Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 539: Chapter 538: Change of an Era

The flames on the Moby Dick had been extinguished, and the ship’s doctor was treating Whitebeard’s wounds. Marco and Namur, who had witnessed the entire battle, wore heavy expressions.

In theory, the battle between Whitebeard and Kaidou ended in a draw. They didn’t truly conclude a result, but for Marco, who had followed Whitebeard for a long time, this was almost akin to a loss.

The last person to tie with Whitebeard was Gol D. Roger.

As a participant in the battle, Whitebeard’s complexion was even grimmer. It was not only due to the casualties among his pirate crew but also because of Kaidou’s strength. He wasn’t afraid of the current Kaidou, but the way he recovered his stamina was alarming.

No matter how strong the boss is, they can’t defeat a monster that does sit-ups. That’s the situation Whitebeard faced.

”Old man, what about Wano Kuni...”

”Without my orders, no one is to act rashly. Kaidou is not someone you can handle. With that kind of strength, Oden indeed isn’t his match. We can’t afford such casualties.”

Kaidou achieved such abilities by consuming some kind of medicine. Since he has it, the other members of the Hundred Beasts might have it too. If those executives have such abilities, the current Hundred Beasts Pirates are simply beyond what other pirate crews can handle.

”Marco, do you remember those drugs from the Hundred Beasts you got before?”

”I remember, what’s up, old man?”

Due to his Phoenix abilities, Marco, while serving as the captain of the first division, also doubles as the ship’s doctor. Some issues related to medications fall under his responsibility. He discovered the effects of that health supplement by chance.

”Get more of those drugs. There might be something miraculous in them. Once we figure out what it is, we can decide on the future steps.”

Now, the relationship between him and the Hundred Beasts Pirates was undoubtedly hostile, but he didn’t reject everything related to the other side just because of this animosity.

He had already experienced the effects of those drugs from the Hundred Beasts. His intuition told him that Kaidou’s method of recovering stamina was surely connected to those drugs. If he could figure this out, many problems would be solved.

”Alright, old man, I understand.”

However, just as he finished speaking, the phone on the ship rang, and the person who picked up the call looked visibly displeased.

”Old man! It’s a call from our territory. The BIG MOM Pirates are attacking some of our islands!”

”....”

This had a bit to do with Kaidou. Although his earlier communication with Charlotte Linlin had been unpleasant, the relationship between them was relatively friendly. After the battle, he had called Charlotte Linlin as if to boast about how satisfying the fight was, or something like that.

The gist was that he enjoyed the battle immensely. Charlotte Linlin had already prepared her crew beforehand. Her plan was to take action against whoever lost. If Kaidou lost, she would have unhesitatingly taken over everything Kaidou had.

She had been eyeing the fruits and such products from Kaidou’s territories for a long time. As well as issues about Pokemon like Alcremie, due to some collaborations between the parties, most chefs on Cake Island were already aware of Alcremie’s existence.

Alcremie was a dream-like partner for all pastry chefs, but Arceus had a strict prohibition against allowing any Alcremie into Charlotte Linlin’s territory. It was a non-negotiable topic, the same applied to Bounsweet as well.

Once Charlotte Linlin’s Anorexia Nervosa acted up, she showed no regard for anyone. Compared to her, Kaidou’s emotional instability after drinking was at least random.

If luck was on your side, you might even encounter a particularly jovial Kaidou post-drinking, but whenever Charlotte Linlin’s condition flared up, it only brought disaster.

In these circumstances, Charlotte Linlin did harbor some resentment. The past camaraderie meant nothing once Kaidou was defeated.

But judging by Kaidou’s tone, he was clearly quite successful. Although Charlotte Linlin is a woman, she also has her own resolve. If the situation wasn’t immediately clarified, it might’ve been too late, so she directly ordered the BIG MOM Pirates to start attacking Whitebeard’s territories.

”Set sail! I’m Whitebeard, I’m not dead yet!”

This news infuriated Whitebeard. Although he had fought a great battle, he had not yet been gravely weakened. Based on the estimated distance, by the time the Moby Dick approached, he would have roughly recovered his combat strength. Naturally, he couldn’t tolerate this after hearing the news.

While Whitebeard stormed towards his territories in a fit of rage, the Hundred Beasts Pirates excitedly returned to Ghost Island.

Whatever results Whitebeard and Charlotte Linlin had didn’t concern them. What they needed to do now was celebrate their victory.

After a few hours of rest, Morgans awakened. Kaidou then left him on an island and departed on his own.

Anytime something involves a big news story, Morgans always displays a tenacity beyond ordinary people.

Despite being physically exhausted, after a brief rest, his exhilarating spirit made it impossible for him to continue resting.

Timeliness is the most crucial aspect of news. If such major news isn’t released immediately and others beat them to it, he’d regret it for a lifetime.

Even the Navy’s intelligence department wouldn’t surpass him in this matter, though admittedly, the Navy wouldn’t openly broadcast such news.

The World Economic News Agency was widely distributed. Most countries and islands had their branches, even in the New World. As long as a country was open to the outside, even in Non-Adhering Countries, if the environment was stable, one could find a division of the World Economic News Agency.

Morgans found such a branch on this island and subsequently began contacting the news agency’s headquarters.

”Chief? Finally, we heard from you! We thought you were captured and executed by the World Government.”

”Didn’t I tell you, I’m off to get some big news. Tell the staff they have to work overtime again. Check the fax now; I’ve sent the photos back. I want to see the new headline in tonight’s paper.”

He didn’t mind what his subordinate said. Overall, the atmosphere at the news agency was quite jovial.

The journalists at the news agency got busy again, and the photos that Morgans sent back provided quite shocking news to them.

The sky split open, islands were destroyed, tsunamis surged–those were mighty natural disasters beyond human resistance, ironically created by two humans, two infamous Great Pirates.

Kaidou and Whitebeard didn’t conclusively determine a winner, so Morgans didn’t explicitly declare a result in the paper but instead left an open-ended topic under the title of an era shifting.

Controversies lead to debates; only when people argue can more buzz be generated. Besides captivating news, he had long understood how to attract more people’s attention.
