The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

In the restaurant, the places with the most up-to-date gossip are the front hall and the kitchen.

The news of VIP guests arriving in private room 104 spread first among the front hall waiters.

While Liu Yuqing was at the front desk with Jiang Mo handling takeout orders, she overheard the waiters gossiping as they helped customers check out.

”I heard it’s a big city leader inviting overseas Chinese back for dinner.”

Overseas Chinese?

To be invited by the city leader, if not a family or friend, it must be for investment and development.

Liu Yuqing multitasked, listening to the gossip for a while until Jiang Mo finished registering the takeout order, then hurriedly jogged to the kitchen to deliver the order slip.

She first went to the barbecue area, handed over the order slip, and then circled to the Red Case District.

This year’s order slips have been mostly handled by the Red Case side.

When Liu Yuqing arrived, she saw several chefs each busy with their tasks.

The order slip was for Gu Yunwu.

After delivering the order slip, Liu Yuqing didn’t leave immediately but turned to Fu Yu’s cooking station to gossip quietly.

”The order from room 104, is it your side handling it?”

Fu Yu had just plated the cooked ”Simulating Crab” dish.

Hearing this, he nodded: ”Hmm, what’s up?”

Liu Yuqing’s eyes lit up and she said: ”Do you know who is here?”

Before Fu Yu could answer, she continued: ”I heard it’s the city leadership inviting overseas Chinese!”

So it’s the city leadership, huh?

Fu Yu thought of that middle-aged man with a serious expression, indeed he looked quite authoritative.

At this moment, a food runner came to carry the dish.

”Chef Fu, is the ’Simulating Crab’ remake for room 104 ready?”

Fu Yu responded: ”Yes, take it away!”

The food runner breathed a sigh of relief: ”Great! Chef Fu, thank you for your hard work!”

Fu Yu smiled slightly and turned back to his work.

Liu Yuqing curiously asked: ”A remake of ’Simulating Crab’? What’s going on?”

Just because of this dish, the food runner had to make an extra trip, and brought it up with a belly full of complaints.

”Don’t bring it up, we finished the dish in the kitchen, but when it was brought out, the customer insisted it wasn’t like they remembered!”

”We had no choice but to remake another plate.”

Listening to this, Liu Yuqing couldn’t help but glance again at the dish in the platter.

She’s seen the ”Simulating Crab” from the restaurant before, and indeed this plating was different than before.

It lacked a circle of broccoli, and the ingredients didn’t seem quite the same.

The food runner, eager to serve, muttered a couple of words and hurriedly took the platter away.

Liu Yuqing couldn’t help asking Fu Yu: ”How is this done? Has our restaurant made improvements to this dish before?”

Fu Yu shook his head, thinking to himself, everyone says one lie needs countless lies to cover up, if you want to cover up, you must do it neatly.

He said: ”Oh, no, this dish hasn’t been improved, just the old-style cooking method. But I used a newly learned cooking method to do it.”

Newly learned cooking method?

Liu Yuqing was quite interested and asked: ”Where did you learn it from?”

Fu Yu chuckled and avoided answering.

Liu Yuqing couldn’t help but become even more curious.

So mysterious!

It definitely wasn’t taught by Chef Zhao, otherwise, there would be no need to be mysterious.

Chef Yao didn’t come to the restaurant today, Chef Gu definitely wouldn’t have pointed it out.

Other than these two, it only left her own sister!

Fu Yu went to the Shangshi Private Kitchen to learn cooking every night, others didn’t know, but Liu Yuqing was well aware.

However...

Did their restaurant have this ”Simulating Crab”?

Why didn’t she have any impression of it?

Could it be a newly added dish?

Looking at the plating earlier was indeed appetizing, she must find a chance to try it someday.

...

Private Room 104.

The waiter made a gesture of knocking the door and entered with the food runner carrying the dish.

”Simulating Crab is ready!”

The room’s occupants, who were warmly chatting, turned their heads upon hearing.

”President Lv, take a look, how’s this newly made dish?”

Wang Peng asked, also craning his neck to inspect this remade ”Simulating Crab”.

Indeed!

It did look different from the previous one.

The circle of broccoli was missing, switched to a textured white round porcelain platter.

The bottom of the plate held a thick layer of white ingredients resembling crab meat, with a centerpiece of tender yellow resembling peeled crab roe.

The simplistic design was far less appealing than the previous plating.

Wang Peng frowned, after all that work, just like this?

His grievance towards Dong Jun Tian deepened!

Lv Tianyi, seeing the newly cooked ”Simulating Crab” in front of him, was impressed.

Not mentioning the taste, just this plating resembled exactly what he remembered.

White ingredient, tender like crab meat, yellow ingredient rich like crab roe.

Getting closer, one could smell the rich, fresh aroma.

”Not bad! This looks very much like what I used to have!”

Wang Peng heard this and was momentarily puzzled, glancing in surprise at Lv Tianyi.

He saw his face filled with delighted expression, not faking it.

Could it be that the kitchen actually made the kind of old-style ”Simulating Crab” that Lv Tianyi asked for?

With this thought, Wang Peng plastered a smile on his face, inviting: ”Really? I wonder how it tastes, President Lv, please try it!”

Without hesitation, Lv Tianyi picked up a spoon, took a scoop and sent it into his mouth.

The freshly cooked ”Simulating Crab” was smooth and tender, flavorful and delicious.

The white part, grainy and chewy, flooded with fresh taste in every bite, blending with the yellow part soaked in essence reminiscent of crab roe, tasty and delectable, smooth...truly wonderful!

After swallowing a spoonful of ”Simulating Crab”, Lv Tianyi’s eyes lit up, with some surprise: ”Yes! This is the taste! Hey! What ingredients does your kitchen use for this dish? Could it really be crab meat?”

Even though knowing ”Simulating Crab” is made with substitute ingredients imitating real crab, this dish, by look and taste, was just too much like actual crab.

The food runner, about to leave the room, halted at these words and quickly replied: ”It’s said to be made with fresh fish and eggs.”

This insight was gained when she had seen Fu Yu preparing the dish in the kitchen by chance.

Hearing this, Lv Tianyi nodded, taking a closer look at the dish in front of him.

No wonder!

Fresh fish meat was used, paired with eggs, so the texture became soft, smooth, and silky, flavorful akin to crab meat.

Fish itself was already flavorful.

It shows the skill of the kitchen chef, transforming fish and eggs into something that tastes like crab!

Truly remarkable!

Enjoying the delight of the dish, Lv Tianyi served himself another two scoops, before spinning the tabletop, inviting the others present to taste.

”This dish is indeed well done, everyone, give it a try! After eating it back then, I never forgot it, I didn’t expect to have the same taste again today!”
