Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”It’s such a coincidence. We can’t go there anymore. I’m thinking about whether I should tell my parents the truth about what happened today,” said Ning Chenyang hesitantly.

”Tell them. You absolutely must tell them.”

”Right. That’s correct, these traffickers are too heinous. Last time, Yu Ziyang and I almost got stolen by traffickers. I can’t stand these scoundrels. I must tell my parents. Even if I get beaten by my family tonight and my butt hurts, I have to catch this group of harmful people.” Sheng Xiaoguang recalled the situation when he was almost kidnapped last time, and he felt uneasy and uncomfortable.

He harbors deep-seated hatred toward traffickers.

”Alright. Then let’s tell our parents. I, Wang Xiaohu, also want to be a hero for once.” Wang Xiaohu patted his chest, looking somewhat ready to bravely sacrifice himself.

”Alright! That’s settled. Why don’t we just tell our parents together?”

”Okay!”

......

Half an hour later.

Eight adults and four children all squeezed into Qin Jian’s house.

A very serious meeting was taking place.

Qin Jian had been resting at home these past few days, and when it was time for Ning Chenyang to finish school, he would go pick him up. However, on the way, there was a minor issue with the car.

The majority of the children in their class were from the compound, and it wasn’t unusual for them to walk home together after school.

Unexpectedly, when they returned to the compound, they discovered that several children’s parents were in the yard inquiring about their kids, asking classmates who were already home where these children were.

By the time he fixed the car and arrived at the school gate, he found that Ning Chenyang was missing.

He searched everywhere.

He drove through the streets of Nancheng City, looking for him one by one, but couldn’t find Ning Chenyang. He wondered if he had missed him or if Ning Chenyang had taken a bus home on his own.

Fortunately, before the security team was called in, these little guys came back and were conspiring at the compound gate about how to trick the adults.

”What’s going on? You kids are getting bolder and bolder. Where did you go after school instead of going home?” Qin Jian questioned Ning Chenyang with a stern face.

He knew very well the role his son played among the kids in the compound.

He was definitely the leader, and as long as he asked him, he was sure to find out the kids’ whereabouts.

”Dad. I’ll say it, but don’t get mad. And you can’t punish me.” This vacation in the army, he suffered a lot. Just thinking about running laps around the track under the blazing sun, and standing stiff like a stump after running, made him feel miserable.

He didn’t want to experience such punishment a second time.

”Stop the nonsense. Just speak up if you have something to say,” Qin Jian scolded in a low voice.

”I... I’m scared.” Ning Chenyang feared Qin Jian’s expression. He knew that by speaking out, punishment was likely inevitable, but he wanted to ask for as much leniency as he could from his father before that happened.

”You’ve got my permission. Go ahead and speak!” An Hao saw that the child was scared by Qin Jian’s icy demeanor and patted Ning Chenyang’s little shoulder to comfort him.

But Ning Chenyang’s eyes stayed fixed on Qin Jian. Without his father’s cue, he didn’t dare to speak.

”Wang Xiaohu, you do it,” Wang Zhong pointed at his own son when he saw Ning Chenyang wasn’t speaking.

”Dad, if I speak, you won’t hit me, right?” Wang Xiaohu asked nervously.

Wang Zhong glared with his round eyes: ”Where did you get all this nonsense from? Hurry up and talk!”
