Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

When Qin Jian and his wife arrived at He Family Manor, it was already evening.

The sunset hung askew on the horizon, the red glow spreading across the sky, a cool breeze blowing gently, lifting An Hao’s hair and clothing, making her feel very comfortable and pleasant.

This place is far from the city, far from the noise, with fresh air that feels natural, and the scenery is pleasant and beautiful, as if arriving in a utopia.

”It’s been some time since we saw our son. I wonder how he’s doing lately? I wonder if he’s doing well, if he’s happy?” An Hao thought about her son, and every time she steps onto this land, the feeling of missing Chenguang grows stronger.

”Brother He and his family are rare kind-hearted people, you can rest assured.” Qin Jian raised his hand to embrace his wife’s shoulder, looking down at her, ”Do you feel regretful in your heart for the child again?”

”It’s okay.”

”That’s good. Rest assured, Guangguang will eventually return to our embrace.”

”Hmm.”

The Qin couple has been here a few times already, and they are quite familiar with the way. They carried things through old streets and arrived at He Fusheng’s door.

By now, the sunset had already sunken below the horizon, leaving only a trace of residual light.

Through the open door, An Hao immediately saw Ning Chenguang sitting on the doorstep. He was resting his chin on his hand, staring straight up at the sky, lost in thought.

That small figure seemed a little lonely and solitary... An Hao’s heart clenched a few times seeing this. She thought about the countless times she saw the child’s smiling face, which was absent now.

Perhaps being away from his parents’ embrace truly reflects his inner feelings.

”Guangguang! Mommy’s here!” An Hao shouted from afar.

Ning Chenguang’s slightly dreamy gaze slowly lowered from the sky. Seeing An Hao in front of him, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and his entire expression suddenly became animated. He jumped off the step and rushed into An Hao’s arms: ”Mommy! You came, you really came!”

”Yes, darling! I’m here, I missed you so much!” An Hao hugged Ning Chenguang tightly in her arms, showering his face and forehead with numerous kisses.

”Guangguang, have you been well recently? Your... mommy thinks about you every day!” Qin Jian saw his son had grown taller and looked more spirited than before, feeling very gratified.

”Good. I... I’m doing quite well.” A flicker of panic flashed in Ning Chenguang’s eyes, an instant, and then it was gone.

”That’s good.” Qin Jian raised his hand to touch his head.

”Brother Qin, sister-in-law! Why have you come at this hour?” Hearing the voices, He Fusheng came rushing out from the kitchen. Seeing it was the Qin couple, he was pleasantly surprised but mostly puzzled.

After all, it’s already dark, and they usually wouldn’t choose to come at this time.

”We’ve come to take Chenguang home.” Qin Jian stepped forward to shake hands with He Fusheng and explained the reason, ”It’s like this. We have relatives getting married, and they specifically mentioned Chenguang’s name, asking for his help. So, we thought to take him home for a couple of days.”

”Sure, sure, that’s no problem at all.” He Fusheng agreed repeatedly, and also mentioned the child’s illness condition to the Qin couple, ”These days, I noticed Chenguang’s condition seems to have improved, I suspect it won’t be long before the boy might even fully recover.”

”That’s fantastic, I’ve been waiting for this day.” An Hao was already longing to have her son back by her side.
