The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

At this moment, more staff must be dispatched immediately to help handle the orders and assist with cooking!

Handling unexpected situations is the best way to gauge a kitchen manager’s ability and level.

In the few minutes after Wang Yulong returned, all the kitchen staff were back in their positions.

”Chop the mushrooms into paste!”

”Chop the green onions fine!”

...

All work was proceeding in an orderly manner.

At this moment, another server came from the front hall to deliver order slips, three at once.

This news suddenly threw the whole kitchen into chaos.

”Add a dish to table 5!” The intercom on the wall buzzed.

After answering, Zhang Conglin’s voice instantly came through.

The customer wants to add a dish...

At this moment, that’s not good news!

It’s simply adding to the chaos.

The three new order slips need to be cooked immediately.

To ensure that dishes are delivered to the dining table as quickly as possible, so we can continue cooking the other dishes on the order slips.

Serving dishes in the kitchen means skillfully managing the timing differences in cooking each table’s orders, ensuring that when customers are halfway through one dish, another cooked dish is ready to be served.

To make the dining experience smooth and pleasant for the customers, the kitchen must seize every moment and shorten cooking times.

It’s common for a chef in charge to monitor cooking on two or three stoves simultaneously.

But now Liu Zhangpeng still has several order slips in hand that aren’t completed, plus six portions of stuffed tofu that haven’t been started yet.

And now there are three more order slips that need immediate cooking and serving.

It’s often said that when you’re down on your luck, even drinking cold water will make you choke.

That’s exactly how Liu Zhangpeng feels right now.

The kitchen is really short-staffed, no wonder the boss is still on the lookout for new hires, looking to recruit two more head chefs locally.

At the time, he thought it wasn’t necessary, that the kitchen could manage just fine with him and his master, Wang Yulong.

But seeing the situation now, disasters are unavoidable.

Today Wang Yulong got injured, and if anything else happens tomorrow, if either of them can’t cook, the kitchen will fall into chaos.

Liu Zhangpeng’s spatula was almost flying in his hands.

But there’s no way around it.

Cooking is inherently a step-by-step process.

When manpower is lacking, being in a hurry is useless.

Wang Yulong’s expression changed as he took the three new order slips and carefully reviewed the dishes.

One large banquet, and two small banquets.

Wang Yulong thought for a moment, then turned and instructed:

”Prepare the dishes, clean three papayas!”

”Pour the boiled fish soup into a basin immediately!”

”Serve the ginger-stewed meat to table 8 first!”

...

A series of orders were issued methodically, and everyone went into tense and busy work.

The most important thing for the kitchen now is to quickly cook and serve the newly received order slips one by one!

We must complete the cooking before the customers urge for dishes, ensuring each table has dishes for the customers to enjoy.

In Liu Zhangpeng’s pot was a semi-finished dish from one of the order slips.

To save time, all the order slips in hand were prioritized by the dishes with shorter cooking times and faster serving speeds.

Soon the thickening was done in the pot, and after processing the semi-finished dish, it was plated and handed over to the assistant to place on the rotating bar’s conveyor belt.

This order slip can be put on hold temporarily to handle other more urgent order slips first.

Liu Zhangpeng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

But Wang Yulong slightly frowned.

The store’s business was exceptionally good today.

Yet coincidentally, he injured his right hand and couldn’t operate the ladle.

Relying solely on Liu Zhangpeng, the cooking of these tables’ orders couldn’t be properly coordinated.

Once customers urge for dishes, it would greatly damage the store’s reputation.

In Shangshi Private Kitchen, this is a very serious work error.

Wang Yulong quickly gave orders.

Although manpower is lacking... anyone else who can help should help.

Today was an accidental injury, what if another situation arises next time?

The boss entrusted the branch to him out of trust.

Wang Yulong couldn’t use his right hand, but he still had his left hand to guide the assistants with plating, and control the entire serving process.

Liu Zhangpeng cooperated diligently; the two had been master and disciple for years and had great rapport.

Soon, a dish from the earliest delivered order slip was finished cooking and taken away by the server.

Three new order slips remained, two of which were semi-finished dishes that could be completed and served within ten minutes.

The last remaining order slip, with six portions of stuffed tofu, had to be cooked immediately.

Cooking stuffed tofu was too complicated.

Wang Yulong quickly checked the prepared ingredients.

The minced meat and mushroom paste were already chopped, and the warm tofu had cooled down, just right for cutting.

Next up, the stuffed tofu needed to be cooked.

But... this dish takes too long, and no matter how capable Liu Zhangpeng is, he only has two hands and can’t be in two places at once.

Wang Yulong’s right hand was swollen with two clear blisters, making it completely unusable for cooking.

In the culinary field, the longer you work, the more experience you gain.

But when you can’t stand at the kitchen station to cook, the problems you face can’t be solved just by experience.

That’s exactly the situation now.

All the situations are right in front of the eyes, yet there is no good solution.

Currently, if only Liu Zhangpeng could free up his hands to cook the newly received three order slips.

Then someone else could be responsible for the banquet with stuffed tofu, and help handle the other simultaneously cookable dishes from other order slips.

If there was just one more person, the current predicament could be easily resolved.

But who should do it?

Who should cook?

It’s a tough question.

Glancing at Liu Zhangpeng, he was seriously focused on tossing the wok, busy with sweat dripping down his forehead.

Catching Wang Yulong’s accidental glance at him, Liu Zhangpeng quickly reassured: ”Master, it’s fine, I can handle it. Once I steam this dish, I can start on the stuffed tofu.”

But Wang Yulong immediately shook his head in denial.

He turned to Fu Yu and solemnly said word by word: ”Xiaofu! You cook the stuffed tofu!”

As soon as these words came out, the surroundings fell silent.

Let Fu Yu cook the stuffed tofu!?

What a joke?

Today’s ten dishes are all newly changed, never cooked before.

Before this, every time Fu Yu came, he was just following along to learn and had never truly cooked independently.

Frankly, he was just an apprentice.

Chef Wang... actually let an apprentice handle the cooking, that’s too risky!

Thinking about this, the assistants just muttered in their hearts a bit.

But Liu Zhangpeng’s expression changed.

This is not ordinary cooking; it’s on ordered dishes that customers are waiting for, requiring perfect cooking.

If this gets messed up, it will disrupt the whole order of serving, offend customers, and might even lead to customer complaints.
