The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu gave an awkward smile as he finally caught on.

The reason he wanted to be polite was that he saw himself as an outsider, just here to learn cooking, and only did what little he could manage.

In the kitchen, whether it was Wang Yulong or Liu Zhangpeng, both were more seasoned than him.

Even if someone needed a break, they should go first.

It really wasn’t appropriate for him to jump the line.

But at this moment, Wang Yulong was looking at him as if he was... one of them.

That’s how it is in the kitchen. Everyone works together, whoever has time can take a break, taking turns with each other.

Fu Yu felt a warmth in his heart, nodded to Wang Yulong and said, ”Alright, I’ll take a bite first and then relieve you guys.”

Saying this, he also made a point of looking at Liu Zhangpeng, ”Chef Liu, thank you for your hard work.”

Liu Zhangpeng quickly nodded, ”Oh! Chef Fu, you’re being too polite! It’s no trouble at all!”

Fu Yu smiled, washed his hands, and went to serve himself some rice.

The kitchen was extremely busy today, normally they just ate the dishes provided by the restaurant that day.

But with the current circumstances, Fu Yu simply scooped a bowl of hot rice and was ready to grab a piece of pre-braised beef to add to his meal.

He hadn’t had a drop to drink since 2 PM, and he was truly famished!

Just as Fu Yu was about to grab a slotted spoon to pick a piece of beef, a junior worker nearby came over also wanting some beef.

Fu Yu stepped aside a bit to give the person space.

As a result, the junior worker scooped around twice in the pot and picked out a piece of perfectly marbled beef, then directly placed it into Fu Yu’s bowl.

Fu Yu was somewhat surprised, nodded to him and said, ”Thank you.”

The junior worker quickly nodded, ”Chef Fu, it’s nothing! If you need anything, just let us know. Your cooking skills are amazing, especially the stuffing technique! To be able to put so much meat filling into tender tofu blocks without breaking them... And your control over the heat when frying is truly impressive! I hope I can learn from you in the future!”

Fu Yu was a bit stunned, learning from him...

Well, it did feel a bit... gratifying.

Hmm!

Thinking of this, Fu Yu suddenly felt invigorated.

Realizing belatedly, wasn’t entering the culinary class with zeal yesterday exactly for today, having these kitchen folks bow down in awe!

...

Meanwhile, in the music restaurant’s grilling area.

Two junior workers around Master Chen were looking at him in amazement.

Today, the restaurant suddenly received a special take-out order; a company was holding a team-building event and ordered a large quantity of the restaurant’s signature barbecue.

The kitchen was short-staffed, and they didn’t have enough prepared ingredients. In a panic, Master Chen hurriedly sought help from the boss, Yao Shi.

He even hoped to call over Fu Yu to help with the grilling.

Because the customer had ordered the classically improved grilled eel.

But Fu Yu couldn’t be reached by phone, so the boss immediately arranged for a purchaser to get supplies and helped contact the channels.

As for the grilling, although it was tiring and busy, at least... they finally completed all the orders!

At this moment, Master Chen couldn’t help but admire Fu Yu’s superb grilling skills; not only were his techniques skilled, but his speed was incredibly fast too.

Even though it was the same procedure, when Fu Yu grilled, he could do it much quicker.

In comparison, his own control over the heat was considerably lacking.

The junior workers around him looked at Master Chen’s skilled grilling techniques with expressions of complete admiration.

That’s a true master!

It makes a difference!

With such a large order, wouldn’t anyone else be roasting until tomorrow morning?

It’s amazing!

Zhang Zhen, who had come by to take a breather and check out the situation, also praised continuously.

”Impressive! It has to be our Master Chen, the master of grilling! No wonder these major companies come to our restaurant to order during team-building events!”

Hearing Zhang Zhen’s praise, Master Chen’s old face turned slightly red, and he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

Alas... Still no match for Chef Fu. Can’t deny getting old. In comparison, I’m not even half as good.

Master Chen shook his head, speaking truthfully, ”If it weren’t for him teaching me the seasoning mix and grilling techniques before, I’d surely have ruined my reputation today!”

The restaurant had taken large orders before, but it had never had ones catering to a hundred people all at once!

Maybe times have changed, and even ordering has become so intense.

A new worker, unguarded and curious, directly asked the question, ”No wonder the seasoning smells so special. Chef Chen, is this a new blend?”

Master Chen nodded, his voice carrying a hint of complex emotion, ”This was actually done by Chef Fu when he came to help last time.”

The new worker had never met Fu Yu and didn’t know who this high-profile Chef Fu was, but he remembered the name, knowing this person couldn’t be simple.

For Master Chen to offer praise, he must be on a master’s level.

Master Chen grabbed a tissue to wipe his sweat, softly saying, ”If he’d been handling today’s grilling, the time would have been cut in half, and most importantly, he could guarantee that the grilled flavors would fully satisfy our customers!”

These words caused a stir!

How’s that possible?

No matter how well take-out barbecue is prepared, delivery delays will inevitably affect its texture and flavor.

Especially with today’s large orders.

Claiming to ensure 100% customer satisfaction seems overly ambitious!

The new worker’s curiosity grew, and he couldn’t help but ask, ”Chef Chen... Who exactly is Chef Fu? Why haven’t we seen him in the kitchen?”

Master Chen shook his head but didn’t respond.

Zhang Zhen, seeing Master Chen’s forlorn expression, empathetically moved closer, patting his longtime colleague’s shoulder, ”Ah, you’ll get used to it. The Yangtze River waves drive away the old waves; a new generation replaces the old! It’s just a natural progression, nothing to be done.”

This comfort did no good; upon hearing it, Master Chen almost broke into tears!

Is this the surge of waves from behind pushing the waves ahead?

Why, it feels more like being washed ashore against the sand!

Realizing this, Master Chen couldn’t help but let out a bitter smile.

At this rate, there’s no avoiding being overtaken.

...

”Achoo!”

Fu Yu had a simple meal and was about to put his used dishes in the sink when a junior worker quickly came to take them away.

”Chef Fu, let me handle it, you can carry on with your work!”

Fu Yu was just about to refuse politely when his nose tickled, and with a sneeze, the junior worker had already taken the dishes away.

Watching the junior worker’s retreating figure, Fu Yu raised an eyebrow slightly.

Why did it feel like the attitude of the kitchen staff toward him had suddenly shifted?

How strange!
