The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

”Crab Imitation” is a traditional specialty dish, characterized by its tender texture and rich nutrients. It tastes like crab meat and is suitable for all ages.

In the local Bei’an area, this dish is not considered something rare.

However, most ordinary families cook this dish mainly with eggs and salted egg yolk.

Qianlima, though, adds fresh shrimp, making it tastier and with a better texture.

So, whenever there’s a large banquet, this dish is often ordered to complement the meal.

Over the years, Wang Peng has been in a high position, witnessing many different social events, and he has had this dish quite a few times as well.

In his memory, besides Qianlima, there is also an old brand restaurant in the north of the city that makes it delicious.

Because they use different ingredients, each has its own unique features.

Both are delicious, both are fresh!

But they’re not quite the same as the plate in front of him now.

It’s said to be made from fresh fish, yet its texture is indistinguishable from crab meat, and the egg color is especially vivid, as if the yellow crab meat has just been extracted from the shell. It looks appetizing and is tender and slippery, extremely delicious.

Wang Peng had a bite and couldn’t help serving himself another small plate.

He thought to himself: No kidding, that young chef really has some skills.

This dish alone is very well done!

The next time I have a chance to come back, I must order this again for my elderly mother who can’t chew hard foods and loves this kind of soft, easy-to-eat dish.

The platter made its round on the table, immediately garnering a heap of praise.

Lv Tianyi sincerely praised, ”It has to be Qianlima! The chef’s cooking skills are truly impressive!”

Someone beside him quickly agreed, ”Exactly, wasn’t this dish cooked by the young chef earlier? He’s so young, yet his culinary skills are this good, truly remarkable!”

The young man who had been sitting quietly near the door since they began suddenly interrupted, ”Indeed remarkable, that chef’s name is Fu Yu, he’s the champion of this year’s Sanjiang Tourism Festival Chef Competition, representing Qianlima Restaurant at the time.”

”Xiaofeng, who did you say?”

The middle-aged man sitting next to Wang Peng asked with great interest.

Xiaofeng, a newcomer who transferred from the city’s publicity department to the finance office last month, is known for his diligence and smooth character, usually adhering to the principle of speaking less to make fewer mistakes, always playing a background role in any setting.

Today he spoke up because he suddenly recalled the still very familiar identity of that young chef. Overcome by excitement, he couldn’t help but speak.

He thought the young chef who came to inquire earlier looked somewhat familiar, as if he had seen him somewhere before.

After thinking for a long time, he couldn’t remember.

It wasn’t until just now, listening to others discuss the young chef’s impressive cooking, that he was suddenly enlightened.

This person was clearly the much-talked-about handsome chef from the previous chef competition!

Before his reassignment, he was busy with the preparations for this competition with his colleagues from the publicity department.

He had a general impression of the participants. The reason he didn’t recognize Fu Yu immediately was because both his demeanor and appearance seemed to have changed.

Back on the competition stage, Fu Yu had appeared quite green and immature, seeming gentle in nature, easily shy, and not one to stand out, a very humble young man.

However, now, maybe because the setting is different, or maybe due to experiences, Fu Yu’s entire presence had undergone a notable change.

He became more confident, composed, his actions measured, and his speech and word choice sounded pleasing and showed competence.

Different!

The whole person seemed to have changed somewhat.

Xiaofeng looked at the man who had asked the question, this man was Deputy Director Wang’s assistant and was doing well at the finance office.

Xiaofeng quickly reiterated, ”The young chef who came over earlier is named Fu Yu, this year’s first place in the chef competition.”

Everyone present was stunned.

It turns out the young-looking chef actually had some impressive credentials!

Wang Peng couldn’t hide his surprise.

So it was a misunderstanding all along!

The young chef who came over wasn’t just a kitchen hand; he was the actual head chef.

Thinking about it, the anger that had built up inside him vanished instantly.

He had thought to himself, Qianlima’s owner didn’t seem like someone without insight; how could they mishandle something like this?

With his mood cleared up, the smile on Wang Peng’s face truly reached his eyes for the first time.

He turned his head and politely asked, ”President Lv, how did this meal taste?”

Lv Tianyi praised repeatedly, ”Tastes great, I’ve been craving this flavor for years!”

Having lived abroad for years, Lv Tianyi is often asked about the best food he’s eaten, and his answer is always hometown cuisine.

Even after tasting all sorts of delicacies, the hometown flavor remains unforgettable.

More specifically, it’s the taste of memories.

When taste carries emotions, it becomes more flavorful.

The old taste, carrying certain memories, is deeply rooted in his heart, continuing along with time.

It is loaded with past happy memories, harboring beautiful hopes for the future.

Like a child’s heart, no matter how many years have passed, how much the world changes, this taste in memory remains unchanged.

And today, his longing for the taste of his hometown is finally fulfilled.

The dishes on this table are the hometown flavors that have haunted his dreams for so many years.

Each dish, each soup, carries the unforgettable delicious taste of memories.

...

What happened in room 104 quickly became known to everyone.

Since Fu Yu stepped up to help last time, Jiang Mo has become an unwavering fan of his.

Hearing that Fu Yu encountered trouble from a customer, Jiang Mo suddenly felt worried, busying herself with processing takeaway orders while also being concerned for Fu Yu.

”I wonder how things are now! In my opinion, that customer is purely unreasonable! Our restaurant’s dishes, whether they have been modified or not, the kitchen staff would know best. If they say it’s the original cooking method, then it’s the original cooking method!”

”Most annoying are those who create trouble for no reason! You come into a restaurant to order, you eat what’s available there!”

”It’s like going to a bun shop to order seafood or going to a hotpot restaurant to order stir-fry dishes!”

With no customers coming to the front desk to pay, Jiang Mo was registering order entries while ranting on.

People familiar with her in the store all know she’s a fan of Fu Yu, and aren’t surprised by this anymore.

However, Liu Yuqing, after being influenced by her ranting, started feeling a bit worried for Fu Yu too.

After all, those were important figures in room 104.

But for some reason, when Liu Yuqing saw Fu Yu looking calm and composed in the kitchen earlier, she inexplicably felt a natural sense of trust and steadiness, a feeling that’s hard to describe yet reassuring.
