Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 309: Chapter 308: Enchanted Weapons and Post-Battle Physical Exam

If Kojiro’s father had found an excellent Sword Master to guide them before, they would naturally have discovered the flaw in the technique. But he didn’t, so this family-inherited move remained a secret in Kojiro’s family.

However, by practicing blindly, they never understood the trick, naturally unable to master it.

So Kojiro made a different decision. During his training, he showed the record to King, but even King couldn’t comprehend it. Being battle-hardened, he could see that this move seemed to have its own mystery, and thus it reached Kaidou.

At Kaidou’s level, even though his weapon was a Wolf Fang Club, he could discern a bit about swordsmanship. As a reward for Kojiro’s submission, Kaidou personally guided him once.

However, Kaidou only helped them overcome the training issues. This move demands very high physical fitness, which Kojiro currently lacks. Moreover, physical training is not something that can be completed overnight, which is why he asked Nightin for some secret medicine.

In fact, the enhancer in Queen’s hand works even better, but Kojiro still chose Nightin’s. Queen’s enhancer, even he admits to not knowing what side effects it may have, making it too risky. In comparison, Nightin’s herbal medicine seemed more reliable.

But the result was also evident. Although he used the drug to strengthen and unleash the move, the side effects caused a severe injury to his arm, and the doctor had already begun on-site treatment.

”Mr. Kojiro, there’s no issue with the bone; it’s just dislocated, along with severe muscle tear. Your arm will need a period of rest.”

The doctor made a diagnosis after a simple check, while Kojiro let out another groan of pain, the adjustment of the joint causing him quite a bit of suffering.

The doctor then turned to treat Hyogoro’s wound.

”I’m fine, you don’t need to worry about me.”

Hyogoro’s shoulder wound wasn’t serious. Initially, he wasn’t using Haki, but upon realizing something was wrong, he immediately employed Armament, so the shoulder wound was just superficial.

”Mr. Hyogoro, you’d better get it treated. Mr. Kojiro’s sword... seems rusty.”

After a single strike, Kojiro’s sword had already dropped. As a samurai, it was naturally unqualified, but he was at most a half-baked samurai.

Hyogoro had quite a number of subordinates, and in the underworld, they all revered the strong. Since Kojiro managed to injure Hyogoro, they held him in higher regard. Yet when they picked up Kojiro’s sword, their expressions twitched involuntarily.

”Ru...rusted?!”

”Ahem...well, this is an ancestral sword from my family’s warehouse, perhaps not well preserved.”

Facing Hyogoro’s incredulous expression, Kojiro offered an explanation but also began to doubt himself, seeing as he had polished the sword beforehand.

Under the threat of enchanted weapons, Hyogoro chose to accept the wound cleaning. Although medicine in Wano Kuni is quite backward, it’s not completely clueless. However, tetanus here is called the curse of weapons.

”You won. I won’t go anywhere tonight. But you, rascal, did your sword really rust?!”

Although Hyogoro used some harsh language, those familiar with him knew he recognized the other’s performance.

”After all, I’m just a merchant.”

”A merchant wouldn’t be able to swing a sword like that. Sasaki... Is it that Sasaki? The one from the same era as the Sword Master Ryuma? I didn’t think he had descendants.”

”If the family records are correct, it should be him.”

”That strike of yours... Was actually three blades, right?”

”Swallows can endure wind to dodge a blade. It’s irrelevant whether it’s fast or slow. No matter the sword, it can’t swing without disturbing the air. They change their flight direction by sensing air vibrations.

So, no strike can cut down a swallow. A sword is merely a line. It’s logical that swords can’t capture swallows darting in the air.

So long as its retreat is surrounded, one slash targets the swallow while another blocks its wind-based evasion.

Swallows are very agile, and with this long sword, the second strike can’t catch up.

To succeed, the two slashes must almost occur simultaneously in a flash. If all slashes happen at the same time, the two slashes will still be too slow.

For this, a third slash should also block the side retreating path.”

Kojiro talked about the record concerning the Aerial Ace. Instantaneously executing three slashes is the essence of Aerial Ace, a quick sword strike. The first two moves block the enemy’s evasive and defensive routes, while the third is the final kill strike.

”No wonder, once a famed Sword Master... no, he probably had already tread the path of the Great Sword Master. Kid, train a bit more. Losing this ultimate move in your hands would indeed be a great crime.”

Watching Kojiro with his arm disabled from just one strike, Hyogoro sighed.

....

”Thundering Hakken!”

In the Flower Capital, Yamato struck down the last samurai with one club swing. Most samurai in Wano Kuni lacked armor, as ordinary samurai couldn’t afford it. Those wearing armor were usually the nobles, which allowed the Hundred Beasts to better identify the leaders.

The exquisite armor offers decent defense against common pirate swords, but when facing blunt weapons like the Wolf Fang Club, its effectiveness greatly diminishes.

Be it samurai or hooligans, most enemies in the Flower Capital had already been cleared.

”Round up the defeated samurai! Don’t let these guys cause any more trouble!”

Mandfeish issued orders to the surrounding pirates. High-ranking officials in the Hundred Beasts can directly assume command. Apart from Disaster Level high-ranking officials, his status in the Hundred Beasts is very high.

As the scout troop commander, he has the authority to command these ordinary pirates.

”Send the gravely injured to the Pokemon Center. Handle lighter wounds yourselves and take care of them tomorrow, giving doctors some rest time.”

”Wait, Uncle Mandfeish, send them over as well,”

As Mandfeish arranged for the wounded, Yamato suggested including the civilians, for the battle in the Flower Capital affected many of its residents.

”No need to worry, Miss Yamato, someone will take care of them. Look, they’ve already arrived.”

Saying this, Mandfeish pointed to one side, where people with the Kojiro Trading Company emblem had appeared. This was also a task for the company. At that moment, the company’s logo was accompanied by the Hundred Beasts’ flag, a good opportunity to earn favor.

”Is that so?”

”Of course, and you should head to the hospital.”

”Hospital? I’m not injured; I’m perfectly fine.”

”Lord Arceus’s orders: after the battle, you must undergo a comprehensive medical examination. Please come with me.”
