The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

When Fu Yu worked part-time at the music restaurant, he didn’t have to go to the Shangshi Private Kitchen in the evenings because the schedule for custom medicinal meals didn’t work out.

So, he stayed until all the kitchen staff got off work, and then he left with them.

As he stood by the roadside hailing a cab, Liu Yunong happened to drive by.

Seeing Fu Yu standing alone by the roadside, she quickly stopped the car to greet him and waved him down.

”Xiaofu? Did you just get off work?”

Fu Yu was taken aback, not expecting to encounter Liu Yunong here. He quickly approached and smiled, ”Yeah, Chef Liu, are you heading home?”

Liu Yunong gestured, ”I’m going the same way, get in the car, I’ll give you a ride back.”

Fu Yu often took rides with Liu Yunong, so upon hearing this, he quickly smiled and got into the passenger seat.

The car drove steadily forward.

Fu Yu was now very familiar with Liu Yunong, and their conversations flowed naturally.

”Chef Liu, did you just get back from the restaurant?”

Fu Yu asked casually.

But after asking, he thought again and realized, no, the Shangshi Private Kitchen and the music restaurant are in completely opposite directions.

Indeed, Liu Yunong said, ”Oh, no, I just finished some business.”

Saying this, she turned to glance at Fu Yu and asked, ”But you, why are you over here so late?”

The music restaurant was not close to Qianlima.

Fu Yu hadn’t mentioned to Liu Yunong that he was working part-time at the music restaurant.

When taking leave, he only said he had something to do that day without explaining in detail.

At the time, Liu Yunong agreed readily and didn’t press him for what exactly he was up to.

Faced with Liu Yunong’s inquiry now, Fu Yu hesitated momentarily.

But soon, he truthfully confessed, ”I work part-time at the music restaurant one day a week.”

Liu Yunong glanced at Fu Yu and nodded.

Liu Yunong had long known about Fu Yu’s part-time job at the music restaurant.

It’s not hard to find out if one wants to dig around.

However, Fu Yu was quite honest, and once asked, he truthfully admitted it.

Liu Yunong smiled slightly, ”The music restaurant takes large-scale banquets, practicing cooking there is quite a good opportunity.”

Fu Yu completely agreed with this.

If he weren’t currently involved in medicinal meals, he used to join others here to take orders and work.

For large-scale banquets, there could easily be dozens or even hundreds of tables, with some dishes requiring repeated cooking ten or dozens of times.

It truly honed his skills.

Fu Yu nodded, ”Yeah, since I started my part-time job here, I’ve gained a lot.”

When Liu Yunong heard Fu Yu say this, the smile in her eyes deepened.

He was ambitious, hardworking, and very sincere.

He’s really a good young man.

The more she interacted with him, the better Liu Yunong’s impression of Fu Yu became.

Liu Yunong nodded in satisfaction, but now wasn’t the time to dwell on that; she was more concerned about another matter, ”Speaking of which, I remembered something, you mentioned before that you usually record your cooking videos and have the habit of reviewing them, right?”

Fu Yu: ”?”

He did have such a habit, but had he ever mentioned it to anyone?

He couldn’t recall at all.

Liu Yunong didn’t wait for Fu Yu to answer and continued on her own, ”Actually, the effect of improving by reviewing your own cooking operations isn’t very good. The best way is to learn from others’ cooking videos, preferably from renowned chefs. Work hard to replicate their cooking techniques and detailed operations, and then seize opportunities to practice practically.”

”This way, you can better improve your culinary skills. After all, repeatedly critiquing your own cooking videos makes it easy to overlook some habitual operational detail errors, which can lead to incorrectly memorized operations.”

”Wanting to improve your culinary skills is a good thing, but you can’t rush it. Besides ambition, you also need to learn and apply the right learning methods, understand?”

Liu Yunong was most concerned about her precious younger sister.

Good grief!

She left early and returned late every day, working diligently and tirelessly, which broke Liu Yunong’s heart.

Now she was even neglecting sleep and food every day editing videos.

Especially recently, Liu Yunong once caught her sister pulling two all-nighters just to help Fu Yu edit videos, which nearly drove her mad with anger!

Her precious sister, whom she couldn’t bear to put to work, ended up being worked hard by someone else’s whims!

Despite all her subtle and direct hints, her sister wouldn’t heed them at all!

Liu Yunong was entirely at her wit’s end, so she had to drop a hint to Fu Yu indirectly.

Her way of giving him a gentle warning.

Fortunately, Fu Yu caught on to the hints quickly and nodded, ”Chef Liu, you’re right, I should watch more famous chefs’ cooking videos in the future to learn.”

Honestly, Fu Yu was quite touched. He could feel that Liu Yunong genuinely cared for him.

When Liu Yunong heard this, she sighed in relief, ”Xiaofu, no matter when, health is the most important capital. Don’t put the cart before the horse, being ambitious is good, but... you also need to balance work and rest.”

Fu Yu felt a warmth in his heart and nodded, ”Thank you for your concern, Chef Liu.”

Liu Yunong smiled, but internally sighed quietly.

She wasn’t concerned about Fu Yu!

She was heartbroken... for how hard her own sister was working!

Because no one knows a sister better than her own.

Liu Yunong practically raised her younger sister.

Her sister seemed beautiful, innocent, and soft-mouthed but was actually very stubborn to the core.

Anything she decided on, she’d follow through to the end!

In truth, Liu Yunong had quite favored the brother of an old friend.

He graduated from a prestigious university, now working at the local bank in the main branch, very promising, decent-looking, and a nice person.

She originally thought that this time, after Liu Yuqing graduated from university, she’d take her over to the main branch to live for a while.

Just close to help things along, give these two a chance to meet and get to know each other with more interactions.

If it worked out, and they could really date, it would be a happy event both families would welcome.

But Liu Yuqing stubbornly demanded to stay living in Bei’an and even eagerly applied to be a waitress at Qianlima under the guise of learning restaurant management gradually from the grassroots level.

This left Liu Yunong at a loss.

Her sister’s ambition and future ability to take some load off the family business were indeed good.

As an elder sister, she could only try every means to pave the way for her.

But who would have thought that as soon as she started at Qianlima, she’d get infatuated with Fu Yu, that kid.

Yet Fu Yu, too, didn’t know how to be considerate, constantly letting her sister stay up late editing videos.

Thinking of this, Liu Yunong couldn’t help but sigh again.

Alas...

In the end, it really is hard to keep a grown daughter at home...
