaina patted Iscariot on the shoulder, and Iscariot felt the changes in her body. Compared to before, her strength and physical fitness had undergone a qualitative change.

Scizor possesses a body as hard as steel. This hardness isn’t just its outer exoskeleton; even its muscles are composed of special metals.

This metallic muscle grants Scizor an unparalleled burst of power and strong defense, making general attacks ineffective.

This steel muscle is also the reason for its slender body but astonishing attack power.

Compared to Charlotte Linlin, known as the Steel Balloon, Scizor is truly a Steel Body, although in terms of strength, Charlotte Linlin is still stronger. Her ”steel” was merely a metaphor.

At this point, Iscariot’s hands had turned into two large pincers, the most powerful weapon of Scizor, capable of crushing most things caught in its steel-evolved claws.

These pincers account for one-third of her body weight, which is also the reason for its incredible power, and due to this weight, Scizor can choose to smash instead of just pinching.

The patterns on the claws are its protective coloring. During high-speed movement, these pincers can mislead enemies, thereby better protecting its head.

Clang, clang. The collision of pincers produced a crisp metallic sound. Looking at the two pairs of wings behind her, Iscariot flapped them, trying to fly, but to no avail.

”No need to try. Your ability is called Scizor, and its wings aren’t meant for that.”

From the note left by Arceus, Shaina learned about some of Scizor’s characteristics.

In a way, Scizor shares a destiny with Groudon. Although Scizor has two pairs of wings, it cannot fly because the wings can’t lift its metallic body.

For Scizor, these wings aren’t tools for flying but radiators.
