Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

A group of armed police suddenly appeared in the room, surrounding all of them, with the dark muzzles pointing at their heads.

Father and the uncles began to stir, and in an instant, the room was in chaos.

Luo Tong was scared stiff, standing motionless on the spot, watching this scene unfold. Her father and uncles were pinned to the ground, their hands twisted behind their backs, a pair of shiny handcuffs tightly binding them.

They struggled like trapped beasts, roared, but eventually succumbed to the police’s authority.

They were taken away one by one, leaving in a disheveled rush, with Father unable to even look at her.

As he was stepping out the door, Father paused briefly, didn’t turn his head, and said to her, ”Go find your uncle! From now on, I may not be able to take care of you anymore.”

The room fell silent, and the police comforted her, saying it was over.

She remembered gripping the police officer’s hand tightly and blankly asking, ”When will my dad come back? Why did you take him away!”

The police officer initially didn’t answer, but after she persisted, he finally explained the reason.

It was then she learned her father was a human trafficker, specializing in abducting children and young girls, and that they had committed heinous crimes.

Luo Tong had a feeling she might never see her father again.

”Hehe! The police are getting praise for catching the traffickers! Bang, executed!” Her uncle’s simpleton son laughed foolishly in the room, and his words were really harsh.

Luo Tong angrily tossed aside the broom and rushed into the room, standing right in front of the TV, ”Stop watching! You fool!”

”I want to watch, I want to watch... You move away!” The fool was over forty years old, yet his intelligence was lower than that of a three-year-old child.

”No watching allowed! Go take care of my little brother, he’s sick, go give him some water to drink!” Luo Tong said sternly with her hands on her hips.

”No! I won’t go!”

”Then go sweep the yard!”

”No! I want to watch TV.” The fool pushed Luo Tong away, causing a commotion.

Luo Tong fell to the ground, the skin on her palm was scraped painfully, she angrily got up from the floor, just about to turn off the TV for the fool, when suddenly she saw a familiar figure appear on the TV screen.

He was wearing a brand-new camouflage combat uniform, with a small military cap, walking proudly up to the podium. His handsome face was full of pride and self-confidence.

Behind him stood Wang Xiaohu and the others, the kids who often came to her house to eat popsicles and play games.

Watching Ning Chenyang in such high spirits, Luo Tong’s eyes gradually welled up with tears, she silently whispered in her heart: Chenyang, goodbye!

In this lifetime, I’m afraid I’ll never see it again!

She couldn’t bear to leave them.

Especially Ning Chenyang!

Luo Tong forgot to turn off the TV, her gaze greedily fixed on Ning Chenyang’s figure through the screen. From this point on, the two of them would be worlds apart, always so close yet so far.

”Here, hold your trophies and prize money!” A host’s voice sounded at the scene as she gracefully walked to the center of the award stage and said with a smile, ”Now, let’s invite our great little ’warrior’ to share his feelings at this moment!”

Ning Chenyang raised his head, stood on the award stage, saluted, and said loudly, ”It was an accident that I discovered this gang of traffickers, my little friends and I...”

As his resounding voice came from the TV, Luo Tong was stunned, her heart wrenched hard.
