Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Qiu Xinyi watched Yan Huan drink the wine, a slight smile appeared on her lips. She tilted her head back to down her own drink, then refilled her glass, ”I’ve had a drink with you, shouldn’t you have a drink with me too?”

”With you?” Yan Huan shook her head, ”I won’t drink with my rival in love.”

”Rival in love...”

”Officer Yan is really bold to say that...”

The comrades whispered to each other, suddenly feeling that this meal had taken on a different meaning.

”Yan Huan, your heart is too small.” Seeing that Yan Huan was being unaccommodating, Qiu Xinyi remained unhurried and said, ”I despise what you have done. Yan Huan, you’re actually afraid that I’ll take Ji Chuan away. You aren’t confident in front of Ji Chuan! To put it bluntly, you only got here before me. Ji Chuan has a preconceived impression of you. If I had the same favorable conditions as you, I would have won Ji Chuan’s heart before you.”

”What are you trying to say?” Yan Huan looked coldly at Qiu Xinyi, not understanding what Qiu Xinyi was trying to pull.

”Nothing much. I’m not convinced! I think you’re inferior to me in every way, and you’re a coward. You don’t deserve Ji Chuan’s love!” Qiu Xinyi provoked Yan Huan with her words.

Bang!

Yan Huan’s good temper was exhausted, and she slammed her palm on the table.

She had been enduring Qiu Xinyi all this time. She had been avoiding Qiu Xinyi’s hurtful attacks, but tonight, Qiu Xinyi seemed determined to provoke some conflict with her words.

”Ji Chuan loves me, and I love Ji Chuan. Whether you’re convinced or not, this love is beyond reason. Officer Qiu, you’re leaving here tomorrow; I don’t want to start a dispute with you or leave you with an unpleasant impression. However, my patience has its limits, so please watch your words; stop challenging my patience at every turn. And this is a personal matter between the two of us; don’t discuss it here and make everyone uncomfortable.”

Director Wei, seeing how the meal had turned sour, hurriedly intervened to smooth things over: ”We are all comrades here, let’s not talk about unhappy things today! Come come, let’s all have a drink together, for the sake of digging out better news and producing outstanding articles in the future.”

”Director!” As Director Wei’s words fell, Qiu Xinyi spoke up, ”I’m not feeling good today. I’ve been holding in this bitterness for so long! I’m leaving you all tomorrow, and if I can’t resolve this knot in my heart, I’ll never be at peace in the future.”

”Xiao Qiu, what do you plan to do...” Director Wei sighed helplessly, who would have thought that a simple meal could lead to such trouble.

”I want to have a proper contest with Yan Huan.” Qiu Xinyi slammed a bottle of beer onto the table and said, ”Yan Huan, let’s make a deal. You have a match with me today, and regardless of the outcome, all grievances between us will be canceled. From now on, I won’t interfere in your life again! I also won’t bother Ji Chuan anymore; I want to let go of this feeling and bury it in my heart.”

”I can’t drink a lot of alcohol. If you’re feeling uncomfortable, I can watch you drink; once you’ve had your fill and are satisfied, we’ll let this matter be.” Yan Huan felt she was being magnanimous enough.

”No, you accompany me! Yan Huan, I’m tired, I don’t want to keep fighting with you, and I don’t want to damage our camaraderie over a man anymore! I’m lowering my guard, seeking reconciliation with you...” Qiu Xinyi looked earnestly at Yan Huan.

”Drink! Officer Yan, drink!” The comrades were also eager to see the two make up, and they urged Yan Huan to drink.
