Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

This photo is a family portrait.

In it, there are Luo Tong, Luo Tong’s little brother, and then there’s a man who seems quite old, with a smile on his face. However, that’s not the focus.

The focus is that this man’s face has a scar, a deep scar!

The scar runs across the entire cheek, looking somewhat menacing. However, the man in the photo is smiling at the moment, so he doesn’t look that scary.

No matter if he looks scary or not, he’s definitely the scar-faced old man who almost kidnapped his little buddy last time; an unrepentant human trafficker.

He’s documented at the police station!

As for Luo Tong and his brother... whether they were adopted or kidnapped, that’s still debatable!

”Come on, take a look. I have all kinds of books here, you can choose one, and if there’s one you like but can’t finish now, you can take it home. My collection of books is rich, feel free to pick!” Luo Tong struggled to pull out a box from under the bed and laid out the books he had read in front of Ning Chenyang.

She looked at Ning Chenyang staring at a photo on the desk in a daze and felt a bit strange: ”What are you looking at?”

”Hm? Uh... nothing. Is that man your father?” Ning Chenyang pointed at the scar-faced man and asked calmly, ”He’s quite old... He could be your grandfather...”

”Yes! He’s never married, never had children.” Luo Tong said, ”He adopted me and my brother just to leave someone to take care of him in his old age.”

”Do you have any feelings for him? Like... what if he never comes back...” Ning Chenyang cautiously expressed his thought.

”What?” Luo Tong was momentarily stunned, ”What do you mean?”

”Just asking, just asking.”

”I can’t say we have any feelings. If he doesn’t live much longer, I think I can still take care of my brother and live on just fine.” She’s grown so much and has been taking care of her brother for years, she can definitely do it.

”Mm-hm, I understand...”

”What do you understand?” Luo Tong felt Ning Chenyang was a bit odd.

”Nothing.” Ning Chenyang pointed at the box on the floor, ”Can I read these books?”

”Of course!” Luo Tong agreed wholeheartedly.

Ning Chenyang casually flipped through a few books and sat at the head of the bed reading, though his mind was occupied and unable to focus intensely on the books.

His eyes occasionally flicked to the photo on the desk; his heart was unsettled.

”Why do you seem so interested in that photo?” Luo Tong looked at him with surprise.

”Oh... I saw you looked very cute back then, couldn’t help but take a few more glances...” Ning Chenyang made an offhand excuse, finding a suitable reason for his abnormal behavior.

”Really?” Luo Tong took it seriously as Ning Chenyang was the first to ever praise her for being cute, she blushed and ran out of her bedroom.

”Hey? Where are you going?”

In less than a minute, Luo Tong came out of the scar-faced old man’s room with a photo album, her cheeks flushed as she handed the album to Ning Chenyang.

”Here you go, take a look.” She said with a bit of shyness.

”What’s this?” Ning Chenyang took the album, not immediately understanding Luo Tong’s meaning.

”Photos of me and my brother.”

”Oh oh oh... I definitely have to look at them.” Ning Chenyang said as he took it.
