Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 308: Chapter 307: Secret Sword: Aerial Ace

Wald’s cadres were among the few in the great pirates of the time; his brother was an advisor with no combat power, so as one of the few three cadres, Nightin naturally had to play her role.

Even though she was already sixty years old, her agility was still remarkable, with a body not yet withered, each strike could take down a samurai. A person’s experiences affect their state in old age.

In old age, one could either become a hunched-over old lady, a beer-guzzling, cigarette-smoking idle person, or an energetic elder, all closely related to lifestyle.

Unlike in the original timeline where Nightin was constantly hiding and waiting for Wald to re-emerge, now she at least had a stable high-paying job, greatly improving her lifestyle compared to before.

”Chinese Herbal Fist: Licorice Spin!

Even if Ghost Island’s defense was weak, these samurai without even a decent leader couldn’t solve it, apart from Electivire and Nightin, they also had to face a host of Rotoms.

Neither the freely flying Rotom in the sky nor the Rotoms controlling ovens, refrigerators and other mechanical bodies were something these ordinary samurai could deal with. Soon, the Inner Sea of Wano Kuni was filled with countless samurai.

The powerful voltage released by Electivire and Rotom showed these samurai covered in seawater the meaning of ’electric fish,’ except they were on the receiving end.

Of course, not everyone was caught in this battle. Hyogoro, the underworld boss of the Flower Capital did not get involved. Naturally, such a big ruckus in the Flower Capital reached his residence.

And the reason he didn’t appear was that someone stopped him.

”Kojiro, what do you mean by this?”

Kojiro suddenly arrived at Hyogoro’s residence with Emboar, its massive body completely blocking the exit.

”Sir Hyogoro, I have great respect for you, but what’s happening outside is a political struggle at a higher level. You are, after all, just a common person, better not to wade into these troubled waters.

Besides, you wouldn’t want your wife to be upset, would you.”

In the course of daily interactions, Kojiro had received the kind care of Hyogoro’s wife many times, care that reminded him of the care his mother used to give him.

As the designated merchant of the Hundred Beasts Pirates in Wano Kuni, he had a certain understanding of today’s situation.

Because he was a native of Wano Kuni, and also a member of the Hundred Beasts, he was aware of the disparity in power between both sides, in this situation, anyone getting involved would be courting death.

The bond between Hyogoro and his wife was deep; if Hyogoro died, his wife would undoubtedly be heartbroken, so he came to stop Hyogoro from getting involved.

If they just got through tonight, Hyogoro would no longer have the ability to stir up major conflicts.

As an underworld boss, his attitude towards the General and Daimyo classes of Wano Kuni was different from that of ordinary people; otherwise, he wouldn’t have become the underworld boss. He cared more about the common people of the Flower Capital.

The softer policies of the Hundred Beasts made his opposition to them less severe, which is why he reached a certain consensus with Kojiro.

Kurozumi Orochi also had no chance to use the Hundred Beasts to kill his wife, there was no fundamental conflict between him and the Hundred Beasts.

”Step aside, in this situation, the people of the Flower Capital....”

”There’s no need for you to worry about that, my people are comforting them. As long as we get through tonight, there won’t be any impact, and if you go out now, you’ll only add to the chaos. The longer this battle drags on, the greater the harm it will cause.”

”You can’t stop me, even if you bring that giant.”

The robust Hyogoro was no frail old man, at his peak strength now, Emboar could block his subordinates, but not him.

”Of course, which is why I’m here to propose a condition. The people of the Flower Capital respect you as a Knight, my father was also taken care of by you in the past, so I want to challenge you as a samurai. If you can withstand one strike from me, then I won’t stop you.

But if you can’t withstand it, you’ll stay here quietly tonight, that condition isn’t too much, is it?”

Hyogoro was well respected among the common people of the Flower Capital, unlike those Daimyo and Generals whom many people have never even seen, but were very familiar with Hyogoro.

The Hundred Beasts Pirates were clearing out the established noble classes, people like Hyogoro were exceptions, the main strategy towards them was enticement. Kojiro volunteered for this, otherwise, the Hundred Beasts could easily send a cadre to resolve the issue here.

It then dawned on Hyogoro that Kojiro brought a sword this time, usually appearing as a merchant, this was the first time Hyogoro saw him armed.

”Alright then, go ahead, make it quick.”

Relying solely on gallantry wouldn’t have brought him to where he was today, though he was kind to the commoners, he became the underworld boss of the Flower Capital through real combat, and he didn’t think Kojiro could be his match.

He even urged Kojiro to begin quickly.

”Understood, but please wait a moment, Doctor! Are all the preparations done yet?”

He addressed someone behind him, it turned out he had brought along a doctor.

Upon receiving an affirmative answer, Kojiro then put something into his mouth, a secret medicine he got from Nightin which could briefly stimulate physical potential.

Then Kojiro assumed a standard Iaido stance, Hyogoro scrutinized Kojiro’s sword, which seemed longer compared to those made by most craftsmen.

”Iaido, it seems you’ve practiced for some time.”

Kojiro didn’t reply, and Hyogoro took him more seriously because there was a certain conviction in Kojiro’s eyes, something only the exceptional possessed.

Hyogoro then focused on Kojiro’s wrist, for just one strike, keeping an eye on the wrist was enough to react.

Kojiro gripped the sword in a reverse grip, as the blade left the sheath it produced a sharp hum, Hyogoro easily blocked Kojiro’s attack, but upon contact with the blade, he realized there was a problem, despite appearing to attack only once, Kojiro swung the blade more than once.

Although Hyogoro blocked the second strike, a third left a bloody mark on his shoulder.

”The Secret Sword Technique from the Sasaki family, Secret Sword: Aerial Ace... ugh... it hurts, Doctor, come over, I think my arm is broken.”

The doctor wasn’t there for Hyogoro but for Kojiro. Although his family’s status had declined, the Aerial Ace technique had been passed down intact.

The records weren’t wrong, it’s just that none of his descendants could reach the level of their ancestor, which is why they could never master it, Kojiro managed to perform it largely thanks to Kaidou’s guidance...
