Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 537: Chapter 536: You Want Me to Risk My Life on a Vice Admiral’s Salary?

”I know, I’ll get there as soon as possible.”

While replying to Sengoku, Garp dealt with the trouble in front of him. The gifts left by Whitebeard and Kaidou before they left were quite substantial, be it the raging sea or the meteors in the sky.

He wasn’t afraid of these, but the soldiers on board couldn’t handle it. If he were to leave now, these soldiers would have no time to prepare, and in such an environment, they wouldn’t even be able to send off a message in a bottle containing their last words.

Even if he wanted to support others, he had to wait until he could free himself.

”As soon as possible... You don’t need to worry about Borsalino anymore, go support Sakazuki.”

Sengoku’s voice disappeared for a while, and Garp seemed to hear him receiving other orders.

”Anything new?”

”Not much, but Borsalino did run into some trouble, though he’s already retreated now.”

”Got it, leave the rest to me.”

”The main task is to bring them back intact, Garp, this is an order from the World Government, don’t do anything unnecessary.”

Sengoku then hung up, and Garp’s adjutant began directing the fleet to prepare to change course. The tsunami hadn’t ended yet, and turning suddenly could very likely capsize the ship.

Meanwhile, in another direction, the ships led by Borsalino had already retreated to a safe location. Besides Borsalino, who seemed to have been through a battle, the others were fine, thanks to Lapras.

To deal with the tsunamis following the aftershocks, Arceus specially prepared Lapras. Lapras’ method of countering the tsunami was to freeze the massive waves, while Kaidou and Whitebeard fought for five days and nights.

During this period, it was one tsunami after another.

In the face of the continuous tsunamis, the waves frozen in advance naturally became large chunks of floating ice. But by the time Borsalino was forced to act, the path for regular ships leading to the Hundred Beasts ships was gone.

This area wasn’t some polar sea, and the Navy hadn’t dispatched an icebreaker.

So Borsalino chose to scout the situation on his own first. Though he sometimes seemed like an actor, his rank of Admiral from the original timeline was genuine.

He didn’t get in through a global recruitment drive, but climbed up step by step from the Navy’s internal training camp.

Besides his monstrous strength, he also had military merits recognized within the Navy, and though his sense of justice was ambiguous, it didn’t mean he did nothing but slack off.

As a flying Logia-type ability user, he naturally had the advantage in naval battles, so he went alone to scout the situation.

The pirate on Lapras’ back soon noticed the light in the sky. Not all Logia-type users could fly; some could transform into their element to achieve flight.

As a Glint-Glint Fruit user, Borsalino found it very difficult to hide his form while moving at high speeds.

”Big sis, looks like there’s a formidable guy coming!”

The Navy studies pirates, and pirates also study the Navy. Just like how these High-Level Officials under the Sea Emperors are known by name in the Navy, these rising Navy commanders also have high notoriety among the pirates in the New World.

Assessing the strength of one’s enemy is also crucial. Jack was the same; when he saw the faces of those on the escort ship, his eyes instantly changed.

”Headquarter Vice Admiral Borsalino... a troublesome guy is here, Olga, support me, this guy’s not easy to deal with.”

Though King and Zeraora went with Kaidou to the battleground to fight Whitebeard, Shaina and Olga remained guarding the ship. Kaidou had brought several officials back then just in case, and now they were indeed needed.

As soon as she spoke, Shaina had already flapped her wings and taken off, with Olga following closely behind, standing on Elizabeth’s back.

The aftershocks from Kaidou and Whitebeard’s battle caused not just tsunamis, but also strong winds, and in such windy weather, Inteleon’s inability to fly on its own was actually mitigated.

Taking advantage of these air currents, Elizabeth could actually glide freely through the sky. Simultaneously, the call about the attack here was made to King.

”Just one person... really troublesome...”

Seeing no other Navy personnel around, Olga also began to feel this situation is not easy to handle. Her ability in 1v1 was far less powerful than in 1vN. Facing an enemy of this level, her illusionary ability would have minimal effect.

Moreover, rather than creating illusions out of thin air, she preferred adding illusions to existing objects, as those illusions were more realistic and had fewer flaws.

Still, she used illusions to conceal the presence of the ship and Lapras below. Though it was impossible to completely hide from the opponent’s perception this way, as long as Borsalino’s attention wasn’t on that side, it was relatively safe.

”Illusory Calamity, Flame Blood, the Hundred Beasts have really sent a lot of people this time, it’s frightening.”

Though he said so, he was already gathering a large amount of light in his hands. But before he could attack, a chilling aura suddenly emanated from below.

This aura didn’t affect him much but the subsequent changes caught his attention.

”Is this... an aurora?”

The sky was filled with colorful curtains, like auroras waving among the clouds. In his years with the Navy, he’d seen many bizarre abilities; this anomaly didn’t make him stop. A laser beam shot towards Shaina’s direction.

Just as the laser beam was about to hit, Borsalino noticed something unusual. As soon as the attack was released, the laser he emitted was weakened by the surrounding auroras. By the time it exploded near Shaina, its power was abnormal.

Before he could think more, a crimson chain came lashing at him. The speed from the Glint-Glint Fruit allowed him to dodge it, but his expression now lacked the previous disdain.

His body didn’t feel any discomfort; yet, the attacks were weakened. That was the ability of Gigantamax Lapras, the G-Max Resonance.

The freezing cold could cause some damage, but the main effect of this ability was to create an aurora-like environment. In this environment, all physical or special attacks would be weakened by the auroras in the sky.

The degree of weakening depended on the number of allies and the strength of the enemy. However, because Borsalino’s attacks also belonged to ”light,” he was affected much more than others under the aurora-like weather.
