Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

If Ji Chuan knew that his parents were left hanging at the train station by Yan Huan, what would he think?

Qiu Xinyi grew happier the more she thought about it.

This could count as a lesson for Yan Huan! Teach her for plotting behind her back!

Serves her right!

Qiu Xinyi returned to the office, took out her belongings locked in the desk, and put them in her bag, ready to leave.

As she was about to step out, the phone on the table rang.

Qiu Xinyi picked up the phone casually and heard an anxious voice on the other end: ”Is this Yan Huan? We’ve been here for over an hour, why haven’t you arrived yet?”

”Aunt?” Qiu Xinyi immediately realized it was Ji Chuan’s mother on the phone.

”You... you’re not Yan Huan?” Meng Qingmei recognized the voice as the same one from the morning, ”I called earlier, you answered the phone. I want to ask, did you pass my message to her?”

”Of course!” Qiu Xinyi quickly replied, ”I told Yan Huan as soon as I saw her. She might have forgotten it, right? You might not know, but she recently published an article in the military district’s newspaper, and the leaders praised her for it, even gave her a verbal commendation. Our boss is thrilled, and we’re having a celebration for her tonight. She’s probably having dinner now!”

”Having dinner?” Upon hearing Yan Huan was having dinner, Meng Qingmei felt her heart sink a bit.

It seemed Yan Huan had left them hanging here, only thinking about her celebration plans. To say she wasn’t angry would be a lie, but her good manners kept her from losing her temper.

”Yes, that’s right. How about this, I’ll have her pick you up. Don’t worry, just wait for her!” Qiu Xinyi said, an idea popping into her head.

”No need. We can go back ourselves. Just tell her not to worry about us.” Meng Qingmei was about to hang up after speaking.

”Wait! Aunt, it’s your first time in Nancheng, and you’re unfamiliar with the place. It’s better if Yan Huan picks you up, it’s not far, a quick cab ride would do. Just wait, okay!” Qiu Xinyi quickly said in one breath, afraid of another response from Meng Qingmei, and hurriedly hung up the phone.

She then swiftly grabbed her backpack and ran out.

After the call, Meng Qingmei returned to Ji Shuanglin’s side, feeling somewhat critical about Yan Huan: ”I mean, just look at this child Yan Huan, leaving us stranded here.”

”She must have something going on. Otherwise, Yan Huan wouldn’t be like this.” The last time Ji Shuanglin met Yan Huan, he felt she was quite a straightforward person.

She’s genuine!

”Let’s wait for her to arrive and see.” Anyway, Meng Qingmei wasn’t very happy at heart; she had rushed to see her son, and ended up waiting at the train station for two hours, who would feel comfortable with that?

”Rest assured, the person your son chose won’t be wrong.” Ji Shuanglin was still defending his future daughter-in-law.

He inexplicably believes in Yan Huan.

”Alright, I’ll wait.”

Qiu Xinyi hurriedly arrived at the train station, and immediately spotted a well-dressed elderly couple in a noticeable area.

Their attire was very refined, with an air of elegance. Qiu Xinyi vaguely remembered Yan Huan once saying that Ji Chuan’s parents were intellectuals.

Seeing this elderly couple dressed in an intellectual manner, she was almost instantly certain that they were Ji Chuan’s parents.
