The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu was quite pleased with the task rewards he received today.

In previous task stages, aside from gaining goodwill, there wasn’t much to be happy about.

He didn’t expect to receive extra skill points; it was an unexpected surprise.

However, he also managed to garner a bunch of goodwill from Wang Yulong, a total of 15 points.

What’s the use of that?

Wouldn’t it be better if he could gain some goodwill from Liu Yunong? At least that would help solidify the mentor-mentee relationship, right?

Fu Yu was a bit lost in thought when he heard Liu Yunong say, ”For the next few days, any stuffing tasks will be yours to handle.”

Fu Yu’s eyes lit up: ”Won’t that delay things?”

Liu Yunong replied casually, ”I’ve got your back, so what’s there to be afraid of?”

Fu Yu quickly said, ”I’m not afraid; I can do it!”

Fu Yu would never admit that he couldn’t do it!

Moreover, he truly believed he could do it!

Especially since such a rare opportunity to practice had come his way, he wouldn’t let it pass no matter what.

If the system hadn’t timely sent the task reward, Fu Yu had even thought about spending skill points before.

Fortunately, he had a moment of enlightenment later on!

Just then, Wang Yulong happened to walk past Fu Yu, stopped, and patted Fu Yu on the shoulder, ”Do your best, you’ll be fine!”

Fu Yu looked gratefully at Wang Yulong.

He suddenly realized that the goodwill points he had worked hard to earn were quite useful after all.

At the very least, Wang Yulong’s attitude towards him had become noticeably more friendly due to the 15 goodwill points.

Previously, although also friendly, there was an unspoken distance maintained between them.

Now, not only was he proactively teaching him cooking skills, but he would even give him some encouragement.

Looking at it that way, it’s quite worthwhile to gain some goodwill from the people around him.

If he could also gain some goodwill from Liu Yunong, that would be even better; just thinking about it made him so eager!

...

However, in the following time, Fu Yu didn’t have many opportunities to practice.

Even though Shangshi Private Kitchen had high prices and limited daily sales of dishes, apart from the ten daily specials updated by the restaurant, they didn’t accept custom orders from customers.

But because the dishes were unique and authentic in flavor, many diners came every day by reputation.

Even if the popular dishes were limited to 40 servings, the demand still exceeded the supply.

The kitchen staff were all busy handling orders, unable to look after themselves, and Fu Yu had no opportunity to practice stuffing.

However, Fu Yu didn’t slack off; since he wasn’t good at stuffing, he took over the initial cooking process of the pagoda pork, leaving the stuffing to Wang Yulong.

The two of them worked together quite harmoniously.

Wang Yulong praised Fu Yu’s excellent knife skills to no end.

During the stuffing process, he even taught Fu Yu a couple of tricks.

”When doing the stuffing, if time is tight, you can directly spread the preserved vegetables on the meat slices and then roll them up. Although the steps differ slightly, the appearance is largely unaffected.”

There’s not much difference; although there might be some slight deviations.

However, if time is really tight, this is also a handy shortcut.

”Additionally, when making stuffing, if you’re not very skilled, you can use auxiliary tools like flat-ended chopsticks or a flat spoon handle to stuff the preserved vegetables into the meat roll. When spreading, you can slide and roll it out evenly.”

”But, after you’ve done it enough times, you’ll naturally become proficient, just like this...”

Wang Yulong demonstrated the stuffing technique to Fu Yu.

The slippery and fragile meat rolls in Wang Yulong’s hands turned into solid dough, easily rounded and flattened.

The thick preserved vegetables were quickly stuffed into the meat rolls. Watching Wang Yulong’s fingertips knead and press a few times, they were spread evenly.

Wang Yulong’s method had no novelty, nor did it employ any fancy techniques, just straightforward stuffing.

But this simple operation left Fu Yu enlightened, suddenly awakened.

He firmly memorized the coordination between Wang Yulong’s fingers and the angle of his wrist movements.

While Wang Yulong demonstrated, Fu Yu repeatedly practiced and simulated in his mind.

After observing for an evening, he felt he had benefited a lot.

At 10:30.

The restaurant closed on time, and Fu Yu, as usual, hitched a ride back with Liu Yunong.

All the way, Liu Yunong’s phone never stopped ringing.

Due to issues with changing suppliers at the main store, from purchasing to the head chef, everyone called Liu Yunong for instructions.

The two sides were in a deadlock for a long time due to differing opinions.

Liu Yunong’s attitude was consistently gentle, and she sounded very calm, but she couldn’t hide her fatigue in her expression.

Watching Liu Yunong handling business affairs, Fu Yu thought to himself: Being a boss isn’t easy!

However, this thought quickly vanished.

After all, considering Liu Yunong’s wealth, it’s only natural for her to be a bit conscientious.

If he could have a day like that, he’d be thrilled.

On the side street, after waving goodbye to Liu Yunong, Fu Yu jogged back to the dormitory. The first thing he did was send a message to his mom.

Ever since she learned that he was learning culinary arts at Shangshi Private Kitchen every night, his mom had asked him to send a safety message every time he safely returned to the restaurant.

After sending the message, Fu Yu was about to go wash up.

Just after setting down his phone, a call came in.

Fu Yu glanced at the caller ID and saw it was from his mom. His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly answered.

”Hello! Mom? Why are you still up so late?”

The past few nights, he had been sending safety messages, and his mom would always reply with a message telling him to rest early.

Today, calling suddenly, Fu Yu’s heart immediately tensed, and a stream of thoughts filled his mind.

”Oh, I just finished talking to your aunt on the phone, sigh...”

Hearing this, Fu Yu’s anxious heart suddenly relaxed.

Chatting with her aunt late into the night, it could only mean that something was up with Lin Minghao.

Fu Yu didn’t ask; he just listened to his mom speak.

”Your aunt heard from Minghao’s classmate that Minghao is being bullied at school. She and your uncle are really worried.

Fu Yu was taken aback: ”How did my aunt get in touch with Minghao’s classmates?”

His mom said, ”Oh, the last time she visited where you are, she went to the school for a look and got their contact info back then.”

Fu Yu suddenly understood. Well, she infiltrated the enemy camp directly.

”If you have time, try to visit Minghao’s school to check on him.” His mom sighed, ”He’s all alone out there, with a difficult personality; don’t let him really get bullied too badly.”

Fu Yu frowned, ”He should learn to handle these troubles on his own.”

His mom said, ”Try to check on him, otherwise, your aunt won’t be at ease.”

Fu Yu nodded helplessly and said, ”Alright, I’ll go as soon as I have some time.”
